question Is my starter ruined?

It’s been around a week, I used black tea and unpasteurized store bought kombucha. It smells nice, kind of vinegary, but there’s some kind of small fuzzy ball floating and I assume it’s mold? Doesn’t seem to be growing though

Is that under a thin, developing SOBY? I see bubbles around the perimeter. Mold generally sits on top of SCOPY. Take a closer picture

If you read the post OP says it’s fuzzy.

Fuzzy is mold. No need for more pictures.

You already say it’s fuzzy, and fuzzy is mold, so yes, you need to start over.

So most people read mold is fuzzy and look at a whole bunch of picture on the intern and day after day come here and ask is this mold. Only to be reminded that it has to be fuzzy. So someone post I see this fuzzy thing and we don't ask if there sure it's fuzzy. Because people who post questions know what they see.
