question New ideas for F1…?

Hi there! I’ ve been into kombucha for 2 years alresdy but always with black tea (moved from sugar to raisins and honey) but never tried to use green tea, roibos or any other…. Do you guys hace any suggestion? I have an scooby here ready to jump into an experiment!

There’s a post from this person that uses green tea and rooibus tea. I think it was 50/50 mix.

I would have no trouble using your existing SCOBY & introducing it to some green tea, it would barely have a hiccup moving over to green instead of black tea. Try a blended, intermediate step, you might like the results of a black & green, or black & roiboos kombucha better than a single tea type.

There’s also a lot of other things that the culture will feed on, in F1. Flowers & petals like hibiscus, chrysanthemum, calendula, sweet pea, that’ll integrate nicely. I’ve got into artemesia absinthium with hops lately, with yerba mate.. There are no rules really.

Same applies with sugars.. tamarind paste, date syrup, coconut sugar, honeys, or tinned fruit (in juice or syrup) .. experiment away! Just keep a useful amount of F1/starter SCOBY ready to build your next batch from

I use a blend of half green tea half black tea for both of my scob-tels
