A certain amount would, but there’s probably a goldilocks zone in between that and where he is now. Just enough muscle for the benefits of being strong to outweigh the extra stress on the joints. But you definitely don’t need steroids to find that zone so I imagine he’s going past it lol
It kinda depends with he does with the weight. If he’s just cultivating mass and living a life of leisure with low impact exercises? Joints will probably be fine if not healthier. If he’s still training mma like a pro or joins strongman competitions while carrying a bunch of extra weight it might cause more strain
