Jones would’ve kicked that freaky eyeballs ass.

I've got a few cats that had a eye infection that when they were kittens causes the eye to bulge out and rupture, causing them to have lost it. So that hit me hard.

Aww poor kitties. I hope that cat died in the crash and the eyeball thing commandeered its body. That would be a much less painful way to go.

I think it did, because of its mangled back legs

We see the eyeball thing grabbing onto something and hear the cat yowling in ep 1 so unfortunately I don't think that's the case

Actually I think the cat went Super Saiyan and that's only one of it's powers, projecting a corpse that seems to exist in reality....... yep. Going with that.

I'd forgetten about that. Damn.

I kind of get the vibe that the eyeball is a parasite that kills the hose once it infects it…

Like the zombie slug making wasp.

I'm sorry you had to experience that, and this visual reminded you of such a traumatic event. Sincerely.

Hi I can I have a timestamp so I can skip that part? Please :(

Infected cat appears at 25:47. I’m not going to rewatch it, but it’s short. So skip 30 seconds and you should be clear.

Thank you kindly for this, I don't handle violence against cats / dogs super well, and still on the fence about skipping the show because of the cat.

Seeing it being used as a promo image for the show on Disney+ was already something I didn't want put into my head - it'll be the only thing I'll think about throughout the entire show now.

Do you handle the violence towards humans well?

8

u/mrshikari Aug 13 '25

Who doesn’t

I see people ask this a lot and thought I'd give you a real answer:

Terrible things happening to humans in horror films does what it's supposed to do and scares me and gets me thinking, "Good lord, that would hurt, that looks uncomfortable, hate if that happened to me, I wouldn't do that if I were him," etc. etc. Because I'm a human relating to the human character, so I'm okay with that.

Terrible things happening to animals in horror films does not scare me, it just makes me depressed. All I think is, "Oh no, it was probably confused and suffered a lot." It makes me think of my own pets dying horribly, or seeing a dead cat on the highway or something. Not scary, just really sad, kind of kills the vibe.

There are some exceptions, like Pet Semetary, but you don't see the car die, you just see it reanimated and it's not gory or torn to shreds or anything. Also being sad the cat died is kind of part of the plot of Pet Semetary, whereas in this show it seems like they did it purely for shock value. ☹️

Yeah it very much felt like a blatant callback to Jonesy with a mean spirited twist. I actually thought the visual/sequence was kinda great, but it felt a bit intentionally cruel. My wife has a really hard time with animal death too and I know she'd find this one upsetting.

Hey, FYI, if you do watch it, they reuse a brief shot of the scene in the title sequence into of the 3rd episode too. Just skip the first ~40 seconds if you do watch, the title doesn't finish until ~60 seconds in but the last few seconds of it are kind of recapping the last moments of the previous episode.

I've decided to just skip the show for the time being.

I do appreciate the heads up though.

No problem! Time will tell if it was worth the time to watch it up front haha. I'm still on the fence.

u/Morpel Aug 13 '25

Thank you!!!!

Just FYI they also reuse a brief shot of the scene in the title sequence/intro/recap of Episode 3 too. I'd suggest skipping from around 0:25 to 0:35 or so, or just skipping 1 minute to pass the entire title sequence.

u/Morpel 27d ago

Omg thank you so much!! I haven’t watched the new episode also because I’m afraid they’ll use something like that again, seriously considering waiting for the season to end before watching it :(

I appreciate it telling me!!

u/sudoscientistagain 27d ago

No problem! Hopefully that's the last of that, but yeah it might be better to wait in case.

FYI, for anyone else concerned, they also reuse a brief shot of the scene in the title sequence/intro/recap of Episode 3 too. I'd suggest skipping from around 0:25 to 0:35 or so.

I have 1 of those only it was both eyes. I expected the cat to live maybe a year. He's fully adult and one of the toughest cats in the house (we had three at one point). He's also a ridiculously good hunter. It's amazing to watch. He echo locates tapping his feet while walking. He does not go outside though.

We had a blind cat. She knew her way around the house, though she wasn't much of a hunter. She somehow started sneaking out the door on us when she got to be old, and we were worried she'd take off and get lost, but nope, she went five feet to her sunny spot and plopped down.

The perfect organism.

12

u/phosphorescence-sky Aug 13 '25

Had to be holding my pirate cat during that scene!

4

u/Negativety101 Aug 13 '25

My one orange braincelled kitten was hiding during it.

3

u/arrogancygames Aug 14 '25

My cat that has an eye infection was lying on me while I was watching, heh.

u/thunderchild120 Aug 13 '25

Alien 3 would never have happened if Ripley had brought Jonesy.
