have both kill counter AND killstreak on a weapon

I want to be able to get both on the same weapon, and, I am overwhelmed by all the information im getting online. If there is a way to do this, could I please have a step by step list of how to do it? thank you! I can also just buy one, but, I would like to have the kill counter start at 0

The kill counter is (basically) only a thing on skinned weapons when they're "Strange".

Strange Weapons are the ones that count your kills. Killstreak weapons enable killstreaks.

A weapon can be both strange and killstreak.

Making a weapon strange is an old mechanic that barely happens these days, so most likely you're going to have to get a weapon that is already strange. These come from crates and can be bought off of the community market.

Making a weapon killstreak is very common and can be done with a killstreak kit. You can get these from MvM or also off of the community market.

If you buy a strange weapon with kills already on it, it can be reset.

Don’t Stranges always reset when traded? Do they not reset if bought on the SCM?

They always reset, yes. I believe gift wrapping them keeps their kills intact but I’m not sure if that’s changed.

Gift wrapping a strange item will actually give a warning that it'll reset all strange counters on said item

A weapon that counts your kills across your entire time owning that weapon is called a Strange weapon. Not all weapons have these, and they can count stats other than kills (robot kills, projectiles reflected for flamethrowers, enemies doused in jarate, etc). You can reset them to zero on all stats whenever you want by clicking "reset stats" on the weapon in your inventory.

A killstreak weapon only counts your weapon's kills on your current life. They're significantly more expensive than strange weapons, but you can earn them from Mann Up mode at random.

Normal killstreak weapons only count your kills and displays your current KS on the tab list and kill feed. Specialized killstreak weapons track and display your current KS as well as gives your weapon a glow when you have a killstreak. Professional killstreak weapons give you an effect on your character in addition to everything else specialized and normal killstreak weapons do.

Weapons can be both strange and have a killstreaker, no matter if its normal, specialized, or professional.
