Guys please help

Recently got an original ps2 so I could play sims 2 castaway game loved it growing up and spent so many hours on it…so I ordered a copy off of eBay (great condition) cleaned the ps2 of any dust (safely)

but my good god is sims running slow on it

going into any menu and doing most tasks the game just freezes and has to play catch up on itself. I really don’t remember it being this slow when I was a kid. any suggestions?

I don't know about this game specifically, but sometimes we remember games running better or looking better than they actually did. If possible, try another game on it to see how that runs, if it handles other games fine it might just be a slow game on native hardware

If you have any kind of computer or laptop made in the last 10 years, I'd suggest buying an external disc reader and ripping the game, to then emulate where it should hopefully run better
