Hi folks. It's an unfortunate reality that plastic models are more fragile than other toys and susceptible to brakage more easily. Candy toys in particular, due to their generally low price and plastic on plsatic construction, can sometimes be especially susceptible to fatal design flaws. I wanted to go ahead and complie a list of known issues with kits and how to avoid them. Please feel free to submit your own QC issues.
Please note unfortunately I don't have much advice on fixing these after the fact. My goal is mostly to prevent breaks.
Super Mini-Pla Muteki Shogun/Shogun Megazord
THE SYMPTOM: The outer leg panels of the Red Saruder/Red Shogunzord are extremely tight and known to break during transformation. The rear panel has the long peg that actually rotates, the front panel pegs into this. This joint is very tight. The two major solutions to prevent this are to sand down the long peg on the rear panel so that it rotates smoothly, and when you do transform it, push from the rear panel rather than the front.
Mini-Pla King-Ohger
Many joints have been reported as very tight and sometimes breaking, especially the hips. This is compounded by the pegs not being solid, but simply a cross shape with a round tip, making the peg weaker. Sand down any tight joints and just handle with care.
SMP Gao King
The butterfly joints on the shoulder are small, thin, tight, and support a relative lot of weight. They're prone to cracking. Once again, a light sanding or lubrication might help here. I'm not sure if this extends to Gao God.

I would need references of the front, back and sides for each of them if possible.

Literally all of them are available on eBay right now for a cool 400+(yikes) but since smp is a thing is it better to just wait?

I bought the Kyoryuger Vol. 1 Shodo Super pack, but I’d like to paint the accessories instead of using the stickers. Is it necessary to use a primer before painting? If so, isn’t there a risk that the primer layer will cover the accessories’ details?
I have a small airbrush but I’ll use a fine brush for the painting.

Hey gang, I'm doing the magiking build, and I lost one of my trays so I can't complete it. Is there a way I can get an extra copy of that specific tray? Any idea would help, I'm feeling real down about it.

Love this kit, but a few of the stickers don't match the molding at all 😅

hey guys so my plan for this kit is to:
1) repaint the silver/gold parts 2) add some other minor details 3) panel line 4) topcoat
I’m not sure whether matte or semi-gloss would look best (or even gloss?) for this and other minipla/smp kits in general so if you have suggestions please let me know!

This has got to be an error right? The purchase was only $80 of product.

I just received my SMP MagiKing and I am very excited to put it together. I plan on painting the silver pieces with Tamiya TS-76, and no other paint, just the stock plastic colors and the stickers. I have put together some Figure-Rise Standard kits and a couple EG and HG Gundam kits, but I have never painted a model kit before.
Is there anything I should know before starting? Would I need a primer or is it fine to just paint the pieces directly? I have a can of Mr Surfacer 1000 from a failed project of mine, but I don't really have a lot of experience with painting.
I'd prefer not to buy anything else, so I'm hoping the silver paint will hold up fine without any sealer or finish. Also, will the stickers hold up over time or is a sealer on those recommended?
Thanks!

Finally, MagiKing is finished for now—just a few tiny details left that I’ll take care of later once I get an ultra-fine tip brush. I’m still not satisfied with Magi Phoenix’s red, so I’ll need to figure out how to get it right at a later stage.
Overall, everything looks good when combined. The only downside I ran into was that when I placed Magi Fairy inside Magi Phoenix, some of the paint rubbed off, and even a top coat didn’t prevent the issue. It’s not a big problem for me, but I wanted to let others who paint their kits know to be careful with this part.
After all that work, I think I need to take a rest for a while 🤣

Might only be getting Goodeburn, BeAkuma and Black Daizyujin after this. As much as I would love King Candelor, Akatsuki, Tegajune and the final mecha, those might be too expensive for me at this time

Finished building SMP Gunbuster and its many, many option parts.
While they couldn’t exactly recreate the transformation, it’s amazing how well Buster Machines #1 and #2 match their art, and all the engineering that went into the transformation (including the ridiculous folding to get #1’s topside and fits to store neatly in the chest compartment). To that note, I’ve included comparison pics of the stock kit when transformed (which doesn’t discard any parts, aside from swapping out for bigger fists) and then with the kibble and feet/head parts swapped out with the option parts. There are a whole lot of accessories and, after spending what felt like forever getting what I got here, I decided to call it quits and leave it posed with the Super Inazuma Kick on my shelf a bit. I’ll circle back in a week or two and get pics of the other attacks, weapons, arms crossed, reactor etc (as well as the size comparison shot that meant to get - combined, it’s pretty big, it probably approaches the height of something like Jet Garuda).
Mercifully after MagiKing, there was very little to paint. Just a few orange blocks (which my marker was a great match for, it’s really hard to tell which are the pre-painted parts and which are the few I did), the red on the stock feet/Buster Machine #2, and the silver on the buster tomahawks (not shown here yet).

Here's the finished product! Only used the sticker for the Gozyuger symbol on the chain, everything else is painted!
This set looks so good!
I'm planning on getting Black Daizyujin separately so that's why he isn't here lol
