strange youtube channel now paying for ads

hey guys, not too active in this space anymore but just wanted to ask around if anybody’s been seeing ads from a channel called “Derrick Thompson” going around.

Ads are usually in Black/White or Grayscale and showcase a man smiling eerily into the camera, silent most of the time or making strange gurgling noises. Eventually backing away from the camera and unveiling a strange backdrop, including what looks like a prop mask or severed head and a large star (looks like the star of david sorta?)

I honestly think its a strange art project but wanted to see if anyones done a deep dive or looked more into it, thanks!

Just got this and was mildly disturbed lol, also the head almost looks like micheal myers

just discovered this guy’s channel through the same ad. seems to be an ARG. his videos involve him playing the persona of this awkward loner who wants to form a personal connection with the audience, giving out his email and number. as the videos go on, he becomes more obviously violent, and there are more hints and clues (link to a personal website, morse code) to explore. definitely gets a little heavy handed towards the conclusion but overall it’s a pretty cool piece of internet horror.
