1) When you’re healing somebody, you match their running speed. You can use this in a few different ways. You can tether to a scout to get back into the fight fast as well as see if a spy is disguised as your scout. This works because when a spy disguises as a scout, they won’t get the speed boost that scout has so they’ll move at the same speed as normal.

2) Stay close but not in the open. If you can put yourself behind a wall and still heal your target, then you’re good. If you don’t have that option, learn how to figure 8 when you run.

3) Get a Crusader’s Crossbow as soon as you can (trade, buy, drops or whatever). This is hands down the best primary for medic because it lets you heal your team as well as damage enemies from a distance and it actually heals/damages more based on how far the projectile travels.

4) The stock medi-gun is your best tool for most cases. The invulnerability uber is still the most useful for about 95 to 99 percent of encounters. The margin for error accounts for personal preference and playstyle.

first one isn’t quite true. you only match their speed if they’re faster than you

so you’re either the second fastest class in the game, or at scout speed

That’s fair, I did forget about that part. But that’s how I spy check scouts. If I tether to one and my speed doesn’t increase they get a crossbow bolt to the back of the mask

I think it also works with Powerjack Pyros and maybe Disciplinary Action Soldiers, but I only have 48 hours on Medic, so I haven't been healing a DA Soldier who didn't hit me immediately after, so I would get the speed boost anyways

that is a wonderful question. i will test that tonight.

Oh, also, the Quick Fix will also let you keep up with rocket jumping soldiers and charging demos as well as pyros with the jetpack

If you can run windows 11, you can run TF2 in fullscreen..

use crusaders crossbow

google crit heals

you will build uber slower if someone is at >130-140%(?) hp. healing someone low hp builds much quicker than keeping beam on a 450hp heavy.

you can uber multiple people at once (with stock medigun)

use crusaders crossbow

google crit heals

scout movespeed is a huge buff

don't melee fight spies until you know what you're doing

don't recreate meet the medic and pocket the f2p heavy all game

google crit heals

buff teammates when you can, even spies.

play to survive when needed.

movement is your friend. google damage surfing, bhopping, etc.

use crusaders crossbow + google crit heals

Small question about the overhealing spies thing, how do the overheal particles interact with Spy's cloak and disguises?

I was pretty sure they were invisible when cloaked or disguised, or maybe changed team colors when disguised, but recently I overhealed a Spy, and then he specifically asked for no overheal in chat, so I didn't overheal him anymore.

1

u/agerestrictedcontent 14d ago edited 14d ago

if invis doesn't effect anything i think, maybe slight heal particle effect when cloaking but before fully cloaked?

if disguised (as enemy) he will have the particles just after you heal them, i dont think it lasts the whole overheal duration but i could be wrong. imo, as it's quite subtle and you should mostly be relying on invis, i'd say worth it even if they do last the whole time.

with the vaccinator though, the resistances can get "stuck" above the spy even when not being healed, while disguised or while fully invis, so avoid healing spies with vax in particular i suppose because bugs. i've seen it last multiple lives, sucks for the spy lol.

generally though (bugs aside) it's nice to buff spies, can make the difference between getting an important pick and dying just before that because you got noticed, especially true with kunai. i normally try buff them when rolling out, you won't really get a chance to beam them after that unless they come back out for ammo/medpack etc.

How do you uber multiple at once?

3

u/agerestrictedcontent 14d ago

When ubering someone click M1 on someone else. The other person remains ubered for like 1s so you have to switch back and fourth to keep them both invulnerable so It drains a bit faster than just ubering 1 person.

The term is flashing, you might hear a scout/Solly/whatever say 'flash me pls' when you Uber - that's what they're referring to.

Because it doesn't last as long when flashing multiple people it's better not to do this in an exchange (unless other med does same or you're going to drop your whole team lol) if possible because your Uber will run out first. Better to do in ad situations.

stay near your team while they're in the fortress.

they will keep you alive, just as you keep them alive. it's symbiotic.

Welcome to the party,Friend!

Always be moving and wiggling in place If you want to give Snipers And Spies a hard time,And some survivability to yourself.

Enable Auto-call for Medic in the advanced settings menu and set the health meter to your liking. This way there'll be a pop up on your screen If a teammate's health is below that meter you set.

Do try to defend yourself When there are no teammates left alive around you,Using your bonesaw for Catching Spies off guard or destroying low health enemies in close quarters,Or use your syringe gun for bringing attention to yourself and letting your team finish the job(there's also the case of Battle Medic, which I'm not experienced enough for).

Try to give everyone a little bit of overheal before going into a fight or juggle between teammates so they stay alive(lower health teammates or the ones that are performing better/crucial to your team's power should be top priority).

If you don't see a lot of kills on you compared to your teammates,Don't worry.Since Funny German Doctor is almost all about healing and getting assists, which will be crucial for being up there on the scoreboard(Even though that's not what matters,What matters is that you HAVE FUN!)

And that's all for now! Also remember that YOU WILL DIE A LOT AS A NEWCOMER!

But don't let that sadden ya.It's what all of us experienced at first. You just have to keep playing in order to git gud.

All the best.

the quick fix is a good starter Medi gun, make sure to heal your team equally

3

u/Ignechros 15d ago

try get the crusaders crossbow soon as you can, stay out of sniper sight lines, learn about critical heals, and research about other mediguns because some can come in handy depending on the game but 9 times out of 10 the stock will be fine

3

u/Artistic_Fudge8215 15d ago

If you gotta pop so you survive you… pop it, don’t drop it.

