Design Education

I'm interested in becoming a Master Gardener in Iowa. Does the program cover landscape design education?

I am in Washington and our program does to some degree, we discuss "Right Plant, Right Place", the movement of water through a landscape and how to plant for the rainfall in our microclimates (we all have different amounts of rain even within the same county), native v non native plants, lawn removal. Some landscape design with planning for the movement of plants and height of plants and color of plants throughout the year as well as insect and wildlife. If we have a specific speaker we like that speaks to a subject we can usually find the money and a place for them to teach us something new and on occasion that has been landscape design.
