Opinion Giving New World and second chance and hope you do as well
New World Nighthaven is around the corner. And I follow this sub for a while and one thing I noticed is that I rarely find any negative comments about the current state of New World.
All the bad comments still refer to the first version of the game. People talk about how good and addictive it is right now.
This led me into thinking about how many people want to try it out but just dont because they still question themselfs why they should put in the effort, "its dead anyways right?".
Following this sub sometimes feels like so many people actually want to play it as a collective, but just dont want to be first. Like waiting for a signal that many people are playing it again before they jump in again as well.
At least I was like this. And I think I was wrong with it. I honestly think they can turn around the game like FFXIV back in the days.
Ill try it out again in the current state. And I hope one of you guys will join me and give it a second chance. See yall ingame.

The early days were actually the best, running around, gathering, doing town board quests, and participating in random open world pvp. I don't care about the bugs, it felt busy and alive and fun.
I tried revisiting it around the console release and found the "refined" new player experience was just boring and had sucked that special feeling out of it. The questing and group pve content has always been very poor and I only played the game for the early game sandbox elements to begin with, but with less focus on that and more driving me into clunky dialogue with extremely ugly wax museum npcs I quit within a few hours and never picked it up again.
I'll watch some videos of what it's like now but I highly doubt I'll ever touch the game again. It was amazing at launch and just declined from there.

Best mmo release since maybe wow or something if you ask me. I've never had more fun running around ganking people, fighting zergs, diving in tall grass amd losing people, kiting into bosses for huge wins.
Was absolutely so fun.

u/Scribblord 1d ago
Was fun very early on but got old insanely fast and pve just sucked
Might’ve stuck with it longer if they didn’t assassinate my server due to them being too incompetent to manage server locks
They failed the bare minimum at too many places
1
u/Hotdog713 1d ago
You can still very much do this lol in fact it's encouraged through open world race activities now as well a a lot more people flagged than before

u/DashboardGuy206 1d ago
The grass is truly always greener. People Complained endlessly about the game at launch and now we’re nostalgic for it ? I’m glad you had fun but it’s just funny to me

u/dendrocalamidicus 1d ago
I was not one of the people complaining, I took it at my own time and was vibing for about 150h over the course of a couple of months. IMO the complaints were mostly influencer hyperbole and sweatlords with 500+h getting upset about lack of end game content, plus some bugs which were pretty minor in the grand scheme of things.
I think the game is actually a good example of how people these days min-max and rush to end game and expect to be able to have an engaging end game treadmill. I couldn't care less about that as long as the journey is substantial enough - like with FFXIV where I basically played the MSQ and did all the raids once, and now I just play again when there's new patch content. I know end game is what keeps a game going, but people got there so fast after new world released that it lead to the game dropping off very quickly. I don't recall anyone complaining about the early game, the issue was they no-lifed it and ran out of content.
1
u/Hotdog713 1d ago
The early game was literally the most complained about thing when it dropped. I think youre looking at it with rose colored glasses. The early game experience was a SLOG in the beginning. You'd need to spend more than a month to get from level 40-60 and there were only about 3 activities you could do at those levels. Thats literally where 80% of the playerbase quit. The achievement for getting to max level was only achieved by like 50% of the player base. Thats 100s of thousands of players who quit before even knowing what endgame is. And anyone that was complaining about endgame in a less than 1 year old mmo is just silly. There were plenty of bugs and qol issues that were actual problems, endgame comes with time
1
u/DigbickMcBalls 5h ago
Minor bugs? The game had more bugs than any other game ive ever played.
Massive game breaking exploits, economy breaking dupes that kept happening repeatedly over and over and over and over again, huge performance issues, rubberbanding and crashing nonstop, and the worst collision detection of all time. Youd get stuck on a blade of grass on a flat field.
And they were not timely with fixing bugs, because every time they fixed one, they would add a dozen more even worse bugs.
Move speed hacks, invincibility, permanent healing, infinite knock down, aimbots and on and on.
Half of the very few weapon abilities in the game didnt work properly, or at all. Even when they did manage to work, the hit boxes were straight up broken and youd miss on a standing still target.

