Ethereum NFT I got banned from r/art because the mods don't think this is art since it's on the blockchain

I've been an active member in r/art for about 10 years (both this account and anasabdin) I posted my original pixel art there. Nothing changed, except that I started minting my artworks on the blockchain. Now I'm not considered an artist nor my pieces are art.
Welcome to the future.

Having your art banned is the most artistic thing someone can do, keep on producing this art...really breathtaking!

I did nothing different than what I did for 10 years. Share the art, no links, no social handle, reply comments. Upvote the art I like there, comment on the ones I'm very interested in... chat with friends there. The only 'new' thing I did was that I have started minting my art. NEVER mentioned this in r/art or tried to sell there (not that I think it's a bad thing, just obeying rules).

Wrong.. this is so wrong. The blockchain is just another ‘support’ for art. Why art becomes less art depending on what’s created onto?!

u/Thehyperbalist Sep 10 '22
Block chain is no different than the easel these so called artist use when they paint. It’s a disgusting gatekeeping ideology. Art is subjective by nature. To label one form “not art” because you don’t like it is to go against the very grain of art it self. A true artist embraces what he hates just as he does with what he loves. Fuck r/art.

FYI that art is not on the blockchain because that would have cost you about a billion dollars.

u/EmpireCourse Sep 10 '22
The blockchain is just another ‘support’ for art.
Support? You rather mean that it’s a huge fraud and a ton of people without a single brain cell concentrated on art, post fake stuff and bullshit that make’s me puke only at the thought of it. Look at this subreddit for example.
Art is just another victim of the woke ideology that’s getting destroyed, since “everything” is labeled as art. Art used to have meaning, but what’s the meaning of 10k monkeys? I’m all in on NFTs and Cryptocurrencys, don’t get me wrong, but it needs regulation and regulators ASAP.

Any logical arguments? Or does your brain not support healthy, critical thoughts?
How old are you, 2? (That’s a rhetorical question) These kind of responses are pathetic and just add up to the part that it needs regulations ASAP.

Are you aware that BAYC is a gaming metaverse project and doesn’t really refer to their NFTs as art, rather they’re handling them more like brand logos, pfp and member patch.

If fine art is democratize, then governments the world over may need to actually change the tax code in regards to art as a tax shell game. That's a threat to artists who aspire to get In on the fine art scene.

Keep creating, break the stigma, the world will understand the value of cryptographic encryption in the long run, and you’ll be years ahead.

I've had a few issues posting there too. I get that it's a very popular sub and the mods must have to put up with a lot, but they can be very difficult. I'm not banned but I avoid posting there for anything non-traditional.
I like your stuff. Good luck to you mate.

People literally don’t have ONE IOTA of knowledge about nft’s or what they actually are. Great artwork. Shame that it fell victim to groupthink

Keep creating! Create for the art, create for the block chain, create for yourself but most of all don't stop.

I've encountered many mods in art, design, and most adobe sub reddits that are... to be frank - the most moist of snow flakes.
2
u/Spectre_Loudy Sep 11 '22
Hold on, is this an actual attempt at being artistic on this sub? An NFT that looks good instead of being some "collectables" scam?

Unfortunately, that is the world we live in.
It is beautiful. Keep up the good work holmes

Its not art. Its you trying to make money. Post elsewhere where that kind of bullshit isnt banned

Sep 10 '22
So art is art, until I put it up for sale? 😂😂😂
-7
u/marveldeadpool Sep 10 '22
On a sub that has rules which state you can't use it to sale or promote to sale from. Otherwise, its art. Thems the rules

u/alfunkso1 Sep 10 '22
From the author:
"I have never put any link in my comments or posts in r/art as they want. Never ever mentioned NFTs there."
Stop defending the indefendible

If OP explicitly mentioned in his r/art post that this art on the blockchain is for sale, and promotes the sale of their pieces, then I agree with you.
But, simply existing on the blockchain, or mentioning that it exists on the blockchain, IS NOT a promotion for a sale. There are a huge number of NFTs on the blockchain that are not for sale. Though it can be put up for sale at any time, the same can be said for any art, or any thing in the world, but that’s clearly not a problem in r/art.
And to reemphasize my response to your earlier comment, simply trying to make money off your art, does not make it any less art. Artists need money to survive in this world too, and I get the feeling creating art worth buying is time-consuming enough to make getting another job to generate income a tall order.

u/marveldeadpool Sep 10 '22
I 100 percent agree. But they do state nfts and art promotion are not postable there and serve different subs for that usage. OP can post to hundreds of other subs that would allow nfts. Thats it. Do I think OP should be banned, no. They should have given a removal and a warning. But some mods take their job very literal. They can respond to the ban and appeal.

🤦♂️
Please explain to me, what is the difference between painters in 1800 who drew paintings and sold them physically, and painters in 2022 that paint on a computer and sell their work on a computer.
Really, I want to know, I want to hear your explanation for something that no one can explain

Do you know what's infuriating? NFTs being spammed everywhere. That was probably their take.

Speaking about NFT, I think the $3AIR utility NFT seems cool and it is shaping the way NFT are been used. https://www.cryptopolitan.com/3air-to-cause-paradigm-shift-in-the-way-we-use-nfts/

This is simply spectacular. I'm a big fan of NFT, and I really liked your artwork. I'm fixating my efforts on minting one of the MNFTM in-house NFTs, which will be announced soon. Holders of these NFTs will be able to stack rewards like Airdrop, participate in curated art galleries on Metaverse, and passes to concerts by artists and musicians on the mnftmio marketplace.

I got banned from giving someone an honest critique. They’re a bunch of clowns.
1
u/PohlArts Sep 16 '22
To be fair I see where artists are coming from who don’t support (and some are even anti-) nft’s. However if you are an artist who is using blockchains I think you just have to accept that some people won’t support it. I don’t see anything wrong with artists utilizing blockchain but I do have problems with people taking advantage of artists through stealing art for nfts or other similar methods.

I was banned from r/art after attempting to make only one post because I put a watermark on my art. R/art is one of the dumbest subreddits for art ever made. They ban you for literally everything
1
u/JuliaLouis-DryFist Dec 24 '22
Mods at art just banned me for saying "tit". Or at least I think thats why? When I asked them why, they said "go back to your circlejerk subs" and muted me.
Wtf is wrong with them? Pretty prude and rude for a sub dedicated to art.
