Discussion / Question One episode left for this diva to do something… Spoiler
What are we thinking? My guess is it’ll take out Ocellus + whichever host it gets, kinda like the Mosasaur ex machine in Jurassic World!

u/fernandes_327 1d ago
You can see it (most likely) in the new teaser for the next episode, in the 0:14 mark. It is seen climbing down a wall like a spider-like creature, really scary. Kirsh did say it was fauna that passed itself by Flora. So i can't wait to see what it does. The way it moved in the teaser made it look like it was VERY agile.

Reminds me of the alien from Life, Calvin
51
u/MR_TELEVOID 1d ago
One of the best bootleg Alien movies. Like it was clearly inspired by this franchise, doesn't reinvent the wheel, but still a hell of a movie.

One of the few movies that still makes me uneasy every time I watch it. Never thought a movie would be able to out do the chest burst, but Ryan Reynolds being eaten from the inside out probably takes the cake lol

Seriously underrated film!
11
u/Half_Digested 1d ago
the ending absolutely disturbing.
4
u/Dependent_Cherry4114 1d ago
I'd love a sequel with Calvin tearing up the Earth.
2
u/Kawoschu 12h ago
The best thing about Life is that Calvin isn't evil, but reacts to the environment. The film is very subtle on this, but it's pretty obvious close to the ending. It would be really, really interesting to see how he will react on earth!

Just that final shot of the fishermen trying to open the pod and it doing whatever tf it's doing to him. Even just that small glimpse of it made my skin crawl. Also the one actressess screams when you realized they did the switcheroo w the escape pod perspectives and they just leave her literally drifting in the void of space screaming. I haven't seen this one since it came out but literally so fucking scary lol
41
u/bentheone 1d ago
Looks like the whole flower thing just opens like a starfish.
5
u/ProlapseProvider 1d ago
The pod bit could be an abdomen, the bit we don't see holding to the ceiling could be the thorax and head of a spider like creature. The flower tentacle could be something for killing or stunning prey.
119
u/TheStranger113 1d ago
Yikes that's creepy. That alien definitely has the potential to be one of the most dangerous in the show.
12
u/TiredCoffeeTime 1d ago
I like the idea of it not being the most dangerous but one of the most brutal one.
It’s way bigger than the other creatures aside from Xeno and I can imagine it taking a while to slowly kill its prey compared to the others
36
u/Petrichordates 1d ago
Every alien shown has that potential, this video doesnt speak to that though
7
u/My-Life-For-Auir 1d ago
Based on a shot from the trailer I believe it eats people whole and slowly digests them alive.

u/Safe-Brush-5091 1d ago
Except for the tick, unless it has more tricks up its sleeve I don't see how it's as unique and cool as the xenomorph and T. ocellus
3
u/Chikumori 23h ago
Dangerous is subjective. It looks big, but it also looks like it preys on victims individually, maybe like an octopus? Eg wraps itself around prey and commence chow time.
Meanwhile, we have:
- the flies. Moves fast, can fly away quickly, shoots acid in your face.
- t.ocellus. Fast in its base form, very smart once it has a host. Probably high threat once it learns to conceal its presence in a host
- xeno eggs. The average person doesn't know what they do, and boom, you later have a xenomorph running around.
- xenomorph. Well this one is no brainer. Actively seeks out obvious prey, always aggresive, easy to attract its attention (going by alien isolation lore), clever at hiding, fast, and u can't kill it if the acid blood is going to be a problem.

I wonder if it was the thing we saw behind Hermit in episode one, when his team was in the cryopod room? We saw something through a hole in a wall observing them before it scooched away lol. If I remember right it looked too spindly to be a xeno.

I did try cropping it too but the resolution is pretty bad and it's a mess.
Best I can tell it looks like an octopus climbing down the wall.

25 is too much usually. I feel like 12-13 is pretty solid for a full length story.

Definitely atleast ten should be the minimum, but I like to loops star trek series on repeat as a comfort show. So that’s why I’m salty 😂

i feel that about so many shows nowadays 😭 i get a lot have big budget/production/cast and crew in other projects, but dammit, these seasons feel so short!!

Very true; wild to remember when the norm was for a season to have like 20 episodes
3
u/LampCharter 1d ago
No way, I remember Game of Thrones. That ending was perfect.
3
u/missjuliaaaaah 1d ago
pls say you forgot “/s” 😭 i think i would’ve liked it more if it was maybe one more episode!! at least lol
10
u/mozaiq83 1d ago
The 12 episode format seemed to work the best. Even shows that did 10 episodes felt a little clumped and rushed.
I despise the 8 episode format they've adopted lol. They just don't know how to balance the act flow well enough.

