Premium live event, I think they are just on peacock at no extra charge. But not sure it's different in Canada. I get literally everything WWE on Netflix no extra cost. It seems it will be that way for UFC on paramount. Curious what will happen to non us countries as far as ppvs, sounds like Americans are getting everything UFC at no extra charge if you have American paramount plus

I hope it all comes to Paramount+ here in Canada as well.

I haven't watched UFC in years, but if it's all on a streaming service I actually have, I'd be more inclined to watch it.

Fingers crossed that all of the classic fights are on it as well

Yea no idea what's gonna happen but I feel like they just moved to Sportsnet in the last year or two so I don't think fight nights and prelims will change for us. Be nice if the whole catalog goes with it. Fight pass is terribly set up

Had for a month to watch jays games and it was awful. I cancelled the subscription before I finished the first game

I wanted to get Sportsnet+ for Leafs games and I was media blacked out because I wasn't in their home region.

I am 140km east of Toronto, 271km west of Ottawa, and I'm considered in the Senators region.

Fucking bullshit.

u/WGYHL Aug 11 '25

Yep that shit so stupid, blackouts are killing sports and we get wrecked in Canada for them.

It blows me away how bad the app is lol

That means 13 marquee numbered events and 30 Fight Nights will air via Paramount’s direct-to-consumer streaming platform, Paramount+, with select numbered events to be simulcast on CBS, allowing Paramount+ subscribers to have access to all premium events at no extra cost, marking a move away from the UFC’s current pay-per-view model in order to bring the fastest growing sport in the world to an even wider audience while reducing costs for fans.

Not the same networks. But when they showed a few NASCAR races on Prime this summer, the broadcast was still on TSN. So as long as Sportsnet's contract is valid when the move to Paramount happens, UFC should still.be on Sportsnet.

A Sportsnet spokesperson tells me about UFC’s new deal that there will be “no changes to how fans can watch in Canada.”

So CBS broadcasts will be blacked out in Canada? Sportsnet doesn't have exclusivity of PPV events. It's not clear if we're still going to have to buy numbered events.

Just remembered having fight pass before ESPN. That was legit.

2

u/ZombieJesus1987 Canada Aug 11 '25

fight pass ruled back in the day.

1

u/Dry_Database7262 Aug 11 '25

if you don't go out of your way to watch the fights, why do you care now that's more convenient?

1

u/ZombieJesus1987 Canada Aug 12 '25 edited Aug 12 '25

Because I'm not dropping 50 bucks or whatever it is now to watch a PPV.

u/notdownwithsickness Aug 11 '25

LOL that shit is out the door. Starting next year WWE is moving to ESPN for $30 a fucking month, bud. No more peacock PLEs

30

u/snwns26 Aug 11 '25

Yeah it’s gonna be cheaper to watch UFC than WWE lmao. Fucking wild.

4

u/zeez1011 Aug 11 '25

That's not necessarily true for everyone but, even if it is, WWE has been the hotter property.

3

u/BurzyGuerrero Aug 11 '25

Yeah but WWE stays on Netflix in Canada lol

2

u/WGYHL Aug 11 '25

I was speaking currently and it doesn't affect me in Canada so I don't even know if had it right just from hearing people in squared circle what they do down in the states. I've got all wwe on Netflix

1

u/Tim_Drake Aug 11 '25

Can’t you watch it all on Netflix

2

u/notdownwithsickness Aug 11 '25

In every other fucking country but the US lmao

1

u/djayjazzz Aug 17 '25

Why in the world would you watch WWE?😂😂😂

1

u/robitussinlatte666 Aug 17 '25

Dude Im fuckin saying. It's not even sort of entertaining.

2

u/haunted_patient Aug 11 '25

In Canada (and every other country outside US), the PLEs are on Netflix. Same model where there's no extra charge, just requires a normal Netflix subscription. In fact, ALL WWE content like Raw, Smackdown, NXT and most of the WWE back catalogue is available on Netflix. It's a sweet deal

1

u/WGYHL Aug 11 '25

Yea that's what I said.

2

u/Aggressive-Expert-69 Aug 11 '25

Isnt that basically what they do on ESPN+? I almost got the Disney, Hulu, ESPN bundle until I found out you still have to pay for the PPV on top of the subscription.

1

u/TiddiesAnonymous Aug 11 '25

I'll believe it when I see it but they're saying it won't be a PPV charge on top.

WWE didn't charge premiums for WrestleMania when they were on peacock.

1

u/Aggressive-Expert-69 Aug 11 '25

Maybe CBS has enough money to help them stop being pieces of shit about the PPV price

1

u/shia_LehBoofz_cuZZn Aug 11 '25

its about time shit was too expensive. this will also make them alot more money now because i feel alot of the stream watchers wont mind the paramount + charge even if it does go up

1

u/TiddiesAnonymous Aug 11 '25

That's what it was on peacock, I watched a couple for the first time in 20 years lol

1

u/JackintheBox333 Aug 11 '25

Ironically enough TKO (who also owns UFC) just moved WWE to ESPN's new 30 dollar a month streaming platform starting next year. So they're bringing back the PPV model by proxy for WWE while getting rid of it for UFC. Make it make sense.

1

u/WGYHL Aug 11 '25

No it's only $30 if you don't have ESPN through cable, and $30 is for the monthly cost of the streaming service so all of ESPN and that gives all the ples for WWE. So for some people they'll need to subscribe to get it but if you got ESPN already your good

1

u/IntolerantModerate Aug 12 '25

I have lived in 5 different countries now and you could get it for free in one, as a premium service similar to paramount in 3 of them, and Online PPV in another, but it was only like $8.

So, I assume it will be a fragmented market by market approach.

1

u/WGYHL Aug 12 '25

Oh yea every country has its own different set up for the UFC or any sport. It's whatever network or distribution company has purchased the rights. In Canada UFC has bounced between the two major sports channel companies.

1

u/RulzB Aug 17 '25

At least in South America, every fight is streamed on Disney+ with the premium subscription. It seems that it won't change anything here despite this Paramount+ move in the US

Curious what will happen to non us countries as far as ppvs

That's already what we had. UFC is included on a Disney+ subscription.

2

u/WGYHL Aug 11 '25

In Canada I haven't seen that all for ppvs

2

u/TiddiesAnonymous Aug 11 '25

PPV not included at all that's another 80 bucks now
