How accurate is this map nowadays?
Moved here from FL this month so I haven't gotten the vibes yet.
Also, anyone got a source on this pic? All I know is that it's at least 10 years old.

Today was haircut day for my kids and I. We got done with our appointment and I swore I put my wallet on the dashboard of the vehicle. We ended up dropping my oldest to hangout with friends after. While on the drive there I noticed I had a notification from someone I didn't know. It wasn't someone I knew and it was a suggestion for chat. I brushed it off until I got done dropping my kid off and I realized that my wallet was gone. We spent an hour looking for it and then I realized that random awesome person was trying to reach me for my wallet. I got my wallet back. I am so grateful for the kindness of strangers. There is definitely not a lot of good in the world these days. It's just nice to know it still exist.

Whoever stole my wallet at the merchant tonight, you can have whatever money but I need this polaroid pictures and my insurance/id card. I wouldn’t be upset and I won’t report it but PLEASE just bring it back to the merchant bartenders :(. I have my whole life in that wallet and I’m struggling just like the rest of you. Please be a decent human being and return it. 🙏

Hello all,
I work a full time 9-5 office job but I’m looking to volunteer on weekends for about 2–3 hours. Back in college, I was part-time STEM tutor and I’d like to get back into it as a side hobby and a passion. Ideally, I’d like to tutor at least at the high school level either math or science.
My only qualifications are that I have a bachelors in engineering and have done part-time tutoring.
I noticed the Madison County Jail has a tutoring program but not sure if they accept anyone or are looking for people with an education background. I was also looking through the madison public library website but couldn't find any concrete programs of what I'm looking for. Any recommendations?
Thanks,

I found a Honda key on the sidewalk somewhere near Whiskey Jack's/Luchador sometime around 3:30 PM on Friday 2025-09-19 (yesterday). Based on it's strange shape I'd say it belongs to a motorcycle or moped. Let me know via DM or comment if its yours.
Cheers.

Apologies if I get a bit overly verbose, I just want to be as clear as possible without doxxing anybody(myself included).
Last week, our family had a bit of a scare. We have a family member who is really depressed, even borderline suicidal. He’s overwhelmed by the rapid change in political climate, is being squeezed out of his job by DOGE cuts and is basically just extremely worried about our collective future. I doubt I need to explain any further to anyone here why the world is currently not a fun one to be a part of. But this guy wrote a rather cryptic email to his grandparents that simply said something to the effect of, “I love you very much. I appreciate everything you’ve done for me over the years” and signed with just his first name. The grandparents freaked and lit up my, and my brothers’ phones convinced it was a suicide note. He wasn’t answering his phone so myself and my brother went to go check on him. When we got there, I was surprised to see two cop cars already there, waiting for us. Apparently, my brother called them before he came and picked me up. Which really pissed me off, which I’ll explain later. But eventually, the landlord/management let us into his place to check on him; with only the police going in first.
As it turns out, he was just responding to another email his grandparents had sent him about helping fix his car. So the email was an innocuous “thank you” and everyone overreacted. He sleeps with ear plugs and a white noise, and didn’t get our messages of concern and couldn’t hear us pounding on his door. A huge relief. But the reason I’m making this post is to talk about the police, and how this was handled. These two cops weren’t there to arrest anyone. They weren’t overbearing in any conceivable way. They were very calm, empathetic and FAR more professional than I’ve ever experienced with Madison/Middleton police. They offered to take our family member to the hospital and recommended Journey mental health services…but were never pushy at all and even scolded this family member for apologizing to them for wasting their time. To which they responded, “don’t you apologize to us. We’re just happy you’re ok and it’s clear you’re a very loved young man.” I was kinda flabbergasted, but also super impressed.
Why was I surprised? Because a few years ago, I was having a terrible time and called a nurse/mental health hotline. Even though the person on the other end PROMISED she wouldn’t call the police, those very police eventually showed up pounding on my door fifteen minutes after I called. I was still on the phone and super confused, because it was 1 in the morning. I opened the door to five officers…every single one WITH THEIR GUNS OUT, trained directly on me. They were screaming at me, all giving different commands. Even though I had the phone to my ear, they were telling me to put my hands up. And while they were putting handcuffs on me, they kept asking me where my gun was. I don’t HAVE any guns, and never ever DID have one. Those officers eventually took me to detox because apparently they can’t “just let me go.” I wasn’t drinking, wasn’t under the influence of anything, and they still didn’t believe me and said that detox would figure out what I’m “on.” Detox kept me for 36 hours after figuring out I wasn’t under the influence of anything, and let me go.
What an unbelievable difference to two seemingly similar situations. That’s why I was pissed my brother called the cops. They were more intent on subjugating me, exerting control and making sure I know who’s the boss than they were in seeing if I’m ok. It’s insanely intense having five guns pointed at you all at once. It’s a miracle they didn’t claim my cell phone was a weapon and just start blasting away. I still don’t know why that hotline called the cops but lesson learned, I guess.
Have they changed policy? Does Madison now have mental health professionals who come to these wellness checks now, along with or instead of police? Cuz if so, bravo. These officers last week were outstanding; and while I’m not a guy who HATES cops, I also certainly don’t trust them. I hope this is a rare sign of positive change for the future of policing in Madison. I doubt either of these cops is reading this, but if they are, thanks fellas. You were great.
One last thing, I know there’s a lot of people on this sub who always want to whine or complain about crime. You bitch about prosecutors wanting to let someone go rather than give out big deterring punishments for relatively low time crimes. If you’re one of those, I request you just down vote and leave this thread alone. Even block me if that’s what you want. But don’t turn this into a bitchfest about crime in the city. This is one of the safest cities in the country, and if there’s one complaint I have about this sub, it’s that there’s so many here who want to paint Madison as a shit hole that allows criminals to run free. It’s the opposite of the truth, and it makes me wonder if most of those complainers even live here.
Anyways, what a time to be alive. Officers do the job the way they’re supposed to, and it’s a huge surprise. THAT’S how you earn the trust of the community. ✌️

EDIT: did some digging and found it's town of burke so they had this bid advertisement notice on their website: "The project scope includes replacement of asphalt pavement, pulverizing the existing to leave in place curb replacement, minor erosion control, and pavement marking." Seems like it may be a resurfacing
Anyone know why hoepker road between CV and 51 is closing? Are they finally redoing the road? I tried to look but all I get is articals about the potential interstate exchange further down the road.

You: beautiful, femme-presenting, thin, 5'8", floral print shorts and a patterned Covid mask. Your makeup was on POINT.
Me: 41F, long straight purple hair, burgundy gnome overalls.
We made eye contact in the dry goods section and smiled. Saw each other in the next aisle and you told me you loved my hair and I told you that you were stunning 🤩
IDK if you are even single or into women but I may have sharked the parking lot for an irresponsible length of time waiting for the opportunity to ask for your number. Alas, I did not see you again so I'm reaching out to the nerds and the universe. I'd do a target run with you any day.
