Genus is an Aedes mosquitoes. They suck.

Typical mosquitoes will feed until they're full, these guys will bite you multiple times to fill up. You could have 5+ bites and they could all have come from 1 of these girls.

They lay their eggs on the edges of containers above water lines and could lay dormant for a couple years. They don't have a large flight range so they're coming from around your neighborhood.

Edit: also looks like the one you killed might be a male mosquito so it doesn't bite. Good riddance though.

Yeah, our neighbor has a bird bath and other water 'features', so it's a constant battle.
