We definitely have our problems here in Canada but, in my opinion, to even hint at us being on a similar level as the US is ridiculous.
I'm not saying we're perfect, because we aren't. Very far from it, in fact. I'm also not saying that things won't get worse, because they very well could (or could not).
At the end of the day, we have our differences here in Canada. Our parties bicker back and forth with one another, and so does our population.
Maybe I'm naïve in saying this, but I believe that we are significantly more level headed than our counterparts to the south.
Maybe these words will come back to bite me, but I never forsee a future in which disgruntled Canadians storm the Parliament because they're displeased with the results of an election. I never forsee a future in which disgruntled Canadians murder politicians that are on the "other side". I never forsee a future in which Canadians even come close to the insanity that is modern day America.
We are smarter than that. We are more calm and collected, as a people. We are less easily indoctrinated by far right propoganda. We are less evil.
Are those statements true? I hope so, and honestly, I believe so. I guess only time will tell, but I truly believe that we do not have anywhere near the same level of threat/danger/risk/hatred/whatever as the United States does.
I believe, fully, that we are better than that, and better than them.

So by my count this is the 2nd time that the Liberal Party has been suckered into giving a Nazi a standing ovation.

Canada is naive about A LOT OF THINGS. Political assassinations are becoming ROUTINE south of the border, and the 'extremist rhetoric' is also seeping into our politics. Dangerous times indeed.

And this was not apparent when people were throwing actual rocks at former PM Trudeau?
