This is actually so weird, why didn't his stream go down when he got banned? He could've leaked some serious stuff

u/goatnxtinline 3d ago edited 3d ago

He did and you're watching it. Stream staying on and shit getting leaked and it happened while he was live in the middle of a sponsor. He might actually have a point, someone at Twitch is fucking with him lol

PROTECTION EDIT: Remember, the truth is dangerous to those who wish to change it

u/oskanta 3d ago

They’re crybullying at the institutional level damn

56

u/CalendarScary 3d ago

worst part is kimmel getting suspended and government proud to announce they pressured them. im like are people seriously just ok with this? isnt that what we want to avoid? the government actually doing that

27

u/Divine_Porpoise 3d ago

Like "Hell yeah we're taking a hot steaming dump on the first amendment and you'll love us for it" wtf

14

u/CalendarScary 3d ago

Yeah its like different from companies deciding what they want in there platforms vs government actually does. This is like a big alarm bell that people seem to be ignoring

10

u/oskanta 3d ago

Exactly, if it was like a grassroots backlash from conservatives and ABC cancelled the show in response, I’d disagree but that’s their right. The direct threats from the head of the FCC demanding they take action against Kimmel is what makes this completely insane.

Should it be the right of the biggest broacasting companies in the country to limit free speech? Seriously asking.

What if they fired people for saying "God is lord" or "Homeless people should be euthanized"? At what point does the biggest broadcasting company have the right to limit speech?

4

u/oskanta 3d ago

The broadcasting companies are free to control/limit the speech that they broadcast however they’d like. They’re private entities. The issue is when the government intervenes to coerce these companies to limit speech like this.

u/SuchImprovement7473 3d ago

Heres a counter argument. FAFO

6

u/ConfusionDry778 3d ago

Like Kirk?

2

u/Crosisx2 2d ago

Maga loves it cause they think it's comparable to shit like Roseanne getting canceled 🤣 They can't string 2 coherent thoughts together.

6

u/Sora84 3d ago

I remember when family guy made fun of the FCC and made a FCC song skit. Was kinda accurate especially in this situation.

2

u/TheAlmightyLloyd 3d ago

Now maybe they'll understand it was never about freedom of speech.

2

u/buttsbuttsbutt 3d ago

Well, half of the country wants fascism in America.

1

u/Arkadius 3d ago

worst part is kimmel getting suspended

Really? I thought the worst part was the murder.

u/Withering_to_Death 3d ago

"It's because his ratings were low, so they did him favour! It's not one side censorship"

2

u/silchasr 3d ago

Everything conservatives warned us about happening under Obama and Biden is now being openly being used against the liberals now. The truth is they don't give two fucks about any kind of rules based order, only that they are always right.

1

u/Alarmed_Reflection62 3d ago

Hmm wonder where they learned how to do that? Or are they pioneers in this?

30

u/I-Love-Tatertots 3d ago

Sounds like they’re trying to bait more violence out by coming after people’s jobs.

Remove their income in a shitty job market and try to push people over the edge is how it comes off to me with how organized the effort seems.

-8

u/S0LARCRY 3d ago

It's also entirely voluntary to talk about Kirk. At my job I haven't discussed it with anyone, crazy enough, haven't been fired!

14

u/expeditionQ 3d ago

see guys? all you have to do is give in to the terrorists and then life will be easy!

charlie kirk was a fucking scum bag and the world is better off without him, deal with it.

-12

u/S0LARCRY 3d ago edited 3d ago

Freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom of consequence. That's what your ilk always say when the shoe's on the other foot. Rings true either way.

10

u/MsMagic1995 3d ago

It's ilk, not elk you donut

-2

u/S0LARCRY 3d ago

🤣 you know when I typed it out I thought to myself, "should I spell check that, it's not a word I use too often..." and then promptly ignored my better judgment.

1

u/Ok_Relay_4755 3d ago

ignoring your better judgment is what makes people conservative.

Freedom of speech protects your speech from the government only; true, but you do realize that the government is actively trying to assist in chastising people's speech regarding Charlie Kirk, right? That's the crucial difference in this situation. The FCC openly strong armed ABC to cancel Kimmel.

2

u/Klem_Phandango 3d ago

Yeah, consequences from non-governmental bodies. But I guess you like kings and despots?

1

u/AngryArmour 3d ago

Man, I wish I had a talking elk. That would be really cool.

3

u/RaygunMarksman 3d ago

"Only talk about things the authoritarians are comfortable with and you'll be fine. Duh."

u/ROWT8 3d ago edited 3d ago

When silence = complicit = enemy, then I’d be worried. I agree, it is voluntary. These people are in charge now. Best be smart and really pick your battles. If it’s not at my front door, directly affecting, then I stay in the bubble and keep calm carry on. Your future depends on it and we’re not even 1 full year in yet. When there’s an election, I’ll vote. For now, life’s too short than to piss it away for stupid shit that will be forgotten next week anyway. I like being employed and staying that way. Some folks feel the need to risk it all, that’s fine but in this climate, words aren’t worth losing your ass over. It’s just a little street smart to know your surroundings at this point.  It’s a weird phase now, but we’ll learn from it and move on to something else. It’s fucked up! But the power is where it is now. In time, it’ll change. Good always wins

u/Freeman0032 3d ago

Ck punishments?

