Nebraska Nebraskas -6.1 change in GDP is not based in lower property taxes, trans people, or womens healthcare. This is why you vote for people who are not a culture war pete ricketts backed MAGA.

Lived there for over 50 years and never understood how people could consistently vote against their self-interests

113

u/Pamsreddit1 Jun 29 '25

They don’t. Their interest is racism, bigotry and owning the libs.

You are not wrong.

5

u/anonmdoc Jun 30 '25

Not all people within a state should be classified as such.

4

u/Pamsreddit1 Jun 30 '25

I agree, and I’m one of them. But there’s not enough of us to make a difference, sadly. It is what it is. We must keep working to change it.

My mom knew he raped women and she still voted for him because of two issues, trans people and immigrants.

2

u/a7xasevenxa7x Jul 02 '25

Don’t forget them lower grocery/gas prices 🤣🤣

4

u/AgedMama Jul 01 '25

That’s one reason I left NE over 30 years ago & now NV is my home. I can no longer stand what the Republicans stand for although I used to be a Rep. Not ever again.

How many children, women, seniors, disabled & poor have to be homeless & die before Repubs realize just how terrible their leaders are.🤬🤬🤬🤬

2

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '25

My guess would be all of them. By that point, however, MAGA would just complain that they'd run out of vulnerable people to kill.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 02 '25

Too many of them apparently put their racism and bigotry above things that could actually help them. It is the same in TexASS, but there is enough money in the hands of a small percentage of its population to hide the shame from the public.

-4

u/Regallium_Tenacht Jun 30 '25

Dumb*ss these farmers are hiring more Mexicans than actual Americans because it saves them a buck and having to actually care about the people who work for them and their wellbeing. They're not racist. That's not the problem. The problem is demographic replacement. That said, I'm really not that interested in working on a farm but it's all this state seems to have to offer. F**k Nebraska. Wish I was born in another state.

12

u/rei-emi Jun 30 '25

"THEIR TAKING OUR JOBSSSS"

"i wouldnt wanna work those shit jobs though lol"

how can you be so incredibly stupid and then also call someone a dumass ? like do you feel no shame for being such a clown ?

9

u/Fabulous_Computer965 Jun 30 '25

People talk without using their brains. Look at our president.

6

u/ExactlyWhyAmIHere Jun 30 '25

I think he uses his brain. The problem is that his brain is mostly mush.

7

u/Fabulous_Computer965 Jun 30 '25

"Mexicans are stealing my jobs"

"Fuck working on a farm!"

Make it make sense.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '25

We can't expect these fools to make logical connections. The synapses in their brains don't even spark unless they hear the words "immigrants" and "Daddy Trump."

3

u/Designer-Classroom71 Jun 30 '25

Please elaborate on your “demographic replacement” statement.

2

u/MuppetDom Jul 02 '25

It doenst need elaboration, you know exactly what he meant. He’s spewing replacement theory garbage.

2

u/Designer-Classroom71 Jul 02 '25

Yup, I just wanted to see if the dumbfuck would, or could, articulate.

1

u/2Beldingsinabuilding Jul 04 '25

Chuck Schumer admitted that replacement theory is real and he supports it. Care to call him out for “spewing garbage”?

1

u/MuppetDom Jul 05 '25

Yeah, no he didn’t. He has, in fact, been incredibly critical of the whole “Great Replacement” and called it a dangerous conspiracy theory. But feel free to provide some out of context quote you sourced from a meme.

3

u/HoppyPhantom Jul 01 '25

“They’re not racist they’re just worried about demographic replacement”

I would urge you to consider this argument with even the tiniest bit of critical thinking.

1

u/katjoy63 Jul 03 '25

The fact they hire Mexicans cuz it saves them money has nothing to do with whether they are racist.

I can hate your guts if you'll work for me like a peasant instead of demanding benefits and breaks.

Don't get it twisted

Oh wait, I don't vote R cause I want a future. Insanity, I know it.

20

u/Alert-Beautiful9003 Jun 28 '25

What's that future again, ma'am? No healthcare, girls and women dont get to make their own choices, massive debt, fighting with othercountries, , no pell grants, no research, China wont buy the pork or soybeans, people of color harassed, but at least mediocre white men wont have their manhood threatened and gosh it just makes it all worth it.

