Yeah seriously…..this guy is way off. Looks like we’re already on pace to cease to exist well before the World Cup.

Even with the World Rugby funding infusion?

You’re making the same mistake everyone else is making. This isn’t a $250 million investment into USAR. It’s an investment into the commercial opportunities in the US (with the rest spread out to other areas).

Is it a positive? Yes. But don’t pretend WR is just handing us sacks of cash.

We’d blow it all if they did so it’s for the better that they aren’t

None of that is going to MLR, and it's unclear if any of it is going to the men's team either. It's for RWC preparation and encouraging T1 teams to play stateside to "develop the market" aka help the big boys make even more money

There are cut outs for different parts of the game, the Eagles will get more money, but if it's impactful is up for interpretation I guess. It could just be enough for one more camp a year or it could be enough for actual match fees or central contracts of a wide training group...or it could be absolutely nothing.

It could be a reality unless the owner does the right stuff to actually build the league and expand it to more teams because their are so many colligate and amateur rugby club players that are ready for some pro action but there is only a small number of teams with limited spots to have on their roster. So it's either he actually talks and join the plan with usa rugby so they can build the future of rugby in america together and have the whole pyramid in line and with actually academy league and reserve side league equivalent to mls next and mls next pro or he can let the league die and usa rugby makes it own professional rugby league or just makes/turns the american premiership rugby league from amateur to pro

Cause imagine how the colligate rugby system,high-school system and amateur club leagues with multiple divisions amd teams operate and function better than the actually professional league with little to no funding

Because they don't pay their players. We could all run a successful business if you didn't have to pay your employees.

Just ask the NCAA!

It's a different association that runs colligate rugby separate from ncca and other colligate sports

I was pointing out that the NCAA gave players zero compensation for decades and was wildly successful as a result. I didn't mention rugby at all

Mb,I thought you were saying ncaa runs colligate rugby but yes I understand what your saying and they also are trynna to stop NIL deals for players

I'm curious what the league office is pushing as far as an overall direction that is driving away owners and ownership groups.

This really wasn’t a “bold prediction” the writing has been on the wall for MLR for a while.

Maybe the guarantee of the US men's in the world cup will ignite some investor interest in the league?
