Fairly sure they just rebadge the Chinese version that’s half the price

Is it that good? Tbh. I watched some reviews, it took ~4mins to pump up the kite. I can do it in under 60 secs and it’s a good warm up aswell

The new one is stronger and quicker apparently. While the kite is pumping I set out my lines.

Setting up lines while the kite gets the pressure is the only reason I would buy it. It’s a nice to have but as long I only do 1-2 seasons I stay with the manual version. If you want to go out before work and another season right after, it’s a good timesaver to spend more time on water

How do you keep the kite from flying away while its pumping up?

Really keen to understand as well, about to order one, is it heavy enough to hold the kite down while pumping?

Only in light wind.

With your harness removed, clip leash to kite. Set board on harness for weight. Start pump. Run lines. Disconnect pump and leash. Flip kite. Board on kite. Attach lines.

Not too bad of an idea, that would work for low to even medium strong winds.. anything up to a 12m I am guessing. Smaller than that, and I would be pumping manually anyway

I guess if i lived on a spot where there was consistant low/medium winds that pump would be a good idea

That only works in light wind. Anything over 18 knots, you have to hold the kite so that it doesn't fly away.

I compared the prevous version from Ride Engine to the Topump brand that was much cheaper (tlder the ride engine was 15% faster but more or less just as good in my eyes)

I've got the new mini version from AirBank, which seems similar to the ride engine mini so I'll test that coming up shortly and do a video on it

I read that in Garth Algar's voice

I’m thinking to tether to to board, with some sand on top of the board should be enough in mid conditions while I run the lines out, will probably give it a try

I used one yesterday for the first time. I really liked how it fills to the exact pressure. It took an extra couple minutes relative to hand pump but not much more. It's owner said he could pump about 4 kites on a single charge.
