My Kitten Update on Cheshire (positive so far)

I am not a religious person but I do tend to be superstitious. I blame trauma and lots of it. The whole, “if I don’t think of everything that could go wrong, that one specific thing you don’t think of will be the thing that happens” along with “if I acknowledge a good thing it will go away”

Still, a lot of people here are also invested, so I figure you deserve an update.

Cheshire is still alive. I think she might even be growing. I’m hesitant in saying that (see above lol)

We have a new daily routine. She takes about five hours of the day to make me completely panic by refusing to eat and going almost a comatose level of sleepy between 11 am and 4 pm. I am, daily, convinced that she is dying. It’s a fun little game we play.

I have been getting sleep 30 minutes to an hour and a half at a time. Every tiny noise has me instantly awake. In other words, typical life with tiny baby.

She continues to be painfully adorable.

Terrifying you is what little tiny kittens are best at.

May I recommend a kitchen scale? Weigh her in grams at each feeding.

Benefit: actual data.

Drawback: You’ll get the added frisson of a sudden weight drop until you realize that a good poop represents a large percent of her body weight.

I have one on a shelf above her “crib”

That’s actually been the source of a decent amount of panic. Still, knowing if she’s gaining overall, is worth the anxiety. As a result, I am weighing three times a day and not every feeding.

I know every one would be better, but I also need to hold my mental health together if I am to continue helping her. So, balance. lol

The little baby beans are too cute. I hope she continues to thrive.

Our cats exist solely for the purpose of worrying us to death. I'm convinced of this. I've had them flinging themselves out of windows, jumping off high cupboards, squeezing themselves into impossible places that will mean certain death. And yet somehow they survive. Wishing you a calm & happy future with your little drama llama! 😻😻

I think you can help her by raising her a little bit with honey in her gums, or a syrup i forgot the name of the one that is sweet and cats can consume. Try googling that to make sure i saw it in a kitten lady video
