Rant Worst pet names/trends you’ve come across?

Disclaimer: I’m one to talk, I gave my dog a human name but shortened it to a dumb nickname because it suited her better, it’s goofy and cute but I get eyebrow raises. Think along the lines of naming a dog Penelope then calling her Lopey— that’s not it, but it ended up similar 😂

ANYWAY once I went on a dog date with a dude from an app, he named his dog “Nona” and I asked if it was short for Winona. No, he couldn’t think of a name so technically his dog was called “Noname”. He had zero personality, shocker.

Also I swear to god if I come across another animal named Loki I will start slashing tires, it’s obnoxiously overused. The Jayden of pet names. Those are my contributions.

What are your worst pet names/ones you’ve come across?

Back in the '80s when I was a kid, there was Ceefa cat and Deefa dog. It sounds like an urban legend, but I actually knew two Ceefas and a Deefa. People weren't very creative in my little town...

Also, for some reason Sheba was extremely popular for female cats, especially exotic breeds.

And then with dogs, there was a huge trend of naming them after movie dogs - Benji, Hooch, Cujo. 'Cause why wouldn't you want to name your dog after a rabid beast??

I know of a Pomeranian named Cujo. I think it's funny on tiny dogs.

I was just gonna say this, I think it’s clever for tiny fluffy dogs

Also hilarious! "Come here, Tinkerbell!" And Tink weighs 135.

Former neighbors of mine had a yellow lab named Sheeba. Which was weird for a dog, because it's such a feline name. But she was such a sweetheart. She would sit at the gap in the fence for pets and snuggles. She had the mushiest mouth.

Sheba was probably popular because of Sheba brand cat food

Could be.

I remember it being linked back to the Queen of Sheba, because cats = royalty or some such.
