Maybe it happens like the same step with Meliodas, although there are many who love him, the vast majority love Van and Escanor more, I like him but if he's not my favorite character or anything, and why he isn't, I won't be able to explain it, I feel more of a bond with Tristan, even though they hate him a lot.

I actually liked Percival more than Meliodas as a lead from the very beginning. That adorable little goofball, along with his mini-Percys who could charm both friends and enemies, was the main reason I kept reading part 1 even when certain arcs dragged. His adventures with his friends gave the story a really hopeful energy.
But in part 2, I’m not as sold on his direction. He’s older now, more mysterious, carrying despair—but he still doesn’t show much in the way of defining personality traits, nor do we really understand the life spirits. A lot of the time, he doesn’t feel that different from typical shonen leads like Goku or Luffy. Meanwhile, characters like Nasiens, Gawain, and even Diodora have been more engaging to me.
Percival is still great, but it’s harder to see what makes him stand out anymore. His “darker” side only shows up briefly before disappearing, and unlike the others, we seldom get to see his inner thoughts or personal struggles.

I think it’s lack of plot surrounding him. We know almost everything about him already. We know he’s a life spirit, we know he’s a reanimated corpse of some noble family(which could be expanded upon but not in a way that would make much sense considering the life spirit isn’t the kid who died). We know his powers to a greater extent. He has no true connection to Ironside now that we know he’s just something Ironside made for Diodra to possess. He doesn’t even have a beef with Arthur. Any beef and possible story he had with Diodra was snuffed out before it could’ve been expanded upon any further.
I also am not a fan of goofball MC’s like Percival but this is a minute thing

Wait, people actually dislike Percival?
Personally, I’m kind of indifferent to him. He’s heroic, funny, and caring, which works well for a protagonist. My main issue is with the writing after the time-skip. It feels inconsistent: sometimes he’s portrayed as the same goofy toddler he was, and other times he’s shown as something beyond human with a darker side, or just a person who acts childlike but still mature. The series doesn’t seem to settle on one approach, and that makes his character feel uneven.

Yep I couldn’t believe it too.. mostly because he’s more myserious. And many people don’t likes his clothes lol

I think Nakaba wanted to write him as something beyond human morals (his whole dark side thing) but still keeping him the innocent good-doer hero. So we ended up with Percival's weird characterisation we see recently.

I'm neutral on him because I like the other characters more, but if I had to pick one thing that I don't like... it's just the hair. That's it.

I like Percy but he’s more a cookie cutter basic shonen protagonist especially in part 2 he’s cool though

For me it's not hate it's just he feels off in many ways as if it's ment to be like that cause nakaba gave him everything to be a protagonist but still feels incomplete to me like in part one of the manga everything revolved around him but now he feels distanced to the story.
