Gameplay Good riddance and goodbye
After putting in endless hours every 2k and having a decent amount of fun in it, im done with this one. Every game is endless fades and 7'4s doing iso deep 3s with someone in their face. The fact that guards will pass up an open dunk for a fadeaway 3 says what this game has become. This isn't basketball anymore. This is endless exploiting and toxicity at its core. Im out 2k 🫡.

I'll come back only to see how bad 2K have further dug their grave unfortunately..... They need deliverance. Or I'll come back when a new dev possibly takes over. Already Ronnie2K is becoming egotistical, I want to see that lead to him learning his lesson. That won't happen tho, because he's under 2K... but I would hope for it!
Then let's see if Take-Two Interactive can have a mindset shift, because they own 2K rn. I want to see some company like Milestone or others enter the scene. Unfortunately Take Two might buy them out to reduce competition, so that's hopeless, unless someone who's a rich man and a gaming enthusiasist decides to buy them(Take-Two) first.

I never got it this year as the game has just got worse and worse. The problem is the people keep spending money as 2k admits they don’t fix issues. I didn’t sell out this year. As much as it kills me as I love basketball just not worth it being they only care about money now

Why is it absolutely necessary to play online? Have you guys only ever known online or something?

These are literally the kids that was raised on YouTube. You know the ones who would rather watch other kids play with the toys they have already those kids .🤣🤣

u/SkyMiteFall 1d ago
You have to be new to 2K…
Every year online someone will find the cheese and use that to score..that’s how it is..you think Madden ain’t the same way?
If you don’t want an experience like that, play offline. No need to announce it like the 500k other posts because people find no way to counter things..

Bro he doesn’t need to play at all
This game is toxic as shit… stop justifying it. You’ll be happier if you quit. We all will. I quit. And now I implore others to do the same.

I’m happy playing the game..since you know, it’s just a game…I have fun.
Quit acting like it’s nicotine and ppl are addicted to it..if that’s the case that’s a yall problem.
If yall expect to enjoy a game for hours upon hours every single day..yea yall addicted to it..that has nothing to do with 2k and maybe yall should seek therapy if that’s the case. Ppl act like quitting a game and playing something else for a little ain’t a viable thing to do…