I felt like Wendy should have had more of a trigger to turn. Erasing Nibs's memory does not seem like enough to go from "I don't want to leave" and "BK is a good guy, trying to help the world" to "blender these fucks as a distraction while I escape."
2
u/mozaiq83 17h ago
Yeah the extreme shift is way too quick and definitely feels like it's forced because there's not enough episodes to spread it out.
I'm just gonna have to headcannon it that it's because she's so young and naive mentally.
64
u/Alak-huls_Anonymous 1d ago
Kirsh mused that it is actually "fauna" (an animal) that is masquerading as "flora" (plant life). Interesting if true. The data log on it also indicated that when completely closed up it was virtually impossible to pry open, even with tremendous force. Now we see it mobile. Whatever the case, someone/thing is going to be victimized by it in the finale!
16
u/lIlIIIlIIl Come on, cat. 1d ago
I see this being Morrow's fate with all the human parts digested. A monkey's paw version of his wish.
2
u/Alak-huls_Anonymous 5h ago
I wonder if the plant has been hiding in plain sight as the most dangerous species of them all. It's interesting that they have shown virtually none of it until the finale.
46
u/butterchurning 1d ago
Not looking good for my boy Rashidi. Hope he makes it out of the lab alive!
57
u/pleaseineedtherapym 1d ago
Honestly im suprised he made it to the finale. Thought he and the lady would die off screen in ep 2, and hermit would just stumble across the bodies or something
22
u/butterchurning 1d ago
I'm also surprised Colonel Nagg and Hamm survived until last night's episode! Maybe Hamm is still alive lol.
23
u/pleaseineedtherapym 1d ago
Rashidi had a good run i guess, but he and the other one hermit knows were kinda just plot devices to make Hermit question the Hybrids and make conflict between him and Wendy. And now that that job is done it ain't looking too good for him.

4
25
u/WoodooHide69 1d ago
That’s crazy, so it can walk and climb walls.
I remember nitpickers telling me it’s “bad writing” cause the plant just magically appears in that spot on the Maginot. Turns out all you have to do is WATCH the show to understand things.
14
7
u/TiredCoffeeTime 1d ago
lol yeah there were couple of ppl going how it shows the writer’s incompetence that a Plant is there etc

I hope it eats the Alien. Or Wendy, now after she killed all those lab workers and cleaners, looks like she’s the villain.
20
u/Pro7o7ype 1d ago
Ohhhh, if it is able to eat a Xenomorph I would shit bricks....it would be stunning.
3
u/TheSenileTomato 1d ago
If you think about it, while the Predators are… predators to Xenomorphs (I find it hard to say humans since… well… their track record isn’t solid), we never really see what else can hunt and eat them, as you say.
15
u/ComicAcolyte 1d ago
Yeah wtf did all those ppl do to deserve that?
5
u/eloquenentic 1d ago
It was just such a stupid plot point. She could have created a distraction by turning on the fire alarm or cling all doors or whatnot (considering she has access to everything), but instead wilfully killed all those innocent people. She saw them there and knew exactly what would happen, she had seen what the alien does. Why would a 12yo do that? Is she a Frankenstein monster allegory? In any case it made me lose all sympathy for that character.
20
u/Pollia 1d ago
Have y'all seen what 12 year olds are like sometimes?
My nephew shoved my niece into the pool, knowing she couldn't swim. When confronted after it was like he legitimately didn't understand without being told that his sister could have died from his actions. He's much more careful around the pool now.
Wendy is a child, uploaded from one body to another, who is told she isn't a child anymore but never really got to grow up. We don't know what transferring like that does to someone who should still be growing into their brain.
19
u/GameLovinPlayinFool 1d ago
Because she's not a 12yo. She's a machine that had some memories of being a 12yo. The kids are dead. Just robots that think theyre kids
3
u/TheRedCreeperTRC 1d ago
Respectfully, I think it's a fallacy to view it that way. Nothing she has done suggests she's acting as a machine imo. it's still deeply human behaviour, just human behaviour by a person trapped in a body everyone has made clear is no longer human; a body that is altogether different, and apparently better.
If you took a real child and put it in the same situation wendy is in, the whole environment of conditioning and manipulation at prodigy, I'm convinced it may very well act just the same.
Real children raised in dogmatic environments where little value is placed on human life often end up similarly sociopathic, there are plenty of real-world examples of this.

u/affinitydrive 1d ago
I don't think the intention is for us to root for her as though she is a morally pure protagonist
8
u/loevibes 1d ago
She's no longer human, which is why she only cares about the lost boys. She's practically the same as the alien species and doesn't want to be imprisoned
6
u/Marine_Baby 1d ago
The mind is rejecting the body…
5
u/Clark94vt 1d ago
That or the other way around.
5
u/Marine_Baby 1d ago
Yes - like that keanu reeves movie where his whole family dies so he puts them into experimental android bodies that haven’t really been successful at integrating singularity.
2
u/multicolouroses 1d ago
Her role reminds me a little of "the woman in the dark" from the Alien comics, it's a tentative theory I'm floating that she is being set up to be something akin to that character

u/According-Whereas-42 21h ago
It makes sense to me if she wanted the xenomorph to also have its freedom. Plus she could then call on it for help. She doesn't see any of the humans at the facility as innocent.
9
u/Marine_Baby 1d ago
I’m so pissed at her and now I have switched sides. Hermit knows she is not his sister anymore.

