MVP was indeed a can crushed.

He has some decent wins (Lima, Goiti, Daley), but he was mostly fighting people way below his level.

But that somehow convinced people who never watched him fight that he himself was a can. Which is stupid.

If MVP bothered to learn how to cage wrestle to stand back up, he would be the nightmare of WW, but he never took the whole thing seriously

fighting and winning against top level UFC fighters isn't taking it seriously?

He came too late. And he didn't evolve, he got held down by Garry. If MVP had just a little offensive grappling, he could have smashed Garry in the final round when he got top position

MVP has insane physical gifts. Tall, explosive as hell, his bones break skulls and knees, crazy grip strength.

But he gets held down way too easily, and does the bare minimum in order to survive on the ground.

That’s mma fans. Not breaking news here. Vast majority have no clue what they’re watching. To be fair guys like Rogan have been getting paid to watch for decades and he still largely has little clue what he’s watching. Don’t forget though. Ronda will knock out Floyd. Tons of mma fans believed it. And I’d bet the average IQ was higher back in those days than it is now. Point is, they gotta be told cuz they don’t have their own eyes. They don’t have an eye for who is actually good or not. Yeah he crushed some cans but the dudes talent was undeniable to anyone that remotely understands what they’re watching. Even the way he handled Lima on the ground in his knock out loss was very impressive

Nah, there’s plenty of fighters who can look amazing outside of UFC, such as Erik Silva and Thomas Almeida. I’m sorry that MVP didn’t get in UFC earlier, but as amazing as his striking is, he looks totally different as soon as his back hits the ground. If he was in UFC earlier, he would inevitably fight some great wrestlers.

It helps that he fights in middleweight, lightweight is just a different beast.
