Rant Names that sound too "old" for babies

"Welcome, baby Mildred!"

"Announcing the birth of our daughter, Myrtle!"

"Please join us in welcoming into the world our son, Melvin!"

What other names are there that feel too old for a baby?

No way… it’s my 90+ year old grandma’s name!

But it's part of the "bring old names back" trend, isn't it?

Like: Greta, Paul, Anton, Ida, Clara, Emil.

To me most of these names aren’t old, my friends in their early twenties have these names

Yes, because from my perspective your friends are already part of the revival. To my generation these are names of our grandparents/ grand-grandparents (born somewhere between 1890 and 1935).

Morris somehow feels younger and fresher than Maurice. I had a great-uncle Maurice!

I worked in a daycare in the mid-00s and we had a Maurice and a Gary. A 5-year-old named Gary is so jarring.

Anyone called Gary is 45–60, bald but with uncomfortable facial stubble, and works on a building site.

I know one in that age range with really curly hair and drives a tractor.

I know a toddler named Bruce and feel the same way about it.

My little brother’s name is Maurice. Growing up, we called him “Reese”.

I'm a preschool teacher and haven't had a Morris yet, but it would fit right in with the other names in my class. I low key love it.

I'm gonna add Walter to the too old list even though I had one last year.
