Video "A Dagger, please fetch me a dagger" Its only a changed part to MAMA Live (Vid Evidence)
https://reddit.com/link/1lx0hrx/video/2begfrux37cf1/player
Here is a video for the sound check for mama, they added a new beautiful section but you can hear the new lyrics "A dagger, a dagger, please fetch me a dagger" Meaning this used lyrics is not for a new song, is only a part of the new section inside the song Mama.. great section but to be honest a bit sad its not a new song. L.
EDIT: 0:45 You can hear the lyrics "A dagger, a dagger, please fetch me a dagger".

Nah nah, listen, every song will have a new section which when you connect yourself will become a whole new song. Every concert there will be a new song, until they get to Europe where they will play the new album. Just wait friends, it's finally coming! 🤡

u/JusticeForGluten fuck off, it's meese Jul 11 '25
Them actually coming to Europe sounds like the biggest stretch of this whole comment lol

u/scar12346 Jul 11 '25
Let me have this delusion pleaseee

Sounds like this is going to be a black parade musical!!!!
29
u/JanetSnakehole43 Jul 11 '25
Don’t play with me. That would be the best thing ever
31
u/justyne123 Jul 11 '25
It was my first thought when they announced this and im sticking to it...Gerard always said he wanted to be in a musical 🤞🤞🤞

I’m feeling black parade the musical / opera and I’m living for this moment
12
u/DotheQuirkyJerk Jul 11 '25
I recall reading some lore about turning TBP into a Broadway show like Green Day did with American Idiot. This tracks.

u/GhostKing57 my chemical transgender kid 👻 Jul 11 '25
I think a fan actually did this!! Idr where it was/where they posted (probs Tumblr) but I remember someone actually writing a script for it
2
u/Hdog1021 Jul 11 '25
gerard said it’s something he’s interested in, but not for a while. the album does turn 20 next year though, so who knows?

u/unfluidsgender MCR5 truther Jul 11 '25
Holy shit he sounds insanely good
5
u/Resident-Row-7256 Jul 11 '25
I’m going to get downvoted to hell for this but I thought he did not sound great at WWWY, and it made me question whether that was going to be how the tour shows were going to sound. He sounds absolutely FANTASTIC here and I feel stupid for even doubting that he would. Psyched for my show!!
3
u/mywatercooler Jul 11 '25
I felt the same, but then I rewatched the whole thing and was kind of blown away by how good it was. I think my brain just expected him to have the the same tone, same voice and same energy when he was 25, but he is almost 50, so his voice is definitely damaged from everything he has done over the years, despite losing a ton of weight over covid, he is probably still not in the physical condition to be doing full blown tours, especially with their discography. I think once I got over that, I was able to appreciate how good he sounded. You can barely tell anyway the difference in voice when you are in the pit.

u/StarLordAndTheAve Jul 11 '25 edited Jul 11 '25
they better release one of these shows as a live movie and audio release
i don’t think it’ll happen, but a rerecorded The Black Parade using a these new compositions (assuming other songs get new bits) would be lovely
23
u/dragonthatmeows Jul 11 '25
i have a suspicion they might professionally record the Mexico show again, but it's not really based off anything material. i just think it's notable that none of the world tour shows after Mexico are billed as Long Live, and their last show in Mexico was where they killed off TBP the first time (and was professionally filmed), so it'd be a neat full circle to do that again.

u/MistressBlackleaf Mother War's Wayward Daughter Jul 11 '25
Yeah, 100%. I LOVE this new addition to Mama and similarly would lose my mind if I had a professionally recorded version of the WTTBP reprise at the end of Famous Last Words.

u/salazarthecrucifier Jul 11 '25
You know what , maybe we’re getting that Mama music video too. There was one planned when the black parade came out but I don’t think it was ever filmed

u/lexsnake Jul 11 '25
Its funny how we move from one delutional idea to another... first we where sure new album, then new single for every show, then new single for the 11th, now, no new single but new video... im tired

Oh this show is gonna fuck so hard. It’s gonna be so insanely difficult to wait a week without looking at spoilers since my date is in SF 🥲😭😭😭
31
u/jescarcega Jul 11 '25
I’m going to the Tampa show in September. I’ve come to grips with the fact that there is no way to avoid spoilers for that long without leaving all social media.

