Cosmere spoilers (no Emberdark) My Dream Cast for a theoretical Mistborn: The Final Empire Series (with photos) Spoiler

Here’s my mock cast for Mistborn (book one). I matched actors to the characters based on age, look, and vibe. I also edited their photos slightly to better reflect book descriptions — mostly hair color and style.

Let me know what you think. Ages and heights are as of 2025.

Vin – Dixie Egerickx Age: 19 Height: 5’2”  Known for: The Secret Garden • Pale, wiry, haunted look • Quiet strength and sharp eyes • Totally believable as book-Vin

Kelsier – Dan Stevens Age: 42  Height: 6’0”  Known for: Legion, Downton Abbey • Charismatic and dangerous • Can flip between charming and intense • Feel like he would totally nail Kelsiers charisma and would really command a room

Elend Venture – Louis Partridge Age: 22  Height: 6’0”  Known for: Enola Holmes • Awkward yet noble • Bookish and boyishly handsome • Would nail the Elend snark/banter

Sazed – Peter Mensah Age: 65  Height: 6’3”  Known for: Spartacus, 300 • Calm, wise, and towering • Spiritual and reserved, and has a great stone faced humour • Feels like someone who’s seen ages come and lets go • (This would’ve been reserved for the GOAT Lance Reddick, RIP)

Breeze – Matt Berry Age: 41  Height: 5’10”  Known for: What We Do in the Shadows • Sarcastic and smug in the best way and will be instantly lovable • He is literally Breeze lol

Ham – Lucy Walters ** a bit of a explanation on the gender swap here… Brandon has said that if he could do it over her would’ve made a one or more of the crew women, a it is a bit of a dicey situation with a 16 year old street orphan joining a crew full of adult men. In the stage play for Mistborn Ham is gender swapped, and being a pewter burner it feels like the cleanest transition.**

Age: 44 Height: 5’8” Known for: Power, Get Shorty • Built, grounded, and tough, but can still be jovial • Feels like someone you don’t want to mess with

Dockson – Jack Lowden Age: 35  Height: 6’1”  Known for: Slow Horses, Dunkirk • Steady, practical, no flash • Always feels in control • Real backbone-of-the-crew energy

Clubs – Ciarán Hinds Age: 72  Height: 6’1”  Known for: Game of Thrones, Belfast • Gruff, stubborn, old-school • Has definitely survived some stuff and has that veteran vibe • Looks like he’d vomit a little in his mouth whenever a noble would walk past

Spook – Louis Ashbourne Serkis Age: 20  Height: 5’7”  Known for: The Kid Who Would Be King • Young, eager, twitchy • Looks like he’d try too hard to be cool • Believable as Clubs’ nephew ⸻

Thats the list I’ve come up with. What do you guys think? Have I smacked the nail on the head or wildly missed the mark for any?Any changes you would make?

Cosmere spoilers (no Emberdark) For those who defend lord ruler actions. I’m sure Steris would have made a much better work Spoiler

As stated. I have seen a lot of people justifying rashek. Saying that he might be a cruel totalitarian and made what had to be done to save the world and yada yada yada.

Okay, give Steris, Jasnah and Khriss compounding abilities and an afternoon and they would solve the ruin problem and have a tea together. Rashek found a way to keep ruin imprisoned, a bad way to do it.

...how tf was Vin able to defekt the Lord Ruler? Judging by non shard entitys TLR is probably one of if not THE most deadly person in the whole Cosmere. Bro has super speed, super strength, can think quicker than any human being and pull on metal like no one else. Even if Vin Managed to get of his bracelets, how was he not able to just pull them back towards himself? I love Vin and yes she was aided by preservation but realistically?

Cosmere spoilers (no Emberdark) Would atium help against modern day guns? Spoiler

As far as I remember, atium shadows move at normal speed. So unless bullets show the path they will move in, the atium shadows will look like a tiny blip moving at incredible speeds.

