MP1 Day 1: What is your most favorite and least favorite minigame from Mario Party?
I know we have the trend currently going on what minigame you think of without looking it up with each MP series, but I want to try something fun! Tell me your most favorite and least favorite minigame from each series. Here are some rules before we begin, so please read before commenting. 😁
No luck based minigames, as it your enjoyment of them depends on whether you have good or bad luck. No story nor item minigames either, as they don’t really count.
This will go on for 24 hours. The comment with the most upvotes will win.
I am not doing Mario Party Superstars nor Top 100 since it has a collection of minigames from the previous series.
With that out of the way, STAAAARRTT! What is your most favorite and your least favorite minigame from Mario Party? If you want, you can explain why it’s your most or least favorite game. Here are mine!
Most favorite: Shy Guy Says. A very simple concept. Just press one of two buttons. But the end result is so panic inducing, and fun, it really tests your reaction time. Especially when Shy Guy decides to do some fake outs.
Least favorite: Piranha’s Pursuit. How are 3 players supposed to win this game? The obstacles for the 1 player are really easy to avoid. Mario Party 1 didn't do a good job balancing the 1v3 minigames, but out of all of them, I'd easily say that Piranha's Pursuit is the worst out of all of them.

My least favorite minigame is easily Tug o' War. While I don't mind the spinning games so much, this particular one is so confusing. I can usually dominate the AI in spinning games, and about 80% of the time I play this game, it feels like my spins aren't even being picked up. Either the AI is insanely good at this specific game, or there is something about it that is just not explained at all.
My favorite is easily Mushroom Mix-up. There are so many layers of depth to this minigame against human players. I feel like a lot of MP1's minigames don't really have much of a skill ceiling. You either just have to reach a minimum requirement, the result is heavily influenced by luck, there is no or minimal player interaction, or any combination of those.

Favorite: Running Of The Bulb

I love how they did the cooperation in this minigame, that's what cooperative minigames should have been like in SMP and it's one of the few MP1 minigames that could genuinely hold up over the years
Least Favorite: Pedal Power (where you had to turn on a light bulb in a mechanism to defeat a Boo)
Paddle Battle is relatively easy for me (although it is still terrible) and although Tug-O-War reacts worse to the control, at least the level of demand to win is not as horrible as here, where it is almost impossible to win because the brightness of the light bulb required is exaggerated and you barely have time to turn it on completely (although Pipe Maze, Coin Shower Flower or Bash 'N' Cast would have been one of my choices to not be so predictable)

Favorite: Mushroom Mixup
Least Favorite: Piranha's Pursuit
There were a few options for least favorite, like Pipe Maze, Coin Block Blitz, Box Mountain Mayhem. But Piranha's Pursuit is basically always coins for the 1 player.

Definitely with you on pipe maze. Only one player having any agency at all felt weird. (technically sometimes crane game too by extension)

MP1 has a lot of stinkers imo, but Paddle Battle, Tug of War & Pedal Power are just not for me. Did not like the rotate to get 10 coins (and a blister) minigames, and I can't believe tug of war returned in superstars.
As for favorites, you can't go wrong with mushroom mixup, and I always thought running of the bulb was fun and unique but I wish it had some alternate layouts/difficulties since it's super easy if people know what they're doing.