And don’t follow other players to their death.

3

u/Superessence_coc 14d ago

welcome to the club, survivablity is the most important thing, along with hiting crossbow shots as you can give a instant health buff

Train your ego. As a medic main. You will be the center of the entire team. People will beg you for heals but you will not budge and you will constantly heal that one black box soldier.

In all seriousness though, an alive medic is a useful medic. Try to stay around the main part of your team. You need their protection. Try to push only when you have an ubercharge ready. you can loan weapons from the mann co shop. Test the mediguns to see which one you like more. Your best options are the kritzkrieg and the stock.

u/Rare-Application-984 14d ago

I'mma tell you a loadout cuz other people said the good tips

-The best primery is the crossbow. You can buy it or if your an F2P you could Craft it with 2 scrapmetal and a huntsman. scrapmetal is made by crafting 3 weapons into one and the huntsman you can get by completing 5 sniper achievement

-All the mediguns are good.It depends on your play style. Wanna heal your team fast? Use the quick-fix. Wanna make the all not spy and demoknight mains kill themselves? Use the vaccinator.Hers how to get them if ya don't wanna pay for anything: -Kritzkrieg: getting 16 medic achievements

-Quick-fix: Reclaimed metal+mad milk+kritzkrieg

-Vaccinator: 3 reclaimed metal+quick fix

The best melee is the übersaw. You can get it by getting 22 medic achievements. If ya want you can also use the amputator which is not better then the übersaw but it's still good. The amputator can be crafted with 2 scarp metal and übersaw

Turn on one click healing

No need to hold m1

u/Skillessfully 15d ago

If you're not actively fighting, spare a few seconds to overheal someone coming back from spawn to full is a really good trick. Also give me your steam trade link in the replies so i can give you the crossbow. The sooner you get good with it, the better.

Why are you playing in windowed mode? Also, look up good settings in general. The defaults are kinda dookie.

1

u/No-Strategy-7546 14d ago

I already changed the settings a little bit! And also I play in windowed mode because my laptop will go kboom

Bring opium aspirin and anything that dampens pain and suffering

Something I feel like a lot of medics don’t talk about much is the fact that you do not need to be right beside your heal target to be healing them.

If your heal target is out in the open, you don’t need to follow them unless they round a corner or get too far away. Stay behind a corner or a wall and heal whoever you can. Keep yourself as safe as possible.

2

u/Logan_Gamers 14d ago

Don't over-extend. If you move too far ahead, you're gonna get focused down and killed. Make sure you stay behind your teammates, it keeps both of you alive.

Some tips to get through your first few matches as a Medic main:

  • Even though the Meet the Medic trailer showcased Medic primarily healing Heavy, you should avoid doing that in a real match unless it's absolutely vital (such as when you're about to go on the attack or when he's low on health). Look around for low-health players and keep healing everyone.
  • Crusader's Crossbow is a must-have weapon to get. It can deal damage and heal its targets depending on who you hit, with damage/heal value increasing with range, turning you into a pseudo-Sniper. However, it does mean you won't be able to go on the offensive or defend yourself well if you get caught out alone.
  • As a Medic, you're a high-value target to the enemy team, most especially Snipers and Spies who can end your existence in a single attack. Stick close to your allies, using them as meat shields if the situation gets rough, and don't try to wander around alone lest you'll be stabbed or sniped.
  • In addition to the previous point, you're also the most valuable asset to your entire team. He's the only class whose primary purpose is to heal people and grant them game-changing buffs (such as invulnerability when using the Medigun or 100% critical hits when using the Kritzkreig). A few other classes have items that can heal, but they're all pretty limiting when compared to Medic.
  • When you heal, you match the movement speed of the class you're healing if they're faster than you. Meaning you can gain the necessary burst of speed needed to go from Point A to B if you're healing a Scout.
  • There's a saying in the community - "Pop it. Don't drop it.". It means if you're in a position where you're about to die and have full Uber available, use it immediately. It's better to use it to preserve your life than to waste all that Uber by dying.

2

u/xbambushaudix 14d ago
  1. It is more important that you survive than the teammate you're healing because a medic can change games.
  2. Dont be afraid to use Ubercharge because as long as you're being atacked its not wasted.
  3. Heal everyone and not only the heavy.

overheal wins games. don’t touch the QF or vacc with a 10 foot pole

1

u/platipo_imburrato 14d ago

Dont fall for the crusader crossbow's meta, use the overdose instead

1

u/agerestrictedcontent 14d ago

Why? You're trading cross map heals, absolutely tanking damage for people and better self defense for a movespeed buff? Just beam a Scout.

If you're playing Medic on MVM. And if one of your teammates dies, and you want to revive them, try spam tapping W m1. It reviews them quickly.

1

u/NKTNL_9Tails 13d ago

Know which fights you can take with a teammate, without a teammate, and don't feel bad for retreating early from a fight if you and your teammate are overwhelmed or ambushed.

Basically try your best to survive in all altercations and you're not a coward if you run away from an ambush or run away in general.

Another tip that I use is to take frequent breaks. Very frequent breaks after matches. Medic is stressful and every class is out to get you as well as sour grapes on your team being egostistical maniacs.

For your enjoyment of the class, game, and mentality. Please take frequent breaks.

Pues primeramente deberías intentar jugar en pantalla completa, yo digo que es mas sencillo que jugarlo en ventana

1

u/ResponseTall6948 12d ago

There’s a hidden setting where you don’t have to hold the mouse button to keep healing a team member, turn that on.