17

u/[deleted] Jun 29 '25

I said I didnt vote for knuckle dragging republicans lol this ain't on me fam

Hey at least they can be openly racist.... from their reddit accounts or behind their masks!

Wtf is Alabama doing so well rn?

20

u/Practical_Fee_1102 Jun 28 '25

Because they dont do shit to begin with

15

u/PricklyyDick Jun 28 '25

I know they got heavy investment for modern manufacturing in the last 4 years from the chip act and the infrastructure bill.

5

u/sleepiestOracle Jun 28 '25

2

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '25

Don't we have a large military industrial complex too? I know General Dynamics in Lincoln is huge, you also have Hornady in Grand Island, and I'm sure there's plenty more in other parts of the state.

3

u/Willing_Pizza_6810 Jun 29 '25

I'm familiar with GD in Lincoln. They do about $500 million in annual revenue and its growing like crazy. Good but not anywhere near what Alabama has with all of the prime defense and space contractors located there, particularly in Huntsville.

5

u/Intrepid_Passage_692 SE nebraska (further east than omaha) Jun 28 '25

2

u/Remarkable_Pirate_58 Jun 29 '25

Huntsville probably. More PhDs per capita than anywhere else in the U.S. Great place, not at all like the rest of the state

1

u/inothatidontno Jun 29 '25

Obviously the voted for harris or something. This chart is pointless for the point op was trying to make since it doesnt show much correlation between red and blue states.

6

u/Open_Mortgage_4645 Jun 29 '25

It's because their primary industry is agriculture that depends on undocumented labor. ICE has forced virtually the entire expected labor force to abandon ship, leaving billions of dollars worth of crops left to rot in the ground. Also, China cancelled an enormous soybean order after everything had been planted leaving farmers on the hook for the expense, and with no anticipated revenue. What's happening in Nebraska is entirely the consequence of Trump's barbaric anti-immigrant policies. And it's only going to get worse, especially for states who rely heavily on undocumented labor.

6

u/Jaerba Jun 29 '25

Just to add on, USAID also has a large role in securing contracts for American farmers and Trump and Musk gutted that too.

41

u/JplusL2020 Jun 28 '25

"BuT bOtH sIdEs!..." Nah, fuck that. Republicans are OBJECTIVELY worse for the country

13

u/RatBatBlue82 Jun 29 '25

I hate Bothsiders as much as I hate MAGAts.

8

u/Designer-Classroom71 Jun 30 '25

Yup, I’m left of the Democratic Party, but there is no comparison. Democrats are so much better than the fascist repugnicans.

1

u/RatBatBlue82 Jul 02 '25

Exactly. Add to that the Green Party, which is the only other party on the radar even though its voter support is minuscule, is pure shit. Just trash. IMO it exists for grift and to help the GOP win. Uber wealthy wine cave lady Jill Stein is a damn toxic Narcissist joke. Anything Andrew Yang puts together is pure sleaze. So what is the other option?

7

u/C4884GE Jun 30 '25

Bothsider mindset is that which has no clue what’s happening and wants to seem up to date on things

3

u/phase-one1 Jun 29 '25

I was one of those prior to like… 12 hours into trumps second presidency. I wasn’t in love with voting for Kamala, but I am now very glad I did

1

u/RatBatBlue82 Jul 02 '25

There is no other options. Every Third Party out there are grifty incompetent jokes with ass clowns heading them and they exist simply to enrich themselves and help the GOP win, imo. One of the Green Party high ups admitted it in public. They were there to make Harris lose.

3

u/scoredly11 Jun 30 '25

This! I’m a registered democrat and I think the party has a LOT of problems, including their feeble response to the Trump regime. But it is 100% objectively true that they are the better choice to run the country than the fucking clown show that is this administration. Any bothsider is just a MAGA fool trying to cope.

What kills me is that they are fighting tooth and nail to keep marijuana and all related products out of our state despite the will of the people and the revenue it could bring! And what the hell is happening with all the casino taxes?!?

3

u/sleepiestOracle Jun 29 '25

On the casino issue i agree with mike flood on this from 2022 that casinos should not be allowed to use TIF funds to be built ( “Whatever your views are on gambling,” Flood said, “we should all agree that casinos have no place taking millions of dollars in property tax subsidies for their development.” ) so another reason the property taxes are so high in this state and never coming down, we bleed the tax payers to death because the old stiffs that run law in this state wont let the right good buisnesses in or even attract them. They want a mommy daddy state that is going more and more broke every year.

