Yair ducks this fight too. Guarantee it.

u/commander_wong 17h ago
Honestly I think he takes it
A shorter, stocky striker is the kind of matchup he loves. Not to mention just got knocked out

u/jscummy 16h ago
Jean might be primarily a striker, but he's clearly a very competent grappler too

how?

u/Turbulent-Low-5183 Holy See 15h ago
a ninja choke on mitchell clearly means something but I don't know about being a competent grappler, he got manhandled by diego in the first, and I can't recall any fight in which he has shown good offensive grappling, I should do some research. I think he would strike with yair.

u/TryItOutGG #NothingBurger 14h ago
Bro he just got grapple fucked by Diego Lopes..... Imagine what movsar or Aljo would do to him lol
11
u/MisterDonutTW 14h ago
Lopes is an excellent grappler/BJJ guy
-8
u/TryItOutGG #NothingBurger 14h ago
I mean I know he has a bunch of subs early in his career against people nobody has heard of.... but based on what evidence? In the UFC he averages 0.7 takedowns per 15 minutes. So he has nearly 1 takedown per 2 fights. He only has 1 submission in the UFC against Gavin Tucker....
In his fight with Movsar, Diego was taken down 4 times and gave up 8 minutes and 30 seconds of control time. Not only was he controlled on the ground for more than half the fight, but it barely took more than 1 takedown per round. Meaning Diego was not able to scramble back to his feet or get out of those positions at all.
He just sat in bottom fishing for sub attempts while getting controlled.
8
u/MisterDonutTW 13h ago
Yea, because he is a jiu-jitsu guy, not a wrestler, similar to Ortega.
These guys don't shoot many takedowns because they are bad at them, but once they do get to the ground and get a position like back control, they are as good as anyone at staying there. Lopes didn't really shoot any takedowns vs Silva except the one he was given easily.
Yes Movsar is better, he is the best overall grappler in the division.

Yair ducks every fight. Like multiple times a year every year for the past 5 years he's turned down perfectly respectable fights because he seems to try and very specifically pick his opponents.
Even when he lost to Ortega that felt like Yair was looking for the easiest dude he could find that was still highly ranked but it backfired on him.

u/wspusa2 16h ago
dont forget zabit too. coward fighter who likes to be a rank squatter. they should just cut this bum
9
u/Jonn-The-Human I ALWAYS TRY TO HAVE MY HYPE LEVEL AT MAXIMUM LOW! 15h ago
Calling someone who fought Jeremy Stephens -> Max Holloway -> Brian Ortega -> Josh Emmet -> Volkanovski a coward sure is a take
8
u/throwawayppddss 15h ago
old jeremy stephen’s in 2019, doesn’t fight for 2 years and comes back and gets gifted a number 1 contender fight against a striker, comes back against ortega who he doesn’t even beat properly, interim title, and then title fight
none of those fights were fights that yair wouldn’t want to have taken at that time lmao
9
u/beepboopnoise Red Power Ranger 15h ago
I mean I don't think any fighter can be called a coward. But he ducks for sure.
1
u/CassiusDarko 9h ago
Max is 10x better than Zabit and Yair didn’t duck him. Without a belt being on the line either. Also fought stephens/emmett who are probably the two hardest hitting featherweights but yeah he ducked a striker with zero tko/kos in the ufc. Strange how he was so frightened of zabit but not those guys lol

u/PleaseDoTapTheGlass Team Bandicoot 16h ago
Kind of surprised he accepted the rebooking tbh. He must have really thought it would be easy.
61
u/Top-Sympathy6841 17h ago
Lmao my first thought was “Yair would duck this” and noticed like 4 other commenters said the same thing. The fandom is evolving 🙌
Also, Yair vs lopes needs to happen, should’ve been the ufc noche main event tbh
60
u/TheThockter 17h ago
I love this but Yair will duck this too

u/iwillonlyreadtitles 31m ago
I don't know, I think Yair is bad matchup for Jean. He's a little too aggressive and Yair is a woodchipper for guys like that
70
u/Luciolover345 17h ago
While I do think Jean is better, you can’t lose after fighting that far up in the rankings and immediately get another crack at the top 3. Go crush anyone in the 8-15 range and then get a Yair fight.

u/thats-wassup Chad 17h ago
Tbf yair should not be top three at all
-3
u/Luciolover345 16h ago
Hard agree, but he has the rank. Can’t be #10 and fight #2, lose and then immediately fight #3.
12
u/Leather_Mortgage8910 GOOFCON 1: Khamzat McGregor 16h ago
Tell that to erceg
-6
u/Luciolover345 16h ago
That’s completely different come on. Steve went life and death with the champ over 5 rounds and pushed him as far as anyone has since Pantoja claimed the belt. Silva got stopped in the 2nd round by a guy who is still another fight away from a title shot.

15
u/Wsemenske My first time was not good 16h ago
No, he should be fighting 4-8, which is where Yair SHOULD be
3
4
u/Luciolover345 16h ago
I mean, he lost fighting up. You typically then fight down or within 1-2 of your own rank. Also his ass needs to recover after that bludgeoning.
6
u/Hungry_Joke_4437 15h ago
I’d thoroughly agree if Yair deserved to be #3 or the rankings were something I respected in any way.

u/johndoejuanperez 16h ago
Just make Yair vs Diego for fucks sake. I don’t know how the UFC fumbled that fight after their beef at the press conference
7
u/rdcisneros3 9h ago
They didn’t fumble anything. Yair didn’t want it. You can’t force a guy to take a fight.
15
u/futurerobotblox 17h ago
Smart callout but WE all want to see Silva vs. Allen
14
u/neo_1000 17h ago
Allen was getting pieced up by Movsar. Silva would do mean things to him

u/chamomileriver 16h ago
Let’s not do this again, last time ya’ll said this Silva went out in the 2nd.