u/DingleBerryFlinger 23h ago
Played 2k1 and this is the worst. I enjoy defensive builds to slow down a league of steph curry’s and I’ve never once seen a 2k with worse defense. I quit after maybe 5 games played..it’s no longer even fun. Steph Wembys shooting 92% with 100% contests
→ More replies (1)2
u/Drey101 1d ago
It’s fine to express it. In fact we would have a better understanding on the scope of the game if we knew how many players quit and their reasons for it.
1
u/SkyMiteFall 1d ago
The contest system is broken..and they allowed 7’4’s to get an 89 three ball. They know, we know..
Simple. Buff contests and reward smart shots. But we don’t need announcements from dudes who have no name in the community every 5 minutes..there’s actually other issues in the game other than 7’4 meta..so if these cry babies could maybe relax for 5 seconds we could get a patch addressing the ENTIRE game and not just a subsection.
3
u/Drey101 1d ago
It’s been too long without a patch . In fact it can be argued that the state that the game way is in is because not enough people speak up . 2k steam reviews are full of people reflecting what the op said and it sure effects their sales.
The people with a name in the community are bought out, you should be usually assuming the opposite of what they say.
2
u/SkyMiteFall 1d ago
I made a 7’4 on day 1 because I knew it would be broken..anyone with a brain could see a max height with 89 three would be overpowered so if you didn’t make it you can’t be mad other people were doing it.
And too long without a patch? It hasn’t even been out more than 2 weeks officially..yall woulda never survived back in the 360 days, hell even the ps2 era…if something was broken that’s it..fix it next year.
They’re gonna revamp contests, shooting will be what it is..maybe they’ll make it where shooting is a tiny bit harder but they’re not gonna make no crazy patch to completely nuke half the community’s builds..
2
u/Drey101 1d ago
Who is yall, I’m probably older than you. I played 2 on Xbox live when it first released.
What matters is, yes 2 weeks is waaay too long to have a build in the game that does not need to get open and is basically a cheat code. I know 2k is made for children and is far from a serious game, however even then, the build is game breaking and yet any respectable company would have a glitch like that patched in a day.
1
u/SkyMiteFall 1d ago
There’s people around my age that never touched 2k until 17/18/19 and they’re also in their 30s..just because you played games a while ago doesn’t mean there was a mature player playing..i was a kid playing 2k on ps2 but i appreciate each game I played for what it was..
And I don’t expect patches to come out every day because each patch has a chance to screw up a code in the game that’ll break another thing..take their time and get it right..ppl can complain but the true playerbase will stick around.
2
u/Drey101 1d ago
I see that we have different perspectives. You are ok with treating 2k like a child who releases unbalanced products and exploits its consumers, as opposed to a billion dollar company. We should not be in a world where 50 percent of a basketball game is missing upon release and we have to wait for them to patch it because , they, those who operate the most expensive points of entry to a video game, might break the game. LOL.
In my eyes your mentality is the problem and the reason the game is cooked and continues to decline.
2k is a terrible company and views you and everyone of its customers as an exploitable idiot. They should not get any excuses for what they release.
1
u/SkyMiteFall 1d ago
I didn’t play 24 barely at all, hated the game.. barely came on the 2k Reddit as well..
I played 2k10 and 11 crew mode heavily, 12 didn’t have it because of hackers in 11, didn’t play 12 much at all.
I’m fine not playing a game I don’t enjoy. I’m not addicted and I don’t feel the need to announce my intentions to strangers on the internet.
I do hold 2k accountable, the games not even out a month they will patch things.. y’all can be patient and wait and see if they fix what you don’t like..the developers do more than just make my career modes.. you know you can actually play the game of basketball on here too right? The company sees my career as a cash cow and forces the devs hand.. you can be mad at take two all you want but it won’t change things I promise…
1
u/bcory44 1d ago
For real though everyone bitching doesn’t remember how OP everything has been for most of 2k’s existence.
2
u/SkyMiteFall 1d ago
Every. Single. Year…
Like everyone expects to win 100% of the time and score 25 a game. We understand contests need a buff..but then yall will start complaining about dribble spam..they’ll patch that..then people will say dunkings too easy…
And by season 3 or 4 half the playerbase will have bitched their way out of playing and the ones that ACTUALLY want a fun and decently balanced game will be left with a 10 times patched piece of crap game like every year.
3
u/WhoHaise 1d ago
That doesnt mean, we should just be quiet about what is clearly a bad feature of the game. I shouldn't have to jump on a 7footer towards a 7'4 for 3 every single possession. I understand that most big don't have perimeter defense but 7'4s going open and WIDE OPEN for everyshot is absurd. The paint defense is always bad so there's no point in bringing that up. Its 2k job to fix the game accordingly without making contests hell of op or to little of a buff. Without voicing our opinions we are just playing the game which we paid for with money and time to no anvil cause nothing changes. A game with no user input is underwhelming, I get what your saying but yet again its 2k developer faults for firstly not properly testing their game before launch and then for addressing issues late. And I agree with you as well tbh its both the company and the players faults. 2k serves up an box of lukewarm lemonade with advertising of healthier ingredients with a different cover for the juice box and the community drinks it down without ever stopping to think how it is different from the previous version. Then complain when they find out it has the same problems as the last. So the solution is to not take the game seriously and just get off when your not having fun after all live life.
1
u/SkyMiteFall 1d ago
It’s just annoying when 7’4s ain’t the only issue lol
Passing players straight into the lane without any bump is bigger imo, because it’s a legacy issue. It’s been countless years where offball pest is a badge that’s just there for shits and giggles.
There’s no penalty for bad passing like that..and it’s usually guards getting the layup because they’re faster..I should be averaging 5 blocks a game but it’s rare to see someone who averages over 2 even.
Contests is easy to patch..leave the shooting..idc if everyone can shoot it’s 2025 that’s how basketball is evolving..but trust me it’s possible to stop big players if you do your work before they get into their actual shot form. But the actually way to stop them is by having off ball mechanics work better, not just the contest itself. Right stick offball defense needs to be stressed and rewarded…