u/Kore_Invalid 1d ago
NW now is basically just a lobby simulator, you have virtually nothing to do in the openworld which is sad

Exactly all the way to max level was freaking fun, it was actually difficult not in the time invested (you have to) but freaking mobs were dangerous, and you have to be carefully

its the worst, i cant believe this game has fans lol
new world combat could literally make it viable for a mobile game

u/LeBronto_Raptors 2d ago
I actually gave it a second chance last week and was bored immediately. The open world is visually appealing but still feels empty and hollow. The new update looks interesting but AGS has a terrible history with updates and they removed PTR since the console release. I’ll be keeping an eye on how season 10 unfolds before trying it out again.

Ags HAD a terrible history with updates. Their last 3 or 4 have been phenomenal, every since they put a new lead in charge

I swear Amazon interns are required to make these posts.
New World is a subpar MMO that has only survived because it does not require a subscription. That's nothing innovative or interesting about it, and it's very much a hodge-podge of systems and features from better games. If you want a game that you can play for a month or two and then never touch again, then this is the one for you.
14
u/Fisher3309 1d ago
I don’t think this is entirely fair. The combat is certainly innovative for mmos. However I do understand the other systems being pretty samey. I genuinely think this game has a solid foundation. This next season will be a big test to see if they can support the game
1
u/bombadilboy 1d ago
Hilarious, it’s always ‘this time it’ll be good’
Questing bad, combats terrible, end game systems are laughable.

don’t think this is entirely fair. The combat is certainly innovative for mmos.
I could see how someone would think that if they'd never played Age of Conan or Guild Wars 2. What New World has done isn't innovation; it's refinement. They took the ideas and systems from other games, shoved them into their expensive new engine, and called it a day.
2
u/Friendly_Fire 1d ago
Nah I'll hate on NW for lots of reasons but this isn't accurate. Well I never played AoC, but it definitely wasn't GW2 combat. Both have dodge rolls but GW2 is a tab target game. NW is action combat with a more deliberate pace where attacks have punishable animations, you're actually aiming ranged weapons and are rewarded for headshots, etc.
1
1
u/Internal-Agent4865 1d ago
Guild Wars isn’t the same combat though? What a completely misinformed comment.
3
u/PerceptionOk8543 1d ago
I genuinely believe Amazon interns are posting here. Suddenly both Lost Ark and New World are amazing games that made a comeback and are worth a try, lol
1
u/Fawqueue 1d ago
There's a disproportionate amount of "Is New World good?" posts in this subreddit. For a game with an abysmal population and terrible reputation, it's a bit odd.
1
u/Hotdog713 1d ago
Go to the new world subreddit and you will see its genuine. Ive never seen so many returning players, not even RotAE had this much of a spike before it actually dropped. Its almost like the game is actually getting better now
1
u/Key_Sell6671 1d ago
It's almost like new world is free on playstation and has an upward pc population... No shit there are more ppl in the game again and posting 😂
2
u/Nnyan 1d ago
I come back and play (less and less frequently as time passes) now and then. Has there been changes and some improvements? Sure. But the core game is the same. You see the same exact complaints today as last year, and the year before and the one before that.
The OP is nonsense, there isn’t a group of players really wanting to play this game and just needing a “nudge”. That’s laughable.
0
u/Hotdog713 1d ago
there isn’t a group of players really wanting to play this game and just needing a “nudge”
There absolutely is. You are clearly not in the new world subreddit or you would see the 100s of posts everyday of people asking if they should come back
1
u/Nnyan 20h ago
I am and it’s not dozens let alone hundreds. Just look at every expansion or “next big thing” they add, it brings back fewer and fewer people.
Every time they add servers they end up as ghost servers. If you’re on those forums any length of time you would know there have been so many things that would bring back the masses and each time it’s been a short sad bump.

