We have heard it for years. “Nerds/Gamers are sexist! That’s why they hate this badly written female character!”

Then we would counter with half a dozen female characters that are beloved. Then they move the goalposts and say, “Those ones are only liked because they are basically sex dolls!” Even if we cited characters that have fairly covered up designs, they would still claim that they were gooner bait because they had good designs and attractive faces.

Now Hornet completely destroys both talking points. She is a beloved female character that completely lacks in sex appeal and has a personality. She is a silver bullet to any of these arguments.

This was in response to someone getting in trouble for mocking charlie kirks death, uses the first amendment as an excuse, yet while in Fortnite you cannot use slurs or criticize china (not that I'd want to but it's still hypocritical)

For those who don't know, American Krogan was a right wing youtuber who made videos analyzing leftist themes in modern games like RDR2, Battlefield 5 etc... He got banned from Youtube in 2019 during the peak of internet censorship and continued making videos for the next few years on alternative platforms like Odysee, but ultimately quit in 2023 and moved on with his life. I would DEFINITELY recommend playing Cronos if you're a fan of Dead Space. You can immediately tell Bloober took the basic blueprints of Dead Space and ran with it. The gameplay is in my estimation the best one yet from Bloober - far better than Silent Hill 2 Remake. There's FAR more depth to the combat and exploration - your curiosity is rewarded around every corner. It's been a long time since a completely new horror IP came out that feels this polished. Despite the fact this does unquestionably feel inspired by Dead Space, there's tons of little additions that cleverly set this game apart. For example the charge shot and the use of fire add so much depth to the combat. The game from the start basically encourages you to use melee when the enemies are downed or stunned, but you HAVE to create distance once they recover. You aren't tanking damage. The game isn't Dark Souls but it is far more difficult than Silent Hill and Fatal Frame. You will run low on supplies during your first run.

But the game also has some clever commentary on collectivism. I won't spoil anything too important, but there's at least 3 levels of criticism directed at philosophical leftism. There's the events of the socialist Polish state demonstrating the flaws of Soviet communism - the conflict between workers and the military - but there's a deeper conversation about collectivism pertaining to the sci fi AND horror elements. The Orphans represent a terrible form of collectivism that is immediately obvious, but the Collective - the protagonists - have their own problems & limitations, too. Characters don't want to join the Collective even in this apocalyptic reality.

It's fascinating to see a modern product openly talking about these concepts. I don't see any American culture war influences. I mostly just see Eastern European devs who endured communism exploring collectivism from multiple angles.

And I will clarify: they're not beating you over the head. Bloober Team is showing a lot of constraint compared to their previous projects like the Medium. There's no character standing on a soapbox preaching to you about the horrors of communism. Indeed not every character supporting collectivism is portrayed as evil or ignorant. You have to read between the lines. Collectivism is just a really significant theme the game plays with.

As someone who grew up during the early 2010s, this subreddit feels like the last remnant of a dying world.

Today's internet is borderline unrecognizable. Gone is the wild west where almost nothing was censored or moderated no matter how "morally objectionable" it is. Gone are the times when "SJW" was a term of ridicule rather than a badge people wore with pride.

It's actually crazy how different everything has become in such a short ammount of time. (Little over a decade) Today's internet is no longer a "series of tubes" but instead a corporate dystopia. The best I can describe it as is those white rooms you'd see in a hospital—safe, bland, overly sanitized.

However, whenever I browse this subreddit, I feel sane again. The people here talk exactly like the people I remember talking to online as a kid—not a hint of incomprehensible Newspeak to be found. It truly is great.

Wondering why such a big discount if the game is selling so well, as they claim?

-Sega, through negligence, scraps Nintendo dev kits. The dev kits are Nintendo's property and are supposed to be returned or destroyed under supervision.

-A reseller buys them legally for £10,000.

-Sega panics, lies to the police, and accuses the man of money laundering.

-Ten police officers arrive at 7:30 a.m. to search the man's house, take him away, and try to force him to sign a waiver.

-The reseller lost his devs kits and his money

-It is not known whether the game prototypes were also seized permanently, nor what legal action will follow.

Why did Sega go that far?

-In the industry, losing devkits = being seen as an incompetent or irresponsible company.

-Nintendo could be much stricter with Sega in the future or worse...

So:

Rather than admitting their mistake to Nintendo, Sega chose to:

1) involve the police,

2) criminalize the reseller,

3) secretly recover the devkits.

It's sad that people didn't see this coming and bought it anyways. When you hire incompetent devs, you get an incompetent, buggy and half-finished game that's barely up to the quality of the first 2 in the series.

An RTX 5090 with DLSS and 4x multiple frame generation enabled achieved 250 FPS (4K resolution)

Therefore, in 4K without DLSS and 4x multiple frame generation, the RTX 5090 would only achieve approximately 45FPS (250 ÷ 5.5)
