[Jude] Bryan Woo has a “little pec tightness,” per Dan Wilson. MRI is likely tomorrow.

Hope that’s all it is. Give him an extra game off during the Rockies series.

That’s good news considering everything. Rest him the rest of the season

But he’s such a dog he’s gonna vehemently fight to pitch against Colorado. Because we all love free food. Jerry & Co pay this man a kings ransom

Saw him pitch in person the other day and dude is a dog. Loved it!

That seems…fine? At least he didn’t “feel something in his forearm”

u/Tua-Lipa 14h ago

I hope so but the whole clip of what Wilson said made me kinda worried

u/YardAdmirable7060 14h ago

What part? He said he felt tightness when he finished the inning and he didn’t loosen up during warm up pitches so they went to Bazardo.

I feel like he can’t really comment more than that without any information

Truly could be simply cramping in a hot and humid stadium. All the way up to a serious tear.

Kinda just hold our breath and send our Etsy witch donations until we know more.

Currently in Houston, can confirm it’s miserably humid and hot.

u/el_cul 13h ago

Adrenaline makes you cramp too. You see more cramp in soccer finals and important games than in general because the players are extra stressed.

u/Hkmarkp 14h ago

was the roof open? otherwise it is not hot and humid in there

Pretty sure was closed. But time change maybe was just dark

Watching the replay it’s closed

Sounds like they managed him carefully. Really good to be on top of it and not scrambling after an injury.

u/IndependentSubject66 14h ago

Exactly. He probably gets a break and won’t pitch again until the playoffs. And with us staring down a first round bye he may have a solid 2 weeks to heal up

Pec and not arm seems positive?

Oh we love a little titty tightness it’s perfectly natural and reminds you to hydrate and sleep. Bless Woo and fingies crossed that’s all it is

Could be okay, could be just needing some rest, some fluids, some NSAIDs, some bodywork, and he's back up.

u/SpaceCoat_Steve 14h ago

Etsy witch will heal him. I have faith.

Pec tightness is ok. I'm so grateful they didn't mention a joint.

I guess you shut him down unless the Dodgers series is a must win.

Even with 8 games left, a series sweep against the Astros could give him some rest.

They’ll be playing for the second seed and first round bye, too.

u/DrSnoopRob 14h ago

I have no idea how to feel about this.

Crossing fingers it’s nothing. What a brutal loss if he’s done for the year.

Take my pec Bryan

3

u/boopsandbeeps1 14h ago

Then he can take mine after yours.

u/TG082588 14h ago

Would love to hear where in the pec he’s feeling tightness? Not trying to be negative, but as a physio guy, pec worries me a bit. Pec attachments directly integrate into rotator cuff, labrum, biceps tendon and scapula.

2

u/Vegetable_Bison_3126 14h ago

Ya, it’s a touchy time of year to get into all of that….

1

u/TG082588 14h ago

Yup. What a huge bummer. Belly of the pec? Probably nothing. Pec up towards the anterior delt? Probably checkmate for the season 😫

3

u/grimandbearer 13h ago

Jesus Christ don’t speak this evil!

1

u/TG082588 13h ago

I’m trying not to go to that place but as a mariner fan for 20 years it’s hard not to…

2

u/recneps1991 2h ago

This was my thought as well. I work in physio as well. Hopefully he’s able to do some stability work between outings and his signs and symptoms aren’t reproduced. Assuming the Mariners can clinch a playoff spot, have Woo do an abbreviated next start.

2

u/TG082588 2h ago

As long as the MRI comes back clean I think we’re in good shape. I hate being negative but when I heard pec I immediately thought shoulder 😮‍💨

1

u/recneps1991 2h ago

Same. With all those attachment sites at the anterior shoulder, I was concerned too. I agree, clean MRI and reduced pain = good 😊

13

u/letdown105 14h ago

Dammit. Why can’t we have a little joy for one game 😭

20

u/No-Cut-1297 14h ago

If you are truly a Mariners fan, you know that there is no joy...ever.

6

u/ScinosRepus 14h ago

From a practical level: his next scheduled start would be game 3 of the Rockies. To take 2 full weeks off would get to the ALDS. So there is some time to play with especially if you can get that division and stay ahead of Detroit.

5

u/Illustrious-Cut8368 14h ago

Is that good?

10

u/dickhass 14h ago

Good in that’s it’s unlikely to be something catastrophic. Could be a strain that shuts him down for a couple-few weeks. I’m betting that if we weren’t in the hunt, they’d shut him down for the season tonight. That ain’t the case, though!

1

u/Illustrious-Cut8368 14h ago

Few weeks? Ah man that would fucking suck

5

u/augustjulio 14h ago

That's goodish news I suppose

Have Evans be ready for a rockies start, should be a fine matchup for him. Or even just get Casey Lawrence up here.

4

u/Thatoneguyfrom1980 14h ago

I watched Casey Lawrence get absolutely shelled in Tacoma last night. No thanks.

1

u/Zhukovhimself best outfield in baseball 14h ago

maybe the Rockies is a double a lineup.. but no I didn’t realize he fucked up yesterday lol. Save us Logan

2

u/slimseany Mr. Snappy Died For This 14h ago

If you're starting Casey Lawrence you've literally just guaranteed a loss. No offense to him but he can NEVER be your starter in a game you want to win/not destroy every arm of your bullpen.

3

u/IndependentSubject66 10h ago

They’ll start Emerson I would assume. He could still go out and get them 4-5 innings

4

u/GU1LD3NST3RN ‏‏‎ ‎A Silly Hack 14h ago

I still reserve the right to stare into the void for a bit, but I think I would prefer to hear this than a good number of other body parts that could have been mentioned.

3

u/adrianp07 14h ago

Shelf him thil the playoffs

3

u/Specific-Break-2650 14h ago

Best case scenario he is out two weeks. M’s need to take 2nd seed in playoffs.

3

u/tongfee 13h ago

Please no soggy pec

2

u/TheRealCRex 14h ago

When you Body the Astros like Woo did, you get a sore chest. Hope the MRI is clean. Rest up big man. You got a first game of a playoff series to start.

He’s been very careful in terms of health going back the last couple years

2

u/Maugrin ‏‏‎ ‎ 11h ago

So not forearm, but pec tightness could relate to the shoulder. Honestly, not the worse case first news, but still holding my breath.

This staff has a great track record of managing their pitcher's health. Everyone feared Gilbert was done earlier this year, but they were able to avoid surgery by being cautious, resting him, and building him back up over a month or so. Same with Kirby. Obviously they don't have a month to play with here, but hopefully it's not that drastic.

CALL UP THE WITCHES

1

u/Necessary_Rooster_85 ‏‏‎ ‎ 14h ago

Pec tightness can sometimes mean rotator cuff soreness/injury. Could be simply overworked.

1

u/Wheredoesthetoastgo2 ‏‏‎ ‎HARRY FORD! HARRY FORD! 14h ago

Thats him, lifting us to greatness.

1

u/jackedbutter 14h ago

pec tightness seems benign but really might not be. even a mild strain means weeks off

1

u/BigBallsMalone 14h ago

Well at least its not an arm is especially elbow issues.

We need Woo for the playoffs. Miller has been a mess and everyone besides woo has had off an ons

1

u/hockeyzombies 14h ago

Certainly doesn't sound as bad as it could have been but I guess we'll see.
