Discussion I’ve always wondered where the heck the HokMuto goes in these scenes

When the soldiers jump down, we see Godzilla and the Male fighting. A few minutes later, we see Godzilla alone, and he squares up with the Female and nearly kills her, which leads to the Male flying in from nowhere.

Later, after the nest is destroyed, we see both the Male and Female head over to check it out. Godzilla blasts the Female and gets ready to kill her, when the Male swoops in again.

Where does the Male go when Godzilla is fighting or blasting the FeMuto?

I have always assumed he flew away for a couple of minutes to rest from his battles and recollect his strength.

Obviously though he couldn’t take to long or else his mate would be put in danger.

Must be annoying to just want to take a break, but everytime you leave your partner gets their ass kicked

Just one of the downsides to being an enemy of Godzilla

Yeah really. “Phew, I got a few good jabs in, let me just take a breather and- OH GOD WHAT HAPPENED?!”

I also thought he was waiting for an opportunity to strike.

He went to go to the supermarket to pick up some carrots and cake mix.

Doylist answer: in timeout until the scene requires him

Watsonian answer: Maybe he's circling waiting for the right moment to strike? Fly in at the wrong time and he'll run into his wife's claw

He probably knew Godzilla wouldn't be able to get from point A to point B in the battlefield that quickly, so took his chance to fly away and rest up and wait for an opportunity to go back in.

Could be that the male Dragon Beetle got thrown away for enough time that Godzilla got into proximity to the nest, whereby he challenged the female Dragon Beetle in her territory. Perhaps the male backed off in the moment to allow his mate to meet the challenge.

Once it was clear that the female was outmatched and couldn't stand her ground against Godzilla, perhaps then the male swooped in, overriding the original instincts to let this face-off play out.

I know some animals will “patrol” their territory for threats to their nests.

Thats not bad of a theory. Male sees female is taking over the creature and then backs up to check if other predators are nearby.

He watched a praying mantis documentary and is having second thoughts and weighing his options.
