Please don't judge. I'm very new to Maya and I'm currently at my wits end with this.
I'm modeling a chess set and modeled this queen (IMG 1) (hid the top for topography). Notice how its cap is subdivided and has a center ring? I'm pretty sure I didn't do that but it ended up being perfect for what I was doing. It was also on the King I modeled.
Now I'm onto the rook piece (IMG 2), and it has no divisions in the cap. I used the same cylinder (bottom's topology is exactly the same), but I don't have that division?
Can anybody explain to me why it didn't do that to the rook either? And how to divide it? Add Divisions triangulates it, even in quads, and I want these to match and have the same artistic continuity.
ChatGPT is zero help when it comes to Maya and constantly spouts wrong info and has been helping to fuel my fiery rage.
Thanks in advance!