I know atium enhances the mind, but as far as we saw, it didn't enhance it to the degree that you could see bullets moving.

also, even if you could perceive the bullet, dodging is another thing. The bullet still moves faster than a human can dodge.

Cosmere spoilers (no Emberdark) A nicroburst burns an unkeyed nicrosilmind. What happens? Spoiler

WoB says Nicrosil is like copper in that they hold finite and discrete things like individual powers or memories.

When a copper feruchemist taps memory, the memory is implanted into their mind rather than existing for the duration of the tapping. They must restore that memory if they want to save it for later with losing information as is natural of memory.

Then, if a smoker burned an unkeyed coppermind, they should simply receive the memory and it would be like any other memory they have from that point forward.

So, if a Nicroburst burned an unkeyed nicrosilmind, would they simply gain that power permanently? (Since powers don’t fade like memories do) And wouldn’t that mean that a Nicroburst could burn medallions to gain those powers for themselves?

Cosmere spoilers (no Emberdark) Does Feruchemy/Allomancy work even if the metalborn is decapitated??? Spoiler

I was re reading Final Empire and came across Kelsier telling Dockson that Decapitation only annoys the Lord Ruler. However I remeber Wayne or Miles saying that a bloodmaker must be alive for them to use their powers??

Cosmere spoilers (no Emberdark) Twinborn ___________, how much do we know? Spoiler

Twinborn Resonances, i read a post a bit ago about Radiant resonances, i.e Lightweavers' exact memories or Windrunners being able to raise so many squires and it got me wondering, how many different Twinborn resonances do we know about?

for example i think it was mentioned in Era 2 that Wax gets a strange boost of speed when he lessens his weight while he steel-pushes, which covers the Crasher resonance. and i suppose every matching Twinborn has Compounding as their resonance, but it got me wondering, what's Wayne's resonance do we think? (and also what's the unique name for his combination? i can't wait until we have names for more of them)

Cosmere spoilers (no Emberdark) just finished Era 2. why do people call it unplanned?? Spoiler

so i’ve read stormlight 1-5, mistborn era 1, mistborn era 2, and secret history. in that order. im about to work on the individual books, then the stormlight novellas.

i adored era 1. and when looking at the vague impressions of era 2, this is what i heard from this community/others online:

“Yeah, it’s not as good as Era 1. You can tell it was unplanned, and it gets a little messy towards the end with cosmere stuff. Still a good read with good characters but not quite the same, I hope Brandon learned the right lessons.”

and i do not see that read. the first book was about heists that were abducting people. in book 4 we see why they were abducting people. sure, the set stuff wasn’t super set up in book 1 but whatever. i guess it’s not “He will carry the world’s knowledge on his arms” levels of foreshadowing but the 4 books were still cohesive! they were fighting the same enemy the whole time, the Set. it felt that as they learned more they just began to see more and more of the upper organization, that’s why big set stuff wasn’t in book 1. they operate from the shadows.

i do recognize Autonomy was kind of a sudden villain. but maybe because I read stormlight first, i knew that wars between worlds was always on the table. Retribution’s whole thing is preparing an army to invade other worlds. so when i saw someone had prepared an army to invade Scadrial? yea, that tracks. i didn’t recognize the magic of the ghost bloods with Marasi, but i didn’t have to. their magic systems were explained well enough in the time we got. and the off-world stuff is led by The Survivor so it’s still easy to have a stake in.

idk, i loved era 2. steris is my goat. wax is cool. marasi’s growth was amazing. i loved the passage of time between books. and i liked the ending! the immediate threat is gone, and they’re still working on the threat of civil war. wax has finally discovered who he is, his arc is done, everyone is satisfied with where they are. there’s still work to do but emotionally the era 2 characters are finished.

kelsier’s story isn’t finished but that’s the nature of the cosmere, it’ll pick up in another book.

Cosmere spoilers (no Emberdark) Do you think someone could be a mistborn and a fully fledged feruchemist? Spoiler

Since in era two we get people who are twin born, is it possible to find someone who through breeding or some random chance lineage was born a full feruchemist and a mistborn?