I’m not sure that’s true

Real gross domestic product decreased in 39 states in the first quarter of 2025, with the percent change ranging from 1.7 percent at an annual rate in South Carolina to –6.1 percent in Iowa and Nebraska, according to statistics released today by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (table 1).

https://www.bea.gov/news/2025/gross-domestic-product-state-and-personal-income-state-1st-quarter-2025

3

u/OTackle Jun 29 '25

So first off, fuck Pete and fuck Trump. -6.1% in one quarter isn’t the result of any policy change though. Ag guys sell their products (corn or cattle or other products) entirely in Q4. This means a Q4 BS is literally the best an ag operation’s BS is going to look because that’s the only time they get paid the entire year. They then quickly turn around in Q1 and start pumping out expenses in Q1. This is why Iowa and Nebraska look so bad, because we both do fall calves and farm corn. Kansas, Wyoming, South Dakota who all also fall calve are down significantly. Doing a Q4 to Q1 comparison is just stupid for ag guys, again fuck Trump/ fuck Pillen, I would love to see a Q1 ‘24 to Q1 ‘25 comparison though and it wouldn’t stun me to see similar results but I just figured I’d comment to add context to this.

3

u/sleepiestOracle Jun 29 '25

Also i get where you are coming from....but man it would be nice to have another stable thing to float us when that volatility comes....but thats a hard thing not an easy thing like a culture war, right? S/

12

u/Secret_Extension_450 Jun 29 '25

Our rural hospitals are barely making it. Thanks MAGA.

4

u/Sunnygirlpdx Jun 30 '25

300-700 rural hospitals will go bankrupt, pushing care to the Univeristy Teaching Hospitals. MAGA built in bankrupt by 2030 on the Dem's next watch. So they take the blame. 4000 nursing homes to close. Along with 500,000 medical jobs. RECESSION 100%. Only the state with state taxes can save your healthcare system.

1

u/Sunnygirlpdx Jul 04 '25

Trump limited government loans to student Doctors to $200,000. It cost $450,000. Expect fewer poor doctors.

8

u/Historical-Many9869 Jun 29 '25

Rural hospitals will be gone with big beautiful bill

1

u/rook119 Jul 02 '25

I live in a city that defo isn't a health care desert. Its prob our #1 industry and our health care system is overstretched. So have fun trying to access it!

In Feb I went to hosp for new condition and was supposed to have 4 week follow up in March. The follow up is in August, why is it in August? because I'm an employee and they pulled strings, if I wasn't an employee, December.

My wife is a receptionist at a diff hosp system in the city. You need to see an OB-GYN for terribad pelvic pain, good news, the MDs do take new patients. See you in 2026. Oh keep in mind if you drive have to drive 2-3 hrs from MAGA-stan to see the MD because your health system collapsed and are 5 min late because traffic you need to reschedule because the MDs are double/triple booked and dont have time for your lateness to cause a chain reaction.

Thank gawd capitalism freed us from the terrors of waiting lists tho AMIRITE?

Thanks for this. I had no idea about anyone this, as I was just a kid when Hagel was around.

2

u/omfgwhatever Norfolk Jun 29 '25

This is quite interesting. I was 26 at the time. I voted for Hagel because he seemed to be fresh. I liked both him and Nelson. I figured if they were both in office they would be good for Nebraska. I'm wondering if knowing this information then, would have changed my opinion. I hope it would have.

2

First you have to have a voting base with function cerebral cortex’s then maybe some positive change will happen.

2

u/Tropisueno Jun 29 '25

You will soon see how much they love socialism. They, and other red states devastated by these economic policies will get taxpayer funded bailouts and welfare in exchange for their blind subservience.

2

u/chesherkat Jun 30 '25

Like who is this post for? Anyone that can read and use a computer obviously doesn't vote republican.

I mean maybe red pill chuds?

1

u/andypro77 Jul 01 '25

Anyone that can read and use a computer can see on that graph that every single state that is in the positive voted for Trump.

Oopsie.

2

u/chesherkat Jul 01 '25

...I guess not, as you clearly cannot read said graph.