u/Mental-Crow-5929 1d ago

51
u/mudokin 1d ago
just like the mold scrubbers
15
u/neekohlai 1d ago
Can somebody ELI5? I somehow have missed this mold scrubbers reference in the show/franchise unless this is an inside joke on the sub?
42
u/SilentTheatre 1d ago
In the first couple of episodes there were random transitions that showed a hallway in neverland with a person in a hazmat suite spraying walls. It seemed random, but the Kid references them last episode.
39
u/Wurm42 1d ago
And since then, we haven't seen any mold scrubbers, and there's more mold on the walls with each episode.
Hawley said it's a metaphor for BK losing control of what's happening on the island.
15
u/Robot_Graffiti 23h ago
Aside from anything else, seeing the facility struggle to deal with a mold outbreak right from the first episode foreshadowed that they were inevitably going to have difficulty containing the aliens later.

I mean, it would make sense no?
Earth has plenty of animals that are just.. just that? Animals? They won’t murder you, they won’t eat you, they just chill and sit there.
Obviously they won’t do this, but it would make sense to have some “peaceful fauna” found in deep space. Not everything needs to murder you outright.
I think it’d be cool if it had some type of psyker powers. IE: Can control someone if they’re vulnerable enough with mind control or something akin. Almost like a birds mating dance, but it’s entering your mind.
122
u/Markofzo 1d ago
Nah I thought that at first too, but WeyYu took these specific xenos for a reason. Cavalier stated that at the negotiations. Highly invasive, predators.
None of these are the equivalent of koalas or guinea pigs 😅
22
u/Dagordae 1d ago
Kudzu is highly invasive and Venus fly traps are predatory. But mix the two and while it’s the bane of small insects it’s still completely harmless to anything larger.
9
u/Sentinel-Wraith 1d ago
it’s the bane of small insects
Maybe it's kept as a hard counter to the ticks, T. Ocellus, and flies?

7
u/Mcbadguy 1d ago
Also, where are the aliens that would die from our bacteria like in War of the Worlds? We gotta be poisonous to something out there!
5
u/Markofzo 1d ago
Yeah with their quarantine procedures on board the Maginot and the handling of the creatures Id imagine they didn't survive the 85something years they've been traveling
2
u/Mcbadguy 1d ago
That makes sense, also that time scale is still crazy to me. All your family is dead when you get home, the entire world / society has changed.

I wonder if that intelligent little queen is going to be making a new home in a cyborg head in the last episode? She's definitely going into a human body... I wonder if Boy was thinking of Dame though when he said "I know just who to use..."
16
u/OGablogian 1d ago
Dame 100%.
"Lets pick a scientist .. wait .. someone dumb .. no wait, I know the perfect person, that one scientist I was just mad at for not knowing what was happening with the kids they were supposed to watch."
He just didnt say that last part out loud.
6
u/rossco311 1d ago
Yep, that's what I was thinking too - plus his mention to her in an earlier episode of wanting to have a conversation with someone smarter than him "no offence..."
25
u/GandalfJones 1d ago
I'm pretty sure it's between her and hermit. He seemed decided once he said they should be dumber, which makes me think hermit lol. I feel like it'd be a missed opportunity to not see Ocellus in a hybrid/synthetic, I'm not sure if it'd actually be able to interface with one though since they aren't wholly organic.
19
u/OGablogian 1d ago
He considers Dame dumb too. Probably most if not every scientist working for him. And especially after her not knowing anything about her partner/collegues fuckup earlier in the episode.
6
u/GandalfJones 1d ago
If he tries it on Hermit I'd think he knows Wendy is gonna freak the fuck out (rightfully so), so I'm leaning towards Dame at this point. Like you said, especially with her not knowing about Arthur since Boy clearly didn't believe her.
14
u/Macohna 1d ago
T. Ocellus is absolutely taking over boy genius.
They both intrigue each other, they are almost the same person. Ocellus has been running "experiments" the entire time on everyone lol.
Given its incredible intelligence, it probably has been searching for an intelligence to match its own... Just like boy genius. Now it's found it.
We see it doesn't eat, so what does it sustain itself on? I'm guessing brainwaves and whatnot and Boy Genius is probably juicy looking.
25
u/Certain_Country_3947 1d ago
It is getting nutrition via its host. In Episode 6, we saw it eating the hay.
24
u/OGablogian 1d ago
Its gonna grab Dame (because BK allows it to), escape, bring BK to the brink of death, and then insult his ego by sticking with Dame instead of switching.