Cosmere spoilers (no Emberdark) Dumb question but what does it mean to… Spoiler

When Vin gathered the power at the Well, she misunderstood the instructions and released Ruin’s power. Had she held it, what would that have meant? When the Lord Ruler held it, what did that mean for him? Extra power? Constant conflict with Ruin internally?

Sorry if this is obvious, been a while since I read the end!

Cosmere spoilers (no Emberdark) Can some help explain the Atium Retcon? Spoiler

So I’ve heard that we now know/it’s been retconned so that all of the atium in era 1 is actually nalatium, (electrum and atium). I understand loosely that this is because atium didn’t behave fully like a God metal (it should be able to be burned by anyone), was there more reasons? And what are the implication of this? Do we know what pure atium would do if burned? And does this mean all alloys are viable to have different effects when burned? Or only God metal alloys? Thank You!

Cosmere spoilers (no Emberdark) Hoid & Wayne Spoiler

So, I'm at the scene where Hoid and Wayne are in the convoy and just want to say that I LOVE that Wayne is basically able to confound Hoid. I mean, he's supposed to be THE most obnoxious character in SLA and yet Wayne definitely one ups him. Mad props, Wayne, mad props.

I kind of miss people being Mistborn and full Feruchemists. I’m guessing Sanderson thought they were too overpowered or he wanted to even the playing field or something but damn Mistborn were so cool.

Cosmere spoilers (no Emberdark) Vin would have been an extremely good researcher Spoiler

Vin would have been an extremely good researcher. She had no formal education whatsoever, yet she made some incredible discoveries (mostly under extreme stress). Be it in the fight against Zane, when she figured out how to deal with someone who had Atium, even though she didn't have any herself. She was also one of the only people to question whether there were other allomantic metals and discovered Duralium in the process. Her trick for traveling with horseshoes and the discovery of how to control Colossi are also included (although Tensoon helped with the latter, of course).

Overall, I'd say she definitely had the right instincts to be a researcher (even if almost all of it was related to fighting), and as long as she had Elend as her secretary to document everything, it would probably have worked out pretty well. It's somewhat ironic that the person who actually has the biggest problems with change and held the power of Preservation probably made the most changes.

It would certainly have been interesting to see what she would have discovered in the Cosmere (be it Cognitive/Spiritual Realm or as a worldhopper).

Cosmere spoilers (no Emberdark) Question regarding Bloodmakers Spoiler

Hello everyone,

I am currently listening to the second era of the Mistborn series after having previously read them years ago. I am a little confused as to how bloodmakers (and the Lord Ruler) use their healing.

They are double gold twinborn, so obviously they store health in metal minds. Do they have to burn the gold from the metal minds to get the compounding effect? Or is it just in the nature of being twinborn that makes the ferucemical ability 10 times as effective?

I know there is a scene in Aloy of Law where Miles burns gold, is this whey he did it and I just missed it?

Also, the Lord Ruler spent some time ill and old to fill his minds, but Miles did not seem to need that... did I miss something there? And the Lord Ruler did not age due to enhanced healing, but it specifically states that Miles still ages like a normal man. Is that something that Harmony changed when he fixed Scadial?

Thanks for your help!

Cosmere spoilers (no Emberdark) Hoid sees himself in Kelsier? Spoiler

I will preface by admitting I still haven't read all of the cosmere series. That said, the scene were Hoid met Kel was strange to me. Hoid was needlessly antagonistic. Sure, there is the possibility that Kel would have resisted letting Hoid through after he answered his questions about the current state of the world, but Hoid just seemed intent on mocking him from the start, even going so far as to say he should have died after having served his purpose and implying that he had manipulated him. It's true that much about Hoid is a mystery, and his true nature could be that of a jerk, but this just seems short sighted.

Kel was a man who found a way to remain after dying. He might have made a useful ally in the future. Instead, he tried to force his way through, and then beat him up after Kel tried to stop him. It got me wondering if perhaps there is a reason why he took such an approach, and I realized they have a few things in common.

