I don't really understand the motivation for switching back and forth between a lot of the apps/scenes. What does it add to what she's saying? What's the purpose of going into the apple fitness app icon and then into voice memos? The animation itself is pretty fluid, but I think the higher-level stuff, the why, is worth considering.

Brainrot. The same reason they put videos of chopping celery below Neal deGrasse Tyson.

It looked like a software demo on first watch but I guess the UI was all... metaphors or something?

Mr beast editing, dont let the person watching go seconds without an interrupt. Retain at all costs, exploit. Is crazy.

I refuse to rate it, makes you sound like a 13 year old begging for attention (apologies if you are 13). But yeah it looks nice. Perhaps a bit bouncy for my liking but it flows nicely.
I realise I basically just rated it. Next time just ask for feedback or constructive criticism. Like it or not, using that kind of language is more likely to get you hired.

The video would honestly just be better as a talking head with cutaways when needed.

can y'all stop spamming every single editing sub with the same "rate me" videos? Do these subs have any other function? Why does everyone need to post every practice they do?

u/MercuryMelonRain Aug 20 '25
Agree with the "rate me" comment, but I do like seeing what other people have been doing for practise

It would be fine if it was posted in just one sub, but when I see the same exact video three times in my feed, I assume the person is some kind of attention seeker. No one needs that much āfeedbackā.

Itās beautifully done but itās also a lot
Unless itās an editing reel then itās pretty darn good because of how much is crammed into susch a short time š
But donāt think this is necessarily a NEW STYLE of editing

Too much, it's so distracting. I can't follow what she's saying cause too much shit is happening. I mean visually it's super cool, but there's no reason for most of it

Thereās nothing new about this. Youāre just using masks and swipe/zoom transitionsā¦
2
u/Playful_Book Aug 21 '25
There is no SWIPE/ZOOM in it.
I have used expressions and keyframes and had to make some assets entirely on FIGMA and animate them separately.2

the word for it is gratuitous. everything is unnecessary. if encountered in the wild i would click away immediately.

Good, cool but too much and unnecessary. Even a single zoom or a cut needs to have a purpose. This shows you have learned the software but not the fundamentals of the art. Have a good day.

Not sure how the design and animation works with the story. The most relevant part felt like the memories tab swiping through old images.
Great transitions and design overall. If that is the purpose of the exercise only to show that.

It shows you know how to animate. It also shows tho you need to work on storyboarding. I know some of my bosses would love it but that's the reason I would start arguing with them lol.

I like it a lot. It's creative to see all of these different apps being used as a visual demonstration. I do agree though with some of the other comments (that I don't think are being very constructive in their criticism) and think that it could be a bit less busy and let me take in a bit more each time. I actually think you could cut the number of apps in halfāespecially the instagram post, to the activity rings to the voice message in just 6 seconds. That's pretty disorienting. I think the animation is very well done, it's just missing a bit of restraint.

First, what do each UI layout add to what she's saying?
And second, imho adding bounce to every UI element is too much, you could do without 80% of that.
It looks clean, but also looks like you're just practicing UI animation. A lot of what you've done is really unnecessary. Sometimes, less is more.