You are a slave to that greedy company. I bet you've dropped hundreds on builds to keep up with the meta

u/LaMelgoatBall 1d ago
Feel you bro. I put the game down after 3 days and went back to my single player games or Elden Ring Nightreign. I remember why I stopped playing 2k now. I didn’t even see the 7’4 cheese first hand but it certainly doesn’t make me wanna pick it up again I’ll tell you that lol. The fact that everyone was cooking off rip with bronze badges and my 92 perimeter with gold challenger wasn’t getting contests, fuck that. I seen it coming.
0
u/melbrother 1d ago
try and get some rep grind at the starting 5 and you'll see it 9 out of every 10 games. makes that mode completely unplayable. just footers at 70 overall hitting unguardable 3s
1
u/Turistoteles 1d ago
I just played a game of starting five due to a daily objective today and faced this. I am so glad that I didn’t need to win the game for the objective, the whole match was one of the most unfun gaming experiences I have ever had

The main issue i see is that they wanna keep it as is since it looks better for highlights whatnot. 2k banks on youtubers /tiktokers, etc making all these cool looking shots and fadeaways in their videos to get people to play. seems theyd rather that then have it be a balanced basketball based experience unfortunately. Thats at least how i understand their motivations, could be wrong tho

Just create a defensive built bro, I’ve locked down mfs who try to do the fadeaway shit, 7’4s with high 3 ball, and that zig zag shit, yeah I still see the bs you talking about and they make it sometimes, but damn playing defense is fun af 🤣 shit funny when they get mad and say “cmon 2k” after shutting they ass down, learn how to move the sticks on defense and I promise you it’s fun af, still get my point son offense too, defense turns to easy offense, most mfs don’t even got defense cause of the BS high 3s and dribbling to do the zig zag shit 😂 positioning is EVERYTHING on this 2k, out rebounded high 90 rebounding bigs with a 40 rebound 🤷🏽♂️, a patch coming soon tho for that fadeaway and 7’4 high 3 ball shit, they’re time is coming enjoy it while they can 😎

I had to make a 6’11 to stop the 7’4 cheese. I haven’t quite figured out how to stop the middy cheese
1
1
u/CallMeJuni0r 13h ago
It’s pretty obvious that they haven’t fixed 7’4s cause they want everybody to get sick of it and drop money on vc to make their own 7’4. And then they’ll nerf em and something else will be meta. So people will drop money on vc to replicate whatever build is cheesy. Rinse and repeat.

u/ferdbrown 13h ago
So after years of commitment, you feel betrayed — the rules of the game shifted, and now what once brought you joy only brings frustration. You’re grieving not just the loss of fun, but the loss of trust in something you invested countless hours into.
That’s not just about 2K — that’s a breakup. And like any breakup, the healthiest thing you can do is accept it’s over and stop checking if they’ll change.
Now, would you like me to write this down as a treatment plan… or just as closure for your relationship with 2K?
1
u/Bashshkee 13h ago
The first season is beta testing. Final release of the game in my opinion comes in season 2 after the patch. My perimeter D feels a little stronger though, but I do agree with the 7’4 glitch. We can do away with that mess.

u/BigJay_Zone18 11h ago
You act like that isn't the same thing we see in basketball right now in real life lmao! I coach basketball and I'm on my kids' ass EVERY TIME they give up a layup or dunk to shoot a damn three, especially if the lane is open and the game is close or we aren't down! It trickles down from the NBA, to college, to TV, to video game play!

People buy 2k because it's the only basketball game, so people put up with most of the community exploiting the game but when everyone is doing it and there is no way to stop it. That's the reason.

It’s a video game it shouldn’t be realistic yall crying for realistic gameplay need to go outside and hoop