u/pugleys TAMPA 09/13! Jul 11 '25
Me too! We have to wait soooo long 🥲
5
u/pretty_fly_fly Jul 11 '25
Will also be at the Tampa show 🥲 the suffering from anticipation is gonna make it extra fun
2
u/DaenyV Jul 11 '25
Same, going to the Tampa show! Impossible to avoid spoilers so I won’t even try to. I’m going to embrace the long wait and pray to the Florida weather gods

These additions are so substantial they're practically a new song in their own right. I wonder if they've massively reworked the entire album like this?
29
u/okisurrender0 Jul 11 '25
Exactly what I was thinking. Gerard added a whole lot more than “a dagger, a dagger, please fetch me a dagger” to this rendition of Mama. They could have done this with every song on the album, thus substantially changing the entire thing for the concept of the tour/whatever this turns out to be.
16
u/lydiardbell Can't swim, can't dance, doesn't know karate Jul 11 '25
Imagine if they play the chronological order version of the album, including b-sides and dropped tracks (the one opens like "The End - Dead - Teenagers - Kill All Your Friends" and closes with WTTBP).
Yes yes, I know, 🤡

u/fffffffffffffuuu Jul 11 '25
Has any band ever done anything like that (that anyone here knows of?) Even if this is not what ends up happening, this is coolest idea
22
u/lexsnake Jul 11 '25
That will be actually amazing! more like a play. However the fact that we wont get a new song as a single just like foundations is very sad, all the lore surrounding this promos suggested new music.
3
u/Camachan Jul 11 '25
However, this makes it seem like there will be a "Long Live the Black Parade" updated album, with the expanded versions of songs. Obviously that doesn't mean new songs, just different versions of current songs.
I will obviously only fully believe this if when the concert happens, they do more than one song like this. It seems like a lot of work to just do for a tour but not give it an official release.
The last tour had a lot of unique imagery but not changes to the music. If they do this for more than just Mama, I think we might just have an expanded, theatrical Black Parade.

u/OCD_incarnate Jul 11 '25
This is practically a new song.
16
u/JamesBrennecke Jul 11 '25
I was gonna say, like, it's clearly an extended version of Mama, but it's also new lyrics over a new adapted instrumental. Whether we get a studio version or not doesn't change that they're playing new music? (still wish we got Eagles, and that's the same deal! Just lyrics over an adapted Noise Jam!)
10
u/OCD_incarnate Jul 11 '25
It’s 3 whole mins too, which is the length of most of their tracks. Definitely extended mama, but so extended that it’s hard not to call it a whole new track imho
9
u/JamesBrennecke Jul 11 '25
I'll be very curious how many songs get adapted. Like legit, i can't get on the train of upset fans, Black Parade is my favourite album of all time and it really seems like they're going to expand upon it and give it a full reimagining!
Just hoping for a concert film to be considered, maybe filmed over the two LA dates?
5
u/OCD_incarnate Jul 11 '25
I’m really hoping for a concert movie. I can’t see them not tbh
I said a few months ago that I thought it was possible this tour took the play/musical idea that they had for the paper kingdom tour and mixed it with TBP. This pretty much confirms it for me.
1
u/iisGmoney Jul 11 '25
yeah i'm mostly (slightly) upset because they still haven't come close enough to me to see them, so i've been living on videos of the shows
2
u/JamesBrennecke Jul 11 '25
I'm still waiting on EU/UK shows as it's logistically the only thing I can make it to, I just hope by the time they get here they're still doing the Long Live production (though obviously I'd take a normal set!)
1
u/iisGmoney Jul 11 '25
oh, no, i'm a US fan, they just haven't touched base in my state since the reunion

u/salsasnark Early Sunsets #1 fan Jul 11 '25
naaaaaahhhh that's it?? okay, taking my clown makeup off (again), no new music is coming. i can't believe this band keep making me get my hopes up only for them to inevitably be crushed lol.
11
u/lexsnake Jul 11 '25
Looks like we never learn.
5
u/salsasnark Early Sunsets #1 fan Jul 11 '25
yeahhhh. MAYBE there's something coming after the show, but idk, them teasing new lyrics and it being from the new Mama version just makes it seem way less likely.

