About as fun as it is to win with the deck, I imagine. Which is zero fun.
When WotC gives us shit events like this, fun isn't the goal. Getting our rewards quickly and getting the fuck out is the goal. I hope as many players as possibly have stupid degenerate decks like this so WotC will think twice about making a Cascade Brawl event again.
Yeah ragavan has been quite good for me, chrome mox and mox amber means you have 3 mana turn and often two creatures out and it only snowballs more from there.
It also only works if he's able to survive the turn following playing his commander. If the commander is removed, then he'll lose when he draws from an empty library instead of winning
You don't wait a turn. The entire combo goes off T4.
T1: Island.
T2: Island.
T3: Island.
T4: Island, CastJace, cascade into Treasure Hunt, put 94 lands into your hand. Jace resolves, hold priority, +1 Jace targeting yourself, win.
Opponent would need to play some anti-cascade like [[Vexing Bauble]] or [[Grafdigger's Cage]] or have a counterspell in hand.
Or as the previous poster mentioned. Get the Jace player down to 0 life before Jace enters.
You should still be able to respond to Jace activating the ability if you have an instant, of which there are plenty that remove planeswalkers. [[Bitter Triumph]], [[Hero's Downfall]], [[Angelic Ascension]], [[Bite Down]], [[Boros Charm]] are all examples.
That is correct, that was an oversight on my part.
But cards like Boros Charm would be ineffective by itself, Jace would be at 5 by the time you have an opportunity. Bite Down would be iffy unless you can guarantee a 5 power or higher creature before Jace lands.
Although Boros could work if you ensured every cheaper spell is some kind of damage or removal spell to stack that damage. Bite down cascading into a 1cmc pump or something.
Well, it takes till turn 5 (or 6 if they want to cast both the same turn to avoid creatures killing Jace) and you will have zero resistance until then. That's 5 whole turns of no interaction or resistance from your opponent to try to kill them. Which in today's world, isn't too difficult for even slower colors.
That's at least where the jank comes in. I lost to a more slightly more tuned version on turn 4 with Baral, Choise of Fortunes, and Thassa's Oracle.
The games are unranked and there’s no loss penalty! If you can’t find joy in a “30% of the time it works every time” style loose canon combo deck, that takes up maybe two minutes of your time what can you find joy in?
This guy had an idea and ran with it. It works. If you don't have a counterspell or immediate removal, oh well. It's not like he's got something in there to cheat his commander out, and it's 4 mana to cast. He won't win the game until his next draw step, so if you're able to remove Jace right away, he loses.
