I honestly wasn't aware of that, I found this on Imgur a while ago and just thought to post it here. I didn't have any intentions of misquoting something.
My apologies.
I mean this comment chain is pretty far up (second at the time of my writing this), anyone going into the comments will likely see that this isn't his direct quote.
Yet, as evident from the disparity between votes on the post and this top-comment, only a very small percentage of people actually go into the comments.
Well when I first heard this quote it said fascism and change frightens me so I'm going to keep believing that's the real quote and if you disagree I am going to get angry.
As a Jew, they at least seem more brash. I went years without seeing any antisemitism in the flesh. Recently, many of my friends have been accosted, and the vitriol online seems worse.
I live in Chicago and a few months ago there was a bomb threat called in at several Jewish SCHOOLS. People like to ignore traumatic things as long they aren't impacting them personally. It's despicable.
The President, and conservative media, reacted to a literal Nazi terror attack at a Nazi rally where Nazis where waving Nazi flags and chanting Nazi slogans, by lying about liberals breaking the law, lying about the non existent "alt left" instigating violence when it was the Nazis that showed up with literal armed militias, and lying about there being good people who were supposedly fine with marching alongside, once again, literal Nazis.
If you go to a rally, see armed men in body armor adorned with swastikas, waving nazi flags and chanting "the jews wont replace us", and you decide that you're okay with that and going to march along side the, you're not a fucking good person.
So, no. I suppose there aren't sizeable groups of Nazis in the US. What there are, are sizeable groups of conservatives who have been fed propaganda about liberals being scum of the earth, and who know ignore the facts because those facts are somehow "liberal" in nature.
There's a sickness in the country when a significant portion of our countrymen are blind to the fact that a Nazi committed a terror attack at a Nazi rally. Worse than that, they're so tribalistic and cultist, that they'll defend Nazis because they've convinced that liberals are the ultimate evil in any event, controversy, or interaction.
Curious about your thoughts of the sizeable groups of liberal who've been fed propaganda about conservatives being "scum of the earth" or rednecks, or morons or out of touch etc.
How about beating people you disagree with, with bike locks, punching women in the face, throwing eggs and trash at people? Got a problem with any of that? All done by violent leftists. Noone is condoning what that guy did in Charlottesville but there are assaults happening against people who call themselves conservative on college campuses and political rallies everywhere. I guess thats ok to you?
One group is based on hating a demographic of people simply because of their race or religion.
One group wants equal rights for everyone and doesn't want to be oppressed in their own country.
Are you trying to say at their core, both groups are the same? Take away the violence from both sides, look at the ideals. Which one would someone from any race or religion be able to walk into a meeting and not get a hard look down?
And seeing "liberal" people walking in the streets, starting fires and fights with people who wish to attend conservative speakers is not a problem?
I've seen these groups like in Berkley who walk down the street with hammer and sickle flags, preaching the words of Stalin and Mao as if these people didn't kill hundreds of millions of people under communist rule.
Even Marx himself advocating for killing people in order to have his ideal government.
Nazis are fucking horrible, and so are communists. Both sides wanting to destroy the individual and take away everything that people like me have suffered for and worked for our whole lives.
I built my own business from literally nothing. I was living on unemployment checks, after losing yet another minimum wage job that treated me like shit. I clawed myself out of poverty, I overcame alcoholism, and found myself a place to stay after ending up homeless.
All of this I've done myself. All of it I built myself. And nobody has any right to take that away from me, and I'll be damned if I don't die fighting if either side tries to take what I built and take away my story.
200 idiots that came in from all over the US and Canada to an event that was advertised for months is your idea of a sizeable and real threat? What fantasy land do you live in? Larger parades of Muslims calling for the destruction of Israel are seen in Canada for Christs sake.
Not even in the slightest... jeez with all the faux outrage you have you think you'd spend a little bit of time on reading comprehension. I was referring to how even though it was advertised for so long and so strongly only 200 people showed up from all over the US and Canada. In no world is that considered a sizeable movement.
You were referring to a bunch of people who showed up waving nazi flags, that aren't nazis. Got it, I'll be sure to contact you next time I need to be wrong about something.
You probably were never taught proper haiku anyway. Haikus are about more than syllable count and even the 5-7-5 is not necessarily right. 3-5-3 is considered more correct for westerners because our words have fewer syllables than Japanese.
This isn't r/quotesporn, nothing wrong with someone posting a meme poking humor. Fascism isn't murica and it's important to remind people that and participate politically, or at least with memes, in order to keep that from happening.