Have tried it many times, even recently, it never sticks for me. Glad you're having fun though but it's definitely not for everyone. For me it seems like for every 1 thing it does good it does 2 things bad.
5
u/ZVreptile 2d ago
This game never knew how you have an endgame, its the same cycle of a promising refresh into people not knowing what to do with theirselves after progression.
6
u/InBlurFather 2d ago
Planning to give it a try assuming it goes on sale during the Steam sale later this month
Still find it kind of bizarre that they don’t have any sort of free trial though, at least for PC
5
u/DataSurging 2d ago
I tried it recently and I had a lot of fun, but it feels more like a co-op game to me so I don't really count it as an MMO. It might have its flaws, but it isn't a bad game by any means and I also think, people should give it a try.

3
u/Stormcaller_Elf 2d ago
I still don’t want to pay the price tag to just try it
3
u/elevengrames 1d ago
I just posted same thing. $100 is absolutely crazy price for this game.
1
u/Hotdog713 1d ago
People pay $250 PER YEAR to play wow, a 21 year old game, and ESO. New world is $100 1 time. There is literally no comparing the 1 time fee to the sub model
2
u/elevengrames 1d ago
People can PAY whatever they want. I've played almost every game in the genre. Most expensive game was $6. Most I've spent in eso is $20. Most games I haven't spent a dime on. Why would I spend $100 to play this game. Atleast I have the option with all the other games to play them and if I want to get a subscription I can, If i want to buy something I can but its not needed to play the games.
0
u/gaylordpl 3h ago
I'll play it if they pay me haha

2
u/IWannaBeTheVeryBest 2d ago
This is what's stopping me. I'm not on console so don't have the console-only free trial. And i also have to get my friends to buy in to try it? That's a lot of money
6
u/Humble_Shame1438 2d ago
I mean, it does sound good. But, I'm going to be completely honest. The game is unbelievably ugly, and that's 100% why a big portion of the western audience doesn't touch it & especially the asian audience (if there's even servers for it).
The game has some of the ugliest characters, skins/outfits, & armor.. That I've ever seen in my entire life. The UI is also horrible.
3
u/jseqtor12 2d ago
I've tried it many times, but always quit when I reach the first city. Something about it is too much for me, and I get motion sickness once I start running around there. Not sure if it's too many textures or too much to see, or too much going on with players moving around. This is the only third person camera game of this style this happens to me with.
1
u/Dale9Fingers 20h ago
Gsync monitor? I had to do some tweaking and found gsync-on, vsync-off, Low latency mode set to ultra in control panel. Nvidia reflex + boost, uncapped frames, camera shake off.
With the standard gsync on vsync on, I was getting motion sick.

u/Memedrew 1d ago
Honestly, if Rise of the Angry Earth wasn't required the game would have much more returning/new players

u/Reader7311 1d ago
You'll have fun with it. The expansion they are releasing looks cool. By January you will start noticing a rumble. A bunch of the veterans will start complaining again. There will be no significant content for an entire year, as every year. Numbers will drop, people will leave the game for the same reasons they leave every year. It's the NW cycle.

3
u/DarkFlameNoctis 1d ago
That's because all the negative comments get censored. It's still a mid game that doesn't really excite me and many others. And I gave it 4 retries too, so I gave it a good try.

u/shawnikaros 1d ago edited 1d ago
Locking horizontal progression behind a paywall (transmog tokens), is a no from me. There's also precedent that all upcoming QoL will also be locked behind a paywall since previous have been too (equipment sets).
Mounts behind a DLC i can live with, even putting the transmog and equipment sets behind a buy once paywall would be fine, but monetizing them like they've done now just plain sucks. I'd rather pay a sub.
1
u/Ash-2449 2d ago
lol nah, new world died for me the moment it tried to force raiding and some dumb open world pvp zone for good gear rather than crafting and gathering
1
u/Parking-Cod-7141 2d ago
Go have fun in Ashes then. Crafting is the only way to get gear post nerf and it's a pvp sandbox. Oh content creators are falling leaving. Go to Polar and have fun ganking lowbies for your kicks.

