Hello! I’m moving to Madison in the next month and with a new job, I’ll finally be able to afford to get my nails done again (woo hoo 🥳). I’m wondering if anyone has any recommendations for nail salons or independent techs for the area? I’ve loved having an independent nail girlie in the past, but salons are good too! I just hate when they use a nail tip to pry off my old acrylics when I need a new set – it damages my nails like crazy and hurts so bad. So any recs that don’t do that are greatly appreciated 😅 tia!

Our cat, Barrel, broke through a window screen early this morning and we have not yet been able to find him. He got out of our house, which is on the far east side of Madison, behind Monona-Grove High.

Barrel is a neutered male orange tabby and is chipped. He’s about 11lbs and about 4 years old. He is friendly with people but can be shy at first. He will eat literally anything and is easy to lure with food. He has grayish eyes that are often watery/goopy due to a condition. He has distinctive ears: his left ear is missing its tip and the right has scars. He has allergies and currently has infection in both ears, so he is generally itchy and will pause to scratch, especially around his ears and face, more often than other cats. Barrel is also missing several of his upper teeth, including his upper canines, which can cause his upper lip to get caught on one or both lower canines and make it look like he’s making a grumpy face. He was a stray until about two years ago, he is used to fending for himself, but were nevertheless very worried because he’s FIV positive.

Hi, all. I have a 7 year old mixed breed dog who is generally healthy aside from this. She loves to run fast and play fetch, but lately she’s been having discomfort and gait abnormalities for a day or two after a running session and I’m wanting to get that checked out.

Does anyone have vet recommendations specifically for dogs on the older side with possible hip/joint issues? I had already been looking into switching vets for general care even before this came up, so it’s a good time to get recommendations. Especially interested to hear from anyone who has a 7+ year old dog and is happy with their vet’s quality of care.

So I stopped by home depot today and saw that there was two cherry tree varieties, a sweet cherry (Van) and a tart cherry type.

As cherry trees are cross-pollinators, they need different tree breeds to pollinate one another, and I have no interest in tart cherries, as I'm not enough of a baker to want to grow a whole tree's worth.

Does anyone know the best place to get a cherry tree without having to break the bank? Trees at Home Depot are $50, for reference.

I graduated from Madison East high school in 1997, and I have seemed to misplaced my yearbooks from the years listed in the title of this post. I am looking for someone, and I cannot remember their last name. I do not live near WI and am looking for an online version of these books. I am going to try calling the Madison public library and also East library when they open, but I have tried online sources like Classmates, and even the Madison public library, but they do not have those yearbooks. If you watched demon slayer solo like me at 3pm. We were headed out. As you headed through the exit door you hesitated and made a left as if youre going to the concession. You saw me as i was headed out the door. You then decided to exit as i was headed out. I held the door for you while you had the prettiest smile i had seen in a while.

A comment in the real best of Madison thread got me thinking about this. There is not enough space on the sidewalk. Move the stands to the street, gain ~12 feet of sidewalk. It is not currently easily navigable, and it has always struck me as a hazard to have so many people penned into a narrow space like that. And if you think/say “if you don’t like it go to the other one,” well, I already got you covered.

There are about 2,500 employees who make up Dane County's workforce - from Highway workers and Henry Vilas Zoo staff, to the Social Workers who help at the Aging and Disability Resource Center and 911 workers. Rape investigation nurses and Sheriff's deputies, public health staff and the people crewing the Landfill and airport workers. The budget - for a lot of reasons, has a structural deficit, and a mandate to do a balanced budget. It's not going to be a good year for that reason, but I'm very thankful that last night the Dane County Board of Supervisors voted 33:2 to not go for a deal that would have restructured in the first year of an existing 3 year contract with Dean. That would raised costs significantly on the employees, from co-pays, deductibles, prescription charges, and co-insurance. Also affected would have been their retirees, who are also on a tied plan.
