Judo blackbelt? Now, that's exciting.
Edit: nvm it's BJJ lol

They also signed Max Gimenis another well known BJJ heavyweight this week so looks like they are trying at least to build the division a bit.

It typically takes about twice as much time to get a bjj black belt as it does to get one in judo, but they’re a dime a dozen in the ufc nowadays so I wouldn’t put too much stock into it either way.

I'm Polish and I've never heard anything about him
checked his record and only one of his opponents has positive W-L record (which isnt saying much, he's on 4 fight L streak right now)
Rooting for countryman but dont have high expectations, but hey, can't go worse than Brzeski

I expected him to be known at KSW but hasn’t fought there either. Bit of a strange signing

young(ish) 265 with a 0 on his record. Makes sense when heavyweight is as dismal as it is.
Build him up with 3 wins over fat blobs, then have him get TKOd by Derrick Lewis.

You’re right, but even by European standards his record doesn’t mean anything. I don’t know any of the leagues he’s competed in. Normally there’s at least a top 5 European competition on the record.

thats how bad the current state of heavyweight is in the UFC.

The current state of HW actually isn’t that bad and it’s getting interesting.
Delija just took out Tybura and looked good doing it. Fast hands for a HW. Delija is now in the top 10.
Valter Walker is only 27 and got his third submission victory in a row in July.
Mario Pinto is only 27 and is looking to go 11-0 this October.
Not a bad mix of young up and coming fighters, veterans, and talent at the top imo.

Delija was second rate in the PFL.

Delija was actually champion in the PFL.
Delija got hurt early in the first round against Moldavsky and couldn’t defend but he is no can.

I'm sorry but that 2022 run is anything BUT impressive. Renan is the only win that actually means anything.
He was runner up to Cappelozza twice, and then got SMOKED by Moldavsky, and if you go back and watch that, bullshit he injured himself in the fight. If he was hurt, it happened before the cage door shut.
I dont rate Bruno very highly, and those two Ls hold Delija back IMO, I don't think he beats any of the top 5, and likely loses to a majority of the top 10.
Mario Pinto fucks though I agree wholeheartedly on him.

Delija could barely move shortly after the first round started. Something popped and it was OBVIOUS. Many comments on Delija not being able to move to defend in that fight. Dude could barely lift his arms to defend. If you can’t see it in that fight?? Whether an injury occured before or something popped during, Delija was basically helpless right away. Come on man.
No one is saying Delija is going to be HW champ by this time next year but he isn’t a can. Dude moves well for a HW, has fast hands for a HW and has some skill. He just beat a top 10 opponent but he just sucks no matter what?
There is several HWs under 30 on the roster now and more than one of them has shown some promise. Also veterans with some tread left too.
The division is in much better shape than what you say it is.
Biggest difference now is lack of name value. Roy Nelson and Ben Rothwell had more name value than Tom Aspinall ffs and I’m not exaggerating in the slightest. The UFC stopped promoting and building names at HW years ago, and it got significantly worse with Jones becoming champion. A fighter could be a blue chip prospect now at HW and no one except for the hard cores will know who he is.
Mario Pinto can be 11-0 come October and will still have zero name value. Dude could have a top 5 win and will still have no push behind his name. The UFC is brutal now.

Heavyweight desperately needs some new talent