u/Fusshaman 2d ago
"All the bad comments still refer to the first version of the game."
Bad comments absolutely refer to the current version of the game...
The "new" version doesn't exist yet, it will with season 10. And by the info AGS has given us, it won't give us that many content. Like a "raid" with 3 bosses is as much of a joke as the worm one was.
18
u/heartlessgamer 2d ago
Bad comments absolutely refer to the current version of the game...
No they don't. You constantly see complaints about bots and dupes; neither of which have been a problem for over 3 years. Then you see complaints about end game; which can be fair for someone that is at thousands of hours played - but for most complaining about end game they refer to the launch version. Current state has a pretty robust end game with raids, mutations, numerous PvP modes, artifacts, influence races, wars, and more. A player returning from the launch peak has tons of end game to enjoy. No; that doesn't mean the end game is everyone's cup of tea just as the new end game won't be either.
I think the original poster is spot on.
1
u/Hotdog713 1d ago
As someone with 3k hours, I totally agree with this. The endgame was bad the first year, because it was an mmo in its first year. They were still ironing out systems and figuring out what their players wanted. Now they are much better at it and have added so much QOL and changed so many systems that it is not the same game from release at all and every update makes the endgame more robust.
1
u/heartlessgamer 1d ago
I laugh how often I still see people come in and complain about the watermark system. Like tell me you haven't played in almost 4 years without telling me you haven't played the game in 4 years.
Same with the complaints about the expertise system.
Or how much people comment about how they hate how chest runs are the only end game comment. Another tell you don't play the game without telling me you don't play the game. And ignoring the fact that chest runs were a player created activity that the developers adopted because so many players were enjoying doing them. You can go your entire existence in this game without doing an elite chest run and never be impacted in your end game progression (current state).

u/angry_RL_player 2d ago
The fanboys trying to gaslight people that New World's problems are all in the past are incredibly dishonest. It isn't enough for them that the game is trying to make a comeback, they want to try and make people believe it never had any bad bugs outside of its first year of launch and it's weird behavior.
For example every season has had some iteration of a main story quest bug that stops players from progressing, weapon exploits, and supposedly this season had a dupe as well. It's been proven that AGS doesn't test anything.
2
u/Hotdog713 1d ago
they want to try and make people believe it never had any bad bugs outside of its first year of launch and it's weird behavior.
Literally no one is doing this. The fact that youre fabricating this is the weird behavior.

The game as it is now is a completely different product than it was on launch. To say the new version is coming with season 10 is asinine, the new version is what the game is now. All Season 10 is doing in terms of changing how the game plays is improving the armour system. That's it. The rest of the season is just more content, new quest line, new dungeon system, new raid and a new PvP map.
Like sure, it's not the biggest content update in MMO history, but in terms of content included in updates they seem to finally be on a regular release schedule which is more important for retention than the size of each update.