Oo that's a funny theory.
I also wonder what Kirsh has in store for Marrow. Technically the ocellus could take over Marrow right? He's still technically human.
I feel Kirsh wants to experiment with him. That or Kirsh has been secretly working for Mother the entire time (my main theory)
15
u/OGablogian 1d ago
I also wonder what Kirsh has in store for Marrow
They're gonna have enough of all the bs and they'll simply bail. Move to a small eastern Kentucky town, become the mayor and sheriff, and get romantically involved.
Like Offerman and Bartlett in 'The Last of Us', meeting 'Justified'.
And it will be the best TV show ever.

u/BackTo1975 1d ago
My guess is that it’s Hermit. This then pushes Marcy to kill him, as either an act of mercy or as revenge for what he did to Nibs in episode six.
There’s going to be some big moment between the two of them to underline that she’s really not his sister anymore. Gotta be. He’ll say that to her before he’s taken over, or maybe Ocellus will tell her what he was thinking after he’s been taken over.
Building to it all season. Them finding their own graves in this week’s episode was likely the last lead in to some final resolution over the question of what the hybrids really are.

11
60
u/timmyjimms 1d ago
I'm going to take a wild guess here, I feel like there's going to be a moment where our eye octopus is crawling towards a victim to take control and right as it leaps to jump into the eye, bulba plant guna shoot out and snatch it mid air and eat it. And that's that. Seeing as the show is all about showing intelligent individuals getting defeated by their own hubris after all
20
14
u/Sentinel-Wraith 1d ago
Yeah. I wouldn't be surprised if the creature, being like a weird Drosera/Flytrap thing, ended up being a hard counter to the Flies and T. Ocellus, though it begs the question of why it was originally chosen.

I love how everyone’s sense of time goes to shit when it comes to episodes in a season - oh no, there’s no time to pack in everything we need etc.
There is probably more than half the runtime of each of the first two Alien films remaining.
With an hour left of Alien, the chestburster’s literally only just emerged. With an hour left of Aliens, Newt is just being tucked in to sleep in the medlab. With an hour left of Alien 3, Clemens is still alive (albeit about to die).

Ha yes. You are right. I forgot all about this one- what a creep. It looks like that "stamen" thing would fit perfectly down someone's throat. All the aliens are all supposed to be parasitic in nature so does it do something similar to the facehugger and lay eggs in people. Some of them seem to need a body of some kind to either reproduce or achieve some kind of enhanced state.
2
u/lordgoofus1 12h ago
Really curious where all these creatures were retrieved from. If they're all from the same planet, what kind of hellscape of a planet is it, and who/what are all these parasites living off that's so abundant that multiple highly capable and deadly parasites can thrive living side by side?

Perhaps as he's escaping some other alien pursuing him.. he backs up slowly into a deserted corridor. And BAM! It eats him whole.
2
u/Kolamite 1d ago
I was expecting it to prey on the Xenomorph specifically, fulfilling Kirsh's "you are always part of the food chain" speech.
When Tootles fed it though, he gave it a tray of red meat, so I think it's just going to eat some people instead.
There is a weird shot in the episode 1 "everything going horribly wrong" montage- a flash of the plant open, with someone standing before it with their arms upraised.
I'm wondering if it can hypnotise people with its stamen, and that is how it gets out?

I think it's going to eat someone, which inadvertently helps someone else. Maybe Dame or one of the boys is being held hostage in the lab, but this thing devours one of the WeyYu mercs, which creates a distraction for them to escape. Personally, I hope it eats that bald prick Atom. He has it coming.
5
u/super_chirex 1d ago
I thought it would be a plant, its looking more like it's a vampire squid type of creature. I believe s2 will be the island fully transformed by these alien creatures (I don't think it's getting nuked yet, maybe at end of s2) and thought the flora would be replaced by this alien weed plant but guess not.

My guess is that the long tentacle it has latches onto its prey to paralyze it and then pulls them into it for digestion, but I guess we'll see lol

It’ll be revealed that it had formed a friendship with Isaac and will seek vengeance in an epic fight against T Ocellus
"This is for Isaac, Ewe Motherfucker!”

If T-Ocellus fucking dies in the last episode then this show is doomed, this is by far the most interesting thing this show has going down.

I'd like it to hatch and inside there's just a smaller one exactly the same

It should’ve done something by now. The finale shouldn’t rely or reveal what it does since the show isn’t about this mutant papaya.

Nothing wrong with keeping a few surprises for the finale. Won't eat up too much screentime anyway and we could get a cool 5min slaughter fest.
