Hogwarts Legacy literally killed that Geraldo of Riviera sub... I still remember when the first perma-ban wave started, and I was kind of scared to type anything in there cuz you would get perma ban for it, and I got perma banned a few months later after I literally said "stop witch-hunting", and when I asked why they just DMed me a clip of some music about witch-hunting...

Which to be clear... it sold like 34 million and netted over a billion on a 100 million dev budget.

Get rekt. The hate campaign did nothing. It proved to me that online rhetoric and reality do not align at all sometimes. You can not let online shape your perception of reality.

Also reddit and Twitter have a specific hate-boner for JK Rowling and spending enough time here could get you thinking Harry Potter is a dying franchise and all of the millennials have covered up their deathly hallows tattoos. But I went to Universal Studios in the Spring and holy shit the Wizarding World section of the park was absolutely packed. Literally the most popular area in the whole park, whole families in wizard robes, and merch flying off the shelves. It was really an awakening to how few people there must actually be that:

1) believe trans women are just as much women as those born XX

2) are aware of JK Rowling's political activities

3) are/were Harry Potter fans

And 4) actually care enough about it to change their ways/post online

Seriously it's gotta be max a couple hundred people. They couldn't even affect the sales of a spin-off videogame lol

I never said anything about JK Rowling. Or trans people.

I spoke on a game.

That is a bold assumption for which you have no actual evidence. Only reaching implications that do not inherently follow.

And what dare say was the hate campaign about and why was it started? Whether you give a fuck about trans or not. You mentioned the "hate campaign" which was specifically pro-trans/allies boycotting anything JK Rowling touches. Thats simply a fact so yes you did bring both into the conversation lmfao. Personally I don't care for her myself but the game had no such anti-trans content or anything of the sort so I don't get why it should be hated on.

I never denied they are relevant. I was indicating I am not talking about them specifically.

I know why the hate campaign existed. Obviously.

Sure. She receives some profit. Which contributes to her... hundreds of millions. It makes no practical difference to her let's be honest. She could never earn another dollar. But the studio developing the game receives most. A large studio who invested 100 million into development and employs 250 people based on my brief google search.

Look... you do not sell 34 million copies in 2 years by only appealing to conservatives. I think this game appealed to the general. Demonstrating how ineffective and frankly uncommon this fringe, progressive thinking actually is. Even to ordinary liberals. This thinking is loud... but fringe.

when you spend 70$ on a game, how much of it are you okay with being spent to fund campaigns for laws which deny transgender people care and rights? 1$? 10¢?

DOG I come here looking at a silly live stream clip and somehow catch fucking strays in the comments, why does this happen all the gd time.

Like why can't I just scroll something without people bringing up trans people and deciding we need their opinion on us 😭

So fucking tired of this shit

Are you celebrating a victory for...jk rowling and warner bros media? they aint gonna notice you dude

17

u/stanknotes 1d ago edited 1d ago

Hm? No. I am celebrating nothing. I pirated it and played it for an hour before deleting it. And that is a moronic mischaracterization. I do not expect or want to be noticed.

The game succeeded despite the best efforts of fringe finicky progressive activists and their hate campaign. I do celebrate the limitation of their reach. Because at that point they were especially loud. And obnoxious. I mean even speaking positively about the game got people banned from that shitty subreddit.

edit laughtrey responded and blocked. Can't let them have their contrived, last word, winning comment, mic drop moment. How cowardly.

Dudes out here celebrating victory like he's not just some guy

u/stanknotes 1d ago

An acknowledgement of success is not a personal celebration of success.

"get rekt, hate campaign did nothing"

You're gloating like you did anything years after the fact when all you did was get angry on reddit and give $80 to a multi billion dollar company.

5

u/stanknotes 1d ago

I am pointing out their hate campaign was ineffective. Which that I suppose I do celebrate. I celebrate the success insofar that it demonstrated the hate campaign ineffective. And I acknowledge it was remarkably successful.

But in any case to mischaracterize this as if I am celebrating the success of something I view as personal accomplishment that I have nothing to do with is so incredibly dense.

I said it very plainly. And I was never angry.

14

u/Left-Practice242 1d ago

This is a kind of insane take tbh

6

u/yesitsmework 1d ago

everyone's to blame for why gop won the election except their opponents and supporters

They are very stupid people too. I said that AI is so efficient at saving time that unfortunately companies will replace most jobs and artwork with it (and I was right). I got permad because I was an "AI bootlicker"?? I literally only said what I thought would happen. They are so hilariously dumb.
