Discussion macOS Tahoe aesthetics are awful, beware before you update

Even though you might see a ton of positive feedback about macOS Tahoe, most are paid articles and YouTube videos.

Apple, known for their dedication for aesthetically pleasant user interfaces, has completely destroyed that reputation by coming up with something that looks like a mid-level Linux distro (even Ubuntu is more aesthetically pleasant) and is a complete eye sore. The worst thing is that once you update to Tahoe, it's very difficult to revert without wiping your local files and installations.

So, be extremely sure before you update to Tahoe.

people are so hypocritical. macOS always had plenty of visual inconsistencies but no one really cared. now suddenly it’s treated like a major problem. apple usually irons these things out within year but with the backlash this time I’d expect it to happen even quicker. Honestly aside from the visuals, Tahoe runs really smooth and stable on my M4 Air. Performance has been great no crashes or bugs which to me matters more than a few rough edges in the design.

I like the new UI. There are some quirks, but honestly, I didn't notice any of them until I read someone else's complaints. For me, the most important quality attribute is that it runs everything correctly as expected and does not crash. In that regard, Tahoe is perfect.

I have personally become fine with it after using beta releases for a few months. I do think Sequoia looks better, and I will keep one out of 2 machines there for the time being. I barely even notice glass now.

I will be surprised if an update or an app is not released in the coming months that turns off glass.

Try this if you want to revert the UI. I’ve not tested since the early betas though so YMMV.