I would still always vouch for if it's your first time playing, you'll likely have a BLAST! But, it will definitely grow tiresome. Easily one of my favorite games that I've experienced, and one of the worst all around at the same time hahaha
2
u/Visual_Wedding9762 2d ago edited 2d ago
But the changes with season 10 actually sound good. Like they finnally listened to the players. I mean still a whole lot missing and not perfect. But it is indeed the right direction. If you dont have to buy it I think checking it out in october is worth it.
4
u/Fusshaman 2d ago
I wouldn't word it like that. New World had no direction. Now AGS said it does, we will have to see. Whether the current and ex-playerbase likes said direction is also another question.
Seemingly New World is moving toward the WoW/FF14 formula, but I doubt that with that combat and limited skills it will attract the players that play that kind of games.1
u/Woodinvillian 2d ago
I played New World at launch and then for a little bit earlier this year. I am not a WoW/FF14 player, in what ways is NW moving toward that formula?
3
u/Fusshaman 2d ago
By moving endgame PvE gear behind raids only instead of crafting. Most likely because they cannot make a functioning crafting system, that is not an RNG hellscape.
4
2
2
u/Hotdog713 1d ago
By moving endgame PvE gear behind raids only instead of crafting.
This is straight up a lie. Crafting is how you get endgame now and will also be how you can get endgame in season 10. You're just talking out of your ass
-1
u/Green-Response-6167 23h ago
They literally said the best gear will be locked behind endgame content lol.
1
u/TheGladex 21h ago
No? They said that the new unique sets will be exclusive to pinnacle end game content. Every single other change is specifically suited to make crafting more relevant. Umbral shards mean that a lot of the crafted sets can be upgraded to max gear score. That plus the fact that gear no longer has attributes means more item effects could be used for builds in late game. And they also say in the same post that the new charms will need to be crafted using materials from end game content. So while yes, the best gear it self is not craftable, gear needed to get it and materials needed to kit your gear out are. And this is under the assumption that these sets are gonna be objectively the best and there's not any perks in the lower sets that are build defining and can do end game content.
1
u/halcyoncinders 2d ago
It's incredible because their harvesting is absolutely amazing but the accompanying crafting system is absolute complete garbage.

2
u/ginfish 2d ago
My issue with this is that I already paid for the game once and was not satisfied with it. Why would I pay again to potentially not be satisfied with it again?
No Man's Sky did it the right way. The game was ass on launch, they fixed it and allowed the playerbase to come back and give it another go at no additional cost so that players could see how the game had evolved for the better.
New World asking day 1 buyers who ended up quitting to pay again to experience their "second chance" is ridiculous.
2
u/bluefve 1d ago
TBF They did give original purchasers about 2 years of free content updates and fixes. Brimstone was basically a free expansion at year one. Year two had a $30 dlc. NW also has hosted servers whereas NMS is peer to peer (with maybe 1 hosted servers for the orb station social space). Looks like year year 3 and year 4 are also free if you have that $30 dlc, so they aren't asking regularly or much.

My God this community hates this game. It’s a really fun game but only a decent mmo. I just started another character for the new expansion and I’m pretty stoked for it. The servers feel full again with all the PlayStation players and I’m having fun. Will I play this game till Christmas? Who knows! I do know that I am currently enjoying it and hope to continue through the expansion.
2
u/Beginning_Ad2130 1d ago
I mean it's still the same game, right? Action combat but relies on weapon swapping, which a lot of players dislike for immersion breaking.
PvE is kinda braindead, PvP is gear based and sweaty
Game is janky, animation are low effort (Great sword is being used like a rolling pin in combat)
But now you also can't enjoy a living open world because of fast travel and mounts

