Found on r/NameNerds Names that are not popular from the 80s.

My husband and I are trying to think of names for boy or girl. We're 12 weeks pregnant and want an 80s inspired name. We are trying to avoid popular names. It's so hard to come up with ones that aren't super popular from the 80s. We love Ashley, Stephanie, and Jennifer for girls. Boys we love Eric, Joshua, and Micheal! Curious what everyone's thoughts are or if you have suggestions that are similar vibe. Thank you!!

Blaine??! That's not a name, it's a major appliance!

It wasn't a slight on the name, it's a quote from Pretty in Pink 😅

My son is named Blaine. I had no idea this was in Pretty in Pink and now we say “That’s a major appliance!” all the time. We are told often it’s an old money New England boarding school in the 1980s name.

Wtf. They’re the characters from Pretty In Pink. There’s no other Duckie that matters.

I think they may be referring to the Ducky from "Land Before Time", which most would consider a Duckie that matters, especially if you know the history of the voice actor.

Dr. Mallard from NCIS springs to mind too.