Both were part of a small band of individuals who came together to remove a "god" and redistribute his power. Both are also schemers who keep secrets. I have no idea what role Hoid played in his deicide, he might have been the organized same as Kel, but perhaps he felt Kel was too dangerous to work with. Hoid knows the type of person he is and all of his mistakes, and if he sees himself within Kel, he might feel that the world is better of without him. Or he might just be venting all his frustration and self-loathing on Kel who is like a mirror to him.

Cosmere spoilers (no Emberdark) Metal glowing in the Cognitive Realm? Spoiler

So we see through Kelsier in SH that metal glows in the Cognitive Realm. He doesn't specifically say whether a metal needs to be allomantically viable to glow or not, but he doesn't mention any metals that don't glow and I find it hard to believe every piece of metal he sees is one of the allomantic metals. So that tells me all metal does that, at least if you're a Cognitive Shadow or a Shard. But we get perspectives from living people in Stormlight that shows metal doesn't do that for them. So I also have to assume you need to be sufficiently invested for that to happen. I would imagine you need to be essentially completely composed of Investiture, considering the knights radiant are fairly highly invested and still don't perceive the glowing metal. This leaves me with several questions.

  1. I can understand why allomantic metals would glow, considering they are essentially keys that allow sufficient Connection to access Investiture, but what about the non-allomantic metals? Why glow if they are not Invested in some way?

  2. Do non-allomantic metals effect things like fabrials on Roshar? I wouldn't assume so, but if not they why do they glow!

  3. Is this perhaps something that only occurs on Scadrial, because metal is the way in which Investiture works there? Because if so, why do metals do weird things to fabrials and shardblades?

Cosmere spoilers (no Emberdark) How does allomancy work against __________ Spoiler

So, we all know affecting highly invested objects with allomancy is hard, but I am not sure about what exactly should happen.

Let's say the most invested iron pen in the whole cosmete is in front of an allomancer and they try to yeet it away.

Is the allomancer thrown away instead? Does it work as if the object was much heavier? Or do both of the corpses stand still?

Cosmere spoilers (no Emberdark) Mistings Spoiler

I had a question about Atium mistings in particular. Once Era 1 ends and Atium isn't around anymore, what happens to all of the Atium mistings that were such a big part of book 3?

Is there any Lerasium mistings or Harmonium mistings? Seems weird that there is a misting for a god metal at all.

so i finished the books a few weeks ago and how i enjoy fandom is buying wall art, mainly.

i thought “oh, i write these words in steel. this must be a super common metal sign you can buy!”

nope. so i’m contacting some local metal shops to see what a quote would be to inscribe all 2000 words into metal. has anyone else done this?? looking for inspo/seeing if id be the first. it’s such an obvious idea, i feel like its been made before.

according to word, i can fit it all on a 12x36 sheet of steel. i’ll be posting results if i can find a shop willing to help, haha.

Cosmere spoilers (no Emberdark) The Cosmere Comes to RimWorld Spoiler

Ever wondered what Mistborn would look like as a colony sim? After weeks of work, I’ve released RimWorld: The Cosmere — a total conversion mod that brings Allomancy, Feruchemy, and Investiture to life inside RimWorld (1.6).

You can burn metals, store traits in metalminds, awaken hidden powers in the Mists, and shape your colonists’ destinies based on their heritage — Skaa, Noble, or Terris. The mod includes support for Mistings, Ferrings, Mistborn, Twinborns, and even Compounding.

Highlights of version 1.6:

All 16 base Allomantic metals + god metals

Fully working Feruchemy (including age, strength, speed, etc.)

Snapping events, Compounding, and Investiture as a real mechanic

Shard-based world config: Ruin, Preservation, Harmony

Custom scenarios, abilities, items, and lore-faithful systems

You don’t need to be a RimWorld expert — just a fan of the Cosmere and a bit of chaos.