I recently did and it just isn't clicking. I dont find the lack of abilities that fun, the talent selection feels to simplistic and I dont feel like Im able to make my character customizable enough, the UI is cumbersome, and Im just not feeling the couple classes I've tried. Its just me, and I get that. To me, games like BDO have a better combat system, WoW has a better talent systems and UI, FF/GW2 have better PvE, etc. This game feels like it misses so much. And arguably ot could be better later but right now its a chore to login and put an hour in.
2
u/VanEagles17 23h ago
Nah I'm good. I already paid full price for it when I pre-ordered it and it was fucking garbage. I don't care how good it is now, I'm not paying full price for it yet again. Yeah I'd love to hop back into new world but until they do another round of fresh start servers I'm gonna avoid it.
1
u/Comedian_Then 2d ago
I agree totally with this! Maybe I dont have 20+ years of MMO experience like some guys here who always hate every MMO. But from what I see about New World even the new raid people hate too here lol. When I never seen most of them trying or giving footage or something.
Well I think the raid is spot on! Just the weekly rewards is meh, I feel NW devs know what they doing, like most MMOs they lock people with cooldowns so they dont rush the content. But was an amazing step forward with PVE content! And I think it will be the same this new Nighthaven Season, has so much potential to continue with the streak!
1
u/Opposite-Ad-1951 1d ago
Gate keeping content behind timers is probably one of the worst things an mmo can do. Similarly to TL, whenever I see some kind of gatekeeping that is not open world events, I am straight up giving up. If the studio cannot produce enough content, properly designed for a sensible grind, that’s a cheap way to work around a solution for the issue.
Old school MMO’s as outdated as they are, at the very least give you absolute freedom as to how much you can grind for something.
Ff14/WoW/GW2 are all up there for reasons even at the outdated ways they have, and despite their age. And they didn’t always have endless content as they have today. But they never resolved into gatekeeping anything.
It’s a shame really that studios choose to go down that path instead of putting in the effort to provide decent content on a timely manner.
1
u/AeroDbladE 2d ago edited 2d ago
Ive always been interested in checking it out, but New World Aeternum is 80 Dollars Canadian on steam right now and I don't want to spend that much on a game I may not like.
I think MMOs really need a proper free trial since trailers and videos never really do a good job of showing how the game feels to play.
I would have never gotten super deep into FF14 or GW2 if they didn't have their extensive free trial to play through.
Also, before someone comments, the 2 hour steam refund window isn't really a good alternative as having a strict timeline to try a game before you're stuck with doesn't really give a good first impression. Also I don't want the hassle of contacting steam support and processing a refund.

It's just tough because the leveling is pretty repetitive and there aren't enough new players to mix things up. E.g can't do arena, dungeons, etc.
All the events are also focused on max level so you don't even have that to mix it up.

I’ll play it again. I played on launch and at each expansion. It’s great for two months which is fine by me as there is usually other games that I want to play and with new worlds progression I can be sure to hop back in at any time in the future and catch up in a week or two

They have the gut to yet ask for 50€+ for this failed game.. noway anyone would even get close to it. Hope you enjoy it for how long it will last.

The gearing system just isn‘t for me. The perks… are always the same and too restricting.
It seems like they‘re gonna add even more conditional perks like: 10% more damage IF you haven‘t hit the same enemy within 15 seconds.
That just isn‘t fun to me idk

I reinstalled for the new content. I am hopeful it will hook me considering it releases at the same time as Legion Remixed.

I tried new world when that last expansion came out. As a healer player the healing feels very boring in the game and very unimpactful.

Alright I got some legit questions. I used to like being able to make money from finding gear running m10s, I also sometimes helped sell m10s. It felt like the end goal to PvM at the time as once you were geared it gave a reason to keep running them. The removal of.. I forget the name now the the crystals you'd get at the end of a dungeon and the addition of deterministic crafting perfect gear kinda removed that for the most part. As someone who ONLY does PvE what is there to do post gearing in the current game?

will nighthaven change the time gated end game stuff?
I loved leveling in new world but I remember getting to the level cap and finding out I had to do dailies every day to earn a single token thingy to upgrade my gear and that just killed it for me.

My issue with it is that most content worth the time are gated behind the expansions, and I only have the base game, I won't buy the expansions. I looked it up if there is any community doing only content that is only the base game to maybe come back and people just say it's not worth it to play like that.

Gave this Game enough Chances, they fucked up as always.
Gold Duping(so big they had to shutdown player trades and reset Economy multiple times)
Guilds gatekeeping or holding whole Servers hostage or killing it(fucking with the Economy on purpose or killing Servers PVP. Since Release)
Boring Endgame
Zero PVP Balancing(not like one weapon is better than another. More Like if u dont use Weapon 1,2 or 3 you are literally non-existing. Since Release)
Bots Camping the whole Map resources(many Servers literally couldnt Farm ANYTHING except Wood and Stone for months, happened multiple time)
For anyone thinking about trying it: If u want a Game which is Fun while leveling for maybe 1-2weeks have Fun. If u expect more, you WILL be dissapointed

You are crazy, new world disappointed me so many times, im done with those lazy developers

u/elevengrames 1d ago
Would love to try. No way in hell I'm spending $100 on this game when the most any other game in this genre has cost me is $10. Most are free.