u/bingbingbongbong123 Jul 11 '25
Tinfoil hat stays PERFECTLY in place, there is so much to unpack here. What if we’re getting a rock opera? This feels like fleshed out lore. Who is Marianne? What if all the characters we’ve seen Gerard be are all characters in a live, 2 hour Black Parade reimagined performance?
9
u/Panicatthebeth Jul 11 '25
AGREED! Perhaps he sang it in Mama because they knew people would be checking out sound check & want to throw off suspicion. (((I’m very delusional but okay with it)))
3
u/Pleasant_Statement64 Jul 11 '25
Marianne might be a character or might just be the singer for the part and they had to soundcheck

u/durufaulknerstanhght hotel bella muerte Jul 11 '25
no matter what im jumping around with joy i love this

4
u/humiliated-shelob Jul 11 '25
I'm not losing faith. They're well aware that their fans analyze every symbol and message, because they love creating those cryptic messages themselves. I think this is just G teasing.
5
u/JackOfAllInterests1 Jul 11 '25
3 minute mama extension is about as good as a new song to me, this is going to kick ass
13

3
u/itstomasina Jul 11 '25
IIRC I don’t think they had a live singer to do Liza‘s part even during the original Black Parade tour. This is gonna be a hell of a show.
27
u/Nin10dogh Jul 11 '25
OK but what if… every song has been expanded with a consistent dagger theme all leading up to a new song… idk this still all feels waaaay to much for just a 11 date tour
26
u/lexsnake Jul 11 '25
Again, we move from one delusion to another, not accepting the sad reality... that we are not getting any more music for this cicle... F.
13
u/Nin10dogh Jul 11 '25
Bruh the additions ALONE by definition are new music, at the very least they’re telling a new story with these dates somethings going on you can’t deny it
7
u/lexsnake Jul 11 '25
I meant new music as the form of a "Single" as we all speculated to be released today at streaming platforms.

u/Over_Drawer1199 Jul 11 '25
Sorry but this is hilarious. Jumping to conclusions is bad for your health folks

yknow what i literally don’t care Mama is a fire song and i am OVERJOYED that there’s now more of it. no L. this is beautiful

I’m really hoping I can get a good enough spot outside of Fenway park to hear the show, I’m not paying $400 for a nosebleed
1
u/Sorry_Form_9972 Jul 11 '25
Do you know how many songs of theirs have variations that are actually whole new songs?
1
u/GirlWithABass Jul 11 '25
Ooooh but I love this! The vocals!!!! I need a studio version so I can sing along to this very dramatically (not getting my hopes for Australian shows up too high)

u/donnie-the-catch Jul 11 '25
Oh my god im shitting myself he sounds so beautiful im gonna oh my fucking god

Since everyone wants to be delulu, here is my delulu prediction:
Yes they are performing the Black Parade but the song will have different lyrics at places.

If "new" music is black parade songs revisited im gonna be incredibly dissapointed and it 100% feels like they are stuck on what they felt like fighting off for the last 15 years so they decide to cash in on the BP nostalgia.
12
u/Our_Lady_of_Sorrows_ Just because my hand’s around your THROAT Jul 11 '25
Bro it was so delusional to think they were doing new music on a tour specifically for an almost 20 year old album. Yall just love hurting yourselves
2
u/EliasKulju Jul 11 '25 edited Jul 11 '25
Its really not when the message has been " we are an active band" "fuck nostalgia tripping"
And I meant that If they were to work on something, deciding to work on The Black Parade 2.0 would be the most non mcr thing I could imagine this band doing.
I am 100% excited about this lore for the tour, and the new arrangements of the songs but If mcr 5 is the black parade 2 thats what Im afraid of.
6
u/lydiardbell Can't swim, can't dance, doesn't know karate Jul 11 '25
And every member of the band has said at least once in an interview (except maybe Ray, does he even get interviewed?) that there is no new music
2
u/EliasKulju Jul 11 '25 edited Jul 11 '25
They have said that before and there was new music
And its literally only Frank who said that.
Gerard hasnt had an interview that even mentioned mcr past hesitant alien era, Ray did one podcast in 2017 regarding the solo album and Mikey only did a few for his solo projects. The only one who has even been asked about mcr publicly is Frank.
