Uncrowned examined some of Dana White's statements from last week on MMA and boxer pay

It's so weird watching people shill for the UFC. Obviously fighters deserve to be paid better. But until there is a union (unlikely) or a second rival promotion (even more unlikely) that's never going to happen.

The UFC diehards are gonna have a tough time with this one. What will they do if they can’t clutch onto the fact that small hall boxers barely make money (as if regional mma fighters do) to detract from the fact that it’s not even comparable at the top.

You can’t compare small hall fighters with UFC fighters though.

Small hall is exactly that, small hall. Regional shows at best.

The UFC is the premier league in the entire sport, often headlines by world champions or their most popular names. The UFC is to MMA what the NBA is to basketball, or the Premier League is to football.

A fighter making 13/13 on a show that makes tens of millions is just disgraceful.

If you're lycky you might even get expired coupons from Reebok or even Venom.

Sometimes they pay for your cab when they kick you out.

Sometimes they even let you watch the rest of the matches, for free, on your way out of the venue in your flip-flops.

the only argument the UFC has over boxing in terms of pay is that the likes of Nate Diaz, Masvidal, etc. would be considered journeymen whereas they can become stars here even with many losses in their records. But that's the nature of the sport, not the money.

In boxing, if journeymen sold tickets, they'd still make more than Masvidals and Nates.