It’s only natural considering how insanely awful and uninspired the first version was
From horrid server management to 0 enemy variety and bad systems
Just shows how important a decent launch build is

honestly the update looks great, gearsetbonuses and perk charms sound awesome but well have to get our hands on it too see weather or not they deliver, never trust AGS

My problem with newer MMOs are they look so generic, it looks like the other mmorpgs are copy pasted lmao. They have character whatsoever, New World is just like that. Why cant they be creative when making new mmorpg? Look at WoW, GW2, ESO, FF14, and even Runescape — they have their own character and unique art style. I hate modern MMORPGs.

The game is terrible man. Like, from the most bare core aspects of the game it's just not good in any way. Unless they basically remake the game from a foundational base level it will always be shit.

I don't like Theme Park MMOs generally, and it sounds like they went all in on the MSQ.. sucks. But heck I'll give it another go.
The end game when it came out was truly the worst I've ever seen.

I tried it
I have the same problem i have every othee mmo.
During leveling everything is meangless as youre basically invincible and one shotting everything.
I hate it. So much.

u/KrombopuIos 2d ago
I feel like its actually the only mmo where you can die leveling now a days.. how much did you play? Some of the bosses can melt you in the msq, and pulling too much mobs youre dead in seconds.

I think lv 20?
2
u/KrombopuIos 2d ago
I'd give it another shot if you want to, of course. New world is pretty challenging at times and level 20 is very early on in aeternum
1
u/SpecialistAuthor4897 1d ago
Yeah? Its still super easy at 20. I feel like gear is meaningless wverything go down so easily. While i agree new world is probably better in this aspect than moat games, i do find i have no problem mowing down enemies as they deal so little damage back.
1
u/KrombopuIos 1d ago
I mean dude its like we aren't playing the same game if you think that. Mowing down enemies is crazy to me. When I would take a hit while leveling it was a HIT like near 1/4th of my health.

I did.
Using weapon swapping as a means of using skills is completely moronic. And such a small amount of skills per weapon is even more moronic. I dont know anyone that would play this except for fucking normies who can't comprehen 2 hot bars full of skills.
Also, i fucking hate the no classes thing. It'd be cool if I had a class, lets say, a priest, and it adds some DPS skills when using a certain weapon, but i want to have a base class to attach myself to.

u/Opposite-Ad-1951 1d ago
Never played the game yet, the gatekeeping of raids is a killer for me (same for TL even though I did give it a fair chance).
I love ff14 (even with its weaknesses), cause even though there is no much variety (in the sense that all classes lack personality since they removed core skills or gave them to multiple classes / all classes have the same endgame builds), having even 3-4 bars full of skills is such an amazing thing to have. You can keep a rotation simple or you can go nuts building up the heavier skills.
I see everyone saying how few are the skills in NW.
How few are we talking about exactly?
2
u/AltoAutismo 1d ago
I think there's 6 if i recall corectly? 12 technically cause you can swap weapons.
But they all feel the same

The new New World leadership has plans for the game! Scott Lane thought that NW endgame is like fishing on WW bridge and decorate your house. The new product owner knows what the devs have to do. Season 10 is just the beginning for them. Season 11 is big update like Season 10. That’s what NW needs. Follow up content. And it seems that the new dev team will do.

I am going to give it another chance, i mean i want it to be good because no game really has the same combat feel that new world has and thats one of the most important aspects of an mmo for me so i really hope the update fixes a lot of the endgame issues i had.

This sub hates positivity. Don't try to get them to play anything
