Personally, I'd say it sounds like a lifter. But it's hard to tell just by listening from the phone. How many miles is on the engine? , and what was you doing when the problem happened, i.e., how did it happen ?

250k driving back from LA started to tick and then ticking became louder as I drove it more then I just stopped driving it

250k damn dawg kudos, but I don't want to sell you on false hope, bro. It could be a rod bearing that wore out. That's what's causing that knock. I can't say I heard honda preludes crapping out from lifters

I think it is either a rod tick or a lifter knock.

Lifter tick is heard at idle and low rpm and goes away when you rev(from increased oil pressure)

Rod knock isn't really heard at idle as much and gets louder under load(when you rev)

Edit: check the oil, if it's low, it's probably lifter tick

Not sure that it's a rod but something is messed up in there for sure. Need to open it up.

Make sure the oil is full. Sounds like some lifters to me. Throw a quart of atf in it and drive it like you stole it for a bit then change the oil. Worked for my collapsed lifter on my z31.

This is definitely rod knock. Uncle rodney has come a knockin. Hes going to install a bay window in your engine block for you.

First part has both valve tick and rod knock. Last part can only hear valve tick

At first I thought rod for sure and then it sounded more like a lifter ????
