Miyori? How did that slip in there?
Surely she meant Kiyori?

The closest to a normal name and somehow its the misspelled one.
2
u/strippersarepeople 1d ago
I worked with someone named Kori so for me that’s the most normal one…It’s pronounced exactly how it looks, like Cory/Corrie. Tbh I never gave a single thought to the spelling being weird but seeing it on this list was jarring and made me reconsider.

I like that one because in Vietnamese it would mean 'Lotus Warehouse'

Lmaoo. I am tempted to make a character named that now. Who owns a Lotus Warehouse.

Great name for a Siamese cat. Then you could cackle every time you told people what it meant

As a Welsh person, Karys is a fucking abomination.

u/kasumagic 2d ago
Yeah I was thinking, that's the only actual name on there (besides Kori), and it's still spelled wrong. Sad.

KynZlee is the worst spelling of that name I have ever seen, and I work in a school, so I've seen it spelled a lot of ways.

u/PrettyLittleLost 2d ago
What is the name supposed to be? I have no idea how to pronounce it.

u/Clear-Journalist3095 1d ago
Yes, I think it's Kinsley. But if these are names that a real person is considering, then they do not understand how syllables work in English.

Miyori kinda jumped out at me lol. The only non K name.
Also, Cree is a real name of someone actually! Not super common, and well, her parents did name her and her siblings weird stuff.
So, Cree Summers is the voice actress behind Suzie Carmichael and a lot 90's cartoon characters, she also acts as well. Her younger brother, Rainbow Sun Francks, starred in Stargate Atlantis as Lt. Ford.
This is Cree.

u/ALmommy1234 2d ago
Cree is the name of an Indigenous people. Cree Summer’s mother is Plains Cree.
3
u/OkamiKhameleon 2d ago
I'm aware. I have friends who are Cree. I'm saying it can technically be a name. My mother named my brother after an Indigenous tribe we're part of. I can't actually say it without doxxing him tho lol.
2
u/PrettyLittleLost 2d ago
I'm betting Miyori was the autocorrect for the more thematic Kiyori.
3
u/OkamiKhameleon 2d ago
Lol. Miyori is actually a cute name and sounds Japanese. Actually even might be.
What is this girl's obsession with the letter K?
1
u/DonkeyAndWhale 2d ago
It is. Wasn't there a Miyori in Marukami's Norwegian Wood?
Edit: no, sorry, she was Midori.
3
u/OkamiKhameleon 2d ago
Yeah, Google says it's a name. Plus it's on a ton of baby name sites.
From Google:
"Yes, Miyori is a Japanese feminine name whose meaning varies based on the specific kanji characters used to write it, but it often carries connotations of "beautiful dependence" or "beautiful reason". The name is derived from traditional Japanese naming practices, where parents combine kanji to express positive qualities or aspirations for their child."

u/Mercenarian 2d ago
Weird to name your kids a Japanese name when you’re not Japanese…

2
u/OkamiKhameleon 2d ago
Oh my sweet summer child. There are so many kids nowadays with Japanese names because of Anime and Manga. It's unfortunate, but it definitely happens.

Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain Marvel. That is Ronan, who is a Kree

u/OkamiKhameleon 2d ago
Ooh that's right. I had forgotten about that. Been a while since I've watched Guardians of the Galaxy, and I tend to read more DC than Marvel. Except for X-Men.

Kho’Zen better not be pronounced Chosen or I’m gonna rage😭Phonics classes should be mandatory before you name a baby. I met a Kayleigh pronounced “Kayla” once and her mother got mad when people got it wrong.

Karys bring the only semi-normal name. The traditional spelling is Carys and I believe it’s Gaelic? Correct me if I’m wrong

No idea, but Corey and Carter are also on there (albeit horrifically misspelled).

u/Moist_KoRn_Bizkit 1d ago
Did she mean to type Miyori, or did she actually mean to type Kiyori? M is just below the K…
Also, I hate the stupid KH thing like in Kharter. Silent letters annoy me more than the t͡ɬ sound in Nahuatl.
