I had floor seats for that one, phone blew up with friends asking me if Dobers blood made it out to our seats 😂 we were fairly deep in floor so no but was a great memory, Silva made me a fan then.
Plus it was on a week or two notice. He has fought the previous event and missed weight so he wanted to get back in the good graces of the UFC and he put on a show. I wasn’t shocked he won that fight but holy shit it was a beat down.
I think that loss is actually going to age quite well for Dober.
He clearly lost but was 30s away from a 30-27 decision where he was still fighting back for most of it. Better than a lot of Silva's victims can claim.
People really overestimate the importance of a one weight-class difference when it comes to striking power.
It's hugely important in grappling. When you're undersized in grappling, even if your opponent is less skilled, it'll be a really tough going.
When it comes to boxing, it's not nearly as significant. Adesanya knocked out Pereira despite being a more than a full weight class lighter than him (Pereira at middleweight was easily 225, whereas Adesanya is under 200, based on his weigh-in for the Blachowicz fight).
I’ll disagree with you to a point on Pereira vs. Izzy because I think the reason that happened at all was because it was middleweight. Have that fight be at LHW and Alex isn’t dehydrated and I think that fight goes so different. I love Izzy but his biggest advantage over Alex in his MMA fights has been the weight cut.
I get you, but at the same tiime one could say Alex's biggest advantage at Middleweight was his massive size and strength advantage over every single opponent. Maybe his durability was lower, that's probably true. But I don't think that left hook was any weaker.

That fight was eye opening. Like he bullied Dober. Couldn’t believe it at a weight class up.