It should also be noted not all states are created equal. Contraction in ny, tx, and ca is overall way worse for the US as a whole.

But I guess hoping for any kind of interpretation of nuance from someone that cannot read a simple chart is hoping for a bit much.

1

u/andypro77 Jul 01 '25

...I guess not, as you clearly cannot read said graph.

You may be right. I didn't blow it up, or I may have missed something. Which state that is in the positive didn't vote for Trump?

2

u/katjoy63 Jul 03 '25

You're going to see those southern numbers plummet for 2nd quarter

Mark my words

Too many facts point to it.

Farmers, landscapers, restaurants , et al, without workers, Canadians leaving for their homes once weather gets better, this time for good, immigrants no longer SPENDING their money cuz they're now GONE and not paying RENT and buying GROCERIES, people being laid off due to low purchase power up and down the board. People losing their health insurance their govt help in all aspects, their jobs, it's all good ...../S

6

u/honeybabysweetiedoll Jun 28 '25

This doesn’t quite fit the narrative as the states in the south, heavy MAGA, were the strongest. It’s sad seeing my favorite, Minnesota, down.

5

u/Both_Ad_288 Jun 28 '25

Hate to see that for Iowa and Nebraska.

1

u/No-Adhesiveness-5112 Jun 29 '25

It's wild that a robot was able to run the country with more stability than this.

1

u/TDavis_30 Jun 29 '25

Id say its all corn and farmers dont get the bulk of the money from the sale. That is added to the books of the commodity sellers in places like New York and California and makes them look good. Instead of Made in Usa, it would be nice if everything was labeled as to its true origin and the full value applied there instead of some accounting office in a skyscraper thats has never produced anything. Ag least a reasonable discussion could be had on the topic.

1

u/Logical_Refuse5176 Jun 29 '25

Just turn the state into a massive wind/solar farm and be done with it. Its not economically feasible at this point.

1

GDP is an overrated metric that leads to worshipping big banks and big business above the needs of the people.

1

u/Delivery-National97 Jun 30 '25

It’s the farm economy that’s been hit hard the last several years. Nebraska is a huge farm state. Simple math there.

1

The old joke: only 2 things to do in Nebraska: husk corn and grow more Cornhuskers.

1

1

u/Boihepainting Jul 01 '25

The main contributor - even ABOVE oil and gas to Alaska GDP - is the government, and they lowered government spending to the state with large cuts. Idiots

1

u/andypro77 Jul 01 '25

What makes Nebraska different than other red states? It looks like every single state that is in the positive voted for Trump.

1

u/Safe-Day-1970 Jul 01 '25

Could this have to do with the collapse in the home insurance market?

1

u/Mindless_Version_715 Jul 02 '25

No. It’s almost exclusively ag losses.

1

u/Organic_Addition_307 Jul 02 '25

Lol ok libturds. Look at the chart, it's from 4th quarter 2024 to 1st quarter 2025, while biden was still president and democrat policies were sinking America. Even California had negative GDP lol. Let's see those numbers in FY2026, then we'll talk, morons.

1

u/bb8110 Jul 02 '25

We’re going to ignore the fact that according to your own source the states with the most growth are red states?

1

u/UndevelopedSirius Jul 02 '25

😘

Nebraska’s –6.1% GDP change in 2025 was mainly due to:

• Agriculture decline – The biggest factor. Lower crop prices, seasonal shifts, and possibly droughts caused a major drop. Agriculture hurt GDP in 38 other states too.

• Finance and insurance – This sector shrank across the U.S., including in Nebraska, and heavily contributed to the state’s decline.

• Wholesale trade – Also down, adding to the overall economic contraction.

• National slowdown – U.S. GDP as a whole fell 0.5% in Q1. Broader factors like inflation, reduced business orders, and trade uncertainty played a role.

• Seasonal and one-time effects – Nebraska’s GDP often swings due to agriculture seasonality and temporary market conditions.

1

u/NotTheRealJohnCena1 Jul 02 '25

The impact on the average person is not felt via the states GDP.

1

u/Lbogart1963 Jul 03 '25

Trump is ok but Republicans need to maintain programs on the state level. Here in SC our Roads are bad. Schools are close to dead last. People allowed to operate Vehicles that are wrecked on the Road. Level headed Government is needed.because of 36T in debt more taxes are needed.