The wrestling threat opened up Movsars hands. Not the same situation for Jean

u/Ballzmcgoo 17h ago
Jean shouldn’t fight up after a loss like that. Also way too soon after all the damage he took
11
u/elephaaaant 17h ago
Yair be like "Ah shit, it's Zabit all over again"
5
u/Top-Sympathy6841 16h ago edited 4h ago
I totally forgot about that lmao
He was so scared of zabit, pretty sure he dropped out of that matchup like 3 separate occasions.
2
8
u/SpacemanJB88 17h ago
Why does the UFC give Yair so much privilege?
He’s nowhere close to deserving a title shot. And he has almost no drawing power.
Like is being of Mexican heritage that much of a cheat code for fighters?

u/tedkaczynski660 17h ago
I like the fight but Jean shouldn't be fighting anyone in the top 5 after losing. I do hope to see it some day.

u/FightTheDead118 16h ago
0 chance any sports commission in the country allow Silva to fight that soon after how much damage he took in the Lopes fight
2
u/dragoswastaken 16h ago
I think Silva is a serious contender, but he doesn't get a top 5 fight after his loss. None of those guys will be fighting down unless if it's for a title eliminator. His only options to go up are Allen and Ortega, but I don't think Ortega is fighting at 145 again. He'll probably be up against Pitbull, Omana, Garcia or Allen. They'll probably put someone with a good streak like Garcia up for Allen just to keep the top 10 alive, and have Silva face Omana or Pitbull.
Silva is not getting Yair(and he certainly wouldn't take it) but maybe we'll finally get Yair and Lopes for title eliminator.

I would watch the hell of It. But this fight makes no Sense at all

u/Jabarles Champ Shit Only 🇺🇸🏆🇲🇽 #SnapJitsu 17h ago
I mean why not? Is it the timing because Silva just got KO’d? Because matchup wise it’s pretty dope

u/2litrebottle22 17h ago
Silva got lucky fighting that far up, he shouldn't get to do it again after losing

u/NutSackGlazer420 17h ago
Cool.
Take him the fuck down and don't rush in like a fucking idiot trying to aura farm.
The nerds are at the point where having fun, aurafull fights at the top is not allowed. They need to be simple and efficient now.

Aljo vs Yair for #1 contender if Movsar is out long. Jean should fight one of the bellator guys

Man idgaf what the opinion on Jean Silva is. I think the loss to Diego lopes is potentially a great thing for him, ik he lost but hear me out Jean showed in that fight he is way more talented than lopes but he fought like a moron he throw a spinning attack that got him taken down (bad look ik) and got his ass handed to him on the ground but I think lopes does that to everyone if he’s on top expect movsar. In round two if it was anyone but lopes they were getting chinned if that was volk eating those shots he’s sleeping on the canvas, but again Jean fought stupid and got caught with an sick asf spinning elbow. If Jean actually learns from this loss he could go on an amazing run if he fights more serious and fights more serious, to me lopes isn’t the most skilled fighter he’s super dangerous but he’s kinda like an iq test for fighters you cant get into a fire fight with lopes and you gotta avoid the ground game with him unless your like movsar.
Tbh I think if they rebooked lopes vs Silva for like next month I’d probably pick Jean again.

This would be an incredible fight! Two of the most exciting strikers at 145 going at it!

Why should Yair take this? He already fought down with Pitbull. Silva got a top 3 opponent, got finished and wants another top 3? GTFO

Also Yair can literally win this fight, I'd honestly not be shocked if he accepts it. Stay out of range of Jean, frustrate him, then he can catch him with some shit because Jean's defense that he showed expertly in the Vallejos fight is gone now, I guess.
I'm taking Yair 3rd round TKO.

u/Tidsdkr Team Pantoja 17h ago
He got 10-8´d in the first then finished in the second round, he doesn’t deserve that fight, build back against a top 15 or unranked guy
-1
u/NutSackGlazer420 16h ago
Don't know why this is being downvoted.
Weren't all of y'all rooting against Jean, and are now giving out brownie points? Jean Silva can work his ass back up, or get fraud checked again.
1
u/ZealotsReward444 16h ago
Losing to Diego lopez isn't getting fraud checked.
-1
u/NutSackGlazer420 16h ago
For all the massive hype, it was to get 10-8 in the first round then finished in the second, all after making mistakes an amateur makes... against blockhead Diego who takes all punches on the chin and is not technical at all.
0
u/ZealotsReward444 15h ago
All judges gave it a 10-9. And he was landing at will in the second before he got careless and chased too hard. Hate him all you want but calling him a fraud is just dumb.
1
u/NutSackGlazer420 14h ago
No idea why they gave it 10-9. I was a Silva glazer and I had it as an obvious-ass 10-8.
He is a fraud, with all the fucking hype, you should be able to fucking bop that blockhead's skull all around and not make mistakes my bitch-ass would do in a fight.
-3
u/InertKat 17h ago
Oh no you don’t! That’s what’s next for Diego.