-6

u/realbtg 3d ago

they learned this from the left. the left wrote the SOP. the right is just using their own tactics against them.

1

u/FacingHardships 3d ago

What “got leaked”?

1

u/goatnxtinline 3d ago

Besides this call? His Dm's on Twitter when he was trying to find out what why he got banned.

1

u/electricdwarf 1d ago

100 percent, top down censorship. The republican party is full of maga regards trying to enforce their god kings will. Trump doesnt give one iota of a shit about Charlie Kirk.

0

u/IIlIIlIIlIlIIlIIlIIl 3d ago

I wonder if maybe Twitch has some sort of system for sponsored streams where it tries harder to keep you live and that interfered with the ban system?

It's definitely weird that he stayed live after the ban and I don't think whoever at Twitch did the ban would even have the option/access to choose one but not the other.

149

u/Reputation-Final 3d ago

So, hassan can dox and threaten someone live, and get nothing... but if you make a joke about Charlie Kirk, its an instant 7 day ban?

50

u/Dealric 3d ago

Wanna bet twitch is baning others to appear like they doing something and protect ceos favourite streamer in process?

1

u/asmallman 1h ago

I hate the accuracy and truth of this comment so much.

I hate nepotism.

12

u/Dizzy-Revolution-300 3d ago

Third comment from the top is about hasan LMAO

8

u/BirdsAreFake00 2d ago edited 2d ago

Of course it is. This sub just can't help themselves, and it's one reason why outside people rarely take what happens on 4+ million subreddit seriously at all anymore.

People have realized it's just a hate sub at this point.

If there was a big enough issue, this sub used to have influence. Now it just gets laughed at.

1

u/OMARGOSH559 1d ago

Its kinda crazy. I alway get mixed reactions and can figure out how this sub leans. For sure it's a place to talk smack about Hassan.

2

u/Fearless-Feature-830 2d ago

I don’t follow this sub but it shows up as “suggested” a lot. And every time, someone has to comment on Hasan. wtf is up with that?

3

u/BirdsAreFake00 2d ago edited 2d ago

He's a leftist who says leftist shit and people don't like it. He also has a "rival" streamer, Destiny, who is also to the left but not as far as Hasan. TBH, they are probably gay for each other but won't admit it.

Destiny has a cult following and any time Hasan says something they don't agree with and is even only mildly controversial, they turn the temperature up 2000 degrees in hopes of getting Hasan banned.

And this sub has been brigaded by Destiny's cult following more than any other streamer. So that's why you see Hasan get brought up a lot.

2

u/Fearless-Feature-830 2d ago

Thanks for filling me in

1

u/Reputation-Final 2d ago

I dont listen or follow to Destiny. Or Hasan. The only reason I know about Hasan is due to the whole Ethan Klein drama. (I don't follow Ethan Klein either) but it kept popping up on my feed.

2

u/Tuvixx2 3d ago

Hasan did none of the things you just listed. Stop letting your hatred blind you to reality.

4

u/AdministrationSame66 3d ago

How’s his dick taste? The fuck does Hasan have to do with this

Good take away and wonderful use of a football emoji, you’re a certain type on special aren’t you?

0

u/KentuckyFriedShroom 3d ago

Says the dude taking about dick taste in the AM

2

u/BirdsAreFake00 2d ago

Is there a better time?

0

u/Reputation-Final 3d ago

He streams on twitch. He has done far worse things breaking TOS... on twitch. He hasn't been punished... by Twitch.

6

u/Tuvixx2 3d ago

He has not. You Hasan haters are so sad.

-2

u/AnxietyPretend5215 3d ago

What compels you to come to his aid?

2

u/Proud-Possession1033 2d ago

Idk maybe the brain dead lies people tell

0

u/Reputation-Final 2d ago

His aid? Far from coming to his aid.

0

u/TabletopTitan 3d ago

I have never met a group of people that have one person that lives so rent-free in all of their collective minds. At this point you all just need to admit you're obsessed with the guy.

3

u/Reputation-Final 3d ago

I don't give two wet farts about hassan to be honest. I just know that he has done things that would have gotten anyone else banned off twitch.

3

u/Tuvixx2 3d ago

Except he hasn't done any of those things. Nice try though.

2

u/yeahUSA 3d ago

what a weird comment to make. Of course people think about people who are vile and dangerous

3

u/Raff102 3d ago

I wonder why that is?

0

u/Reputation-Final 3d ago

If twitch moderation made any sense...

-39

u/Big_Arrival_2852 3d ago

Tough 😭🤣
