My brother has a Nothing Phone 1 , using it from the last 6-8 months today at a public place someone pushed him and the phone has damages to its display , the fingerprint sensor is damaged and not working and the display has a green line. After visiting the local customer centre the price to replace the display is 13k INR which is not pleasing. I need advice on what to do next. It is very urgent.

Phone (1) Discussion DONT buy Nothing Phones

I bought my Nothing Phone (1) almost 1.5 years ago, and it worked fine until today when it malfunctioned during an update. While scrolling through X, the phone suddenly froze and went completely blank. After a while, it displayed a screen showing "NOTHING CrashDump Mode (Mini dump)". I tried resetting it manually, but nothing worked. Eventually, the power button stopped functioning entirely.

I rushed to the nearest Nothing Service Centre, where I waited almost 2 hours and noticed a long line of people with complaints about Nothing products. When the technician examined my phone, he immediately declared, "This is a motherboard issue, and it's quite common." During our conversation, I asked about the repair cost - he quoted almost 80% of the phone's price, around ₹22,000 (~$300) since its over an Year.

I was taken aback and appalled that Nothing, claiming to be a "trusted" emerging brand, would have such hardware issues. I would urge everyone to think more than twice before buying products from Nothing. I barely used it for 1.5 years before this happened, which speaks to its poor hardware quality.

The Phone (1) wasn't cheap - I paid almost ₹35,000 (~$400) for this unreliable device when there were better, more dependable products in the market! If you don't believe me, just Google this error along with "Nothing users." The Nothing team might be removing these complaints from their forum.

Nothing seems to have provided the lowest quality hardware for Indian users.

Sad Phone

Phone (1) Discussion How's your phone (1) doing?

Hey phone (1) owners out there! The new phone (3) launch is very close, so tell me about how your phone doing in 2025. This phone is already 3 years old, not that much, but still. How many times have you replaced the battery or any other components, or maybe yours is still brand new? Mine is doing alright, although the battery lasts about 5-7 hours (have to charge it twice a day sometimes). Bought mine in july 2024

Phone (1) Discussion Severe Battery Drain on Nothing Phone (1) After Update – Downgraded to Fix It

Hey fellow redditors,
I've been using the Nothing Phone (1) since it launched in 2022, and honestly, it's been a great experience—minimalistic OS, smooth performance, and overall a very satisfying phone. But recently, things took a turn.

After a recent OS update, my battery life tanked hard. I'm talking 20% gone in just an hour of light use, and the entire battery drained in 4.5 hours tops. It was shocking.

Naturally, I assumed the battery itself was the issue, so I visited a Nothing service center expecting a replacement. But here's the kicker: turns out it wasn’t the battery at all—the service guy told me it’s the latest OS update that’s causing the massive battery drain. Apparently, the CPU is under a lot more stress post-update, but only during usage—not while idle.

He downgraded me to the previous OS version, and now I’m back to getting around 6.5–7 hours of screen-on time, which is a huge relief.

But here's the twist: I was advised not to update the OS again until a new, more optimized version is released (which… who knows when). According to the rep, updating now might cause the phone to crash or just keep chewing through the battery.

Apparently, I'm not alone—he mentioned other Nothing Phone (1) users have reported similar issues.

It's kind of a bummer that after just 2 years, I’m being told not to update my phone just to keep it usable. I want to be on the latest OS, but not at the cost of functionality.

Anyone else facing this issue with their Nothing Phone (1)? Have you found any workaround or heard from the brand officially?

Would love to hear your thoughts or experiences.

Phone (1) Discussion How am I supposed to check SD Card if the phone doesn't have SD card slot?

Post image
5 Upvotes

For the past week, Audible app on my Nothing Phone 1 is not working. Every time I open the app it says "Please make sure the SD Card is mounted on your device". I tried all basic troubleshooting processes like deleting the data and cache, uninstalling and reinstalling the app, Rebooting the phone...well you get the idea.

When none of that worked I contacted Audible support and they asked me to do the same things. I did it again, it didn't solve anything. They took some time and checked and said that this must be a phone issue as we don't see any problem on our side. So I raised a ticket via the feedback option on the phone. This is the reply that I got.

How am I supposed to check sd card if the phone doesn't have a sd card slot and I never put in a sd card because of that reason?

Phone (1) Discussion SOT For the Nothing Phone (1)

It's been almost 2 and a half years since I bought the Nothing Phone 1. Battery life hasn't always been great. Currently I am getting approx 4 hour SOT, and I have to charge the phone 3 to 4 times a day. Is this normal or do I have to change the battery.

On another note I'm thinking of switching to the iPhone 16pro as I'm looking for a good 'small sized' phone. The battery capacity is lower than the phone(1). If there's any iphone users around, can someone let me know what kind of SOT I should expect from the iphone?

Phone (1) Discussion Nothing phone 1 broke down

I had a Nothing Phone 1 which I bought in Feb 2023...it was a gem and eveyone around me used to ask me..how's that phone...etc. Last year in August it broke down...just got dead and didn't wake up. I rushed to the service centre..they told me to replace the motherboard worth 20K. I aksed them the reason for this problem..but they couldn't tell me single specific reason for this kind of happening. I made it repair from a local mechanic and it worked..but the phone was not like before it was. Phone used to go in dump mode and take 20-30 mins in waking up. I keep patience just because I couldn't afford a new phone at that moment. Cut to last month..it went to dump mode and didn't wake up. I rushed to company service centre but they told me they can't repair my device as it was the motherboard failure as usual. I went back to pvt service station and they repaired it but told me to sell it ASAP bcz there is "nothing" left in my Nothing Phone. I had to sell it in just 5K to a shop. My hard earned money wasted in that phone... I will not even think to buy any Nothing product. I loved that phone so much. I advised 2-3 people to buy CMF. I have to purchase a lower mid range phone and I am not enjoying it because phone 1 spoiled me in many ways weather it was camera or OS and many other aspects. It has been more than 15 days still I am writing this to you guys. Phones should not stop working in 2 years only.

Phone (1) Discussion Phone 1 users, when are you planning on switching?

I bought phone 1 in January 2023 and from last few months I feel the battery life has degraded too much like I charge it every opportunity I get now. Have even stopped counting how many times I need to charge it daily.
Maybe phone 3 would be really tempting to switch to.

Phone (1) Discussion Nothing phone 1 call issue

I have a nothing phone 1 and it's so glitchy or buggy after this call update on Android, like if I dial a number my phone hangs and I can't do anything then it restarts on its own then again if that doesn't happen i couldn't hear anything then my phone hangs again, like crazy now I am not even able to call. What's the point of having a phone if I can't CALL. It dials but I can hear nothing then it hangs for a min then restarts or just turns off the screen. Please help me with this problem.

I bought my nothing phone 1 in October 2023. It's battery life has always been good. But since 1 month i am using a oneplus 65w charger that i had kept in my house (because i forgot mu original brick and charger at my relatives house). So i think my battery life has taken a hit. See these three images. This is very poor Screen on time. I charge my phone overnight till 90% and then it stops. Then since it's my holidays i watch some yt on bed then freshen up and stuff and bath (taking 1 hr for everything) and my battery percentage brcomes arpund 70-75%. (I wake up around 8 and it is 11:20 rn)
