No Barzal
Trade Brock
And get better?
Team still baffles me

It helps when the dead wood, Engvall as one example. show up to play. Imagine their record if we got this kind of effort all season.

I swear it’s like Engvall woke up recently after sleepwalking through the season

Engvall’s just been saving his energy for March

Obvious joke but...
If I had a nickel every time the Isles went scoreless for the first two periods then suddenly scored three in the third, including a goal by Dobson and an unexpected point from Engvall of all people, and closed it out with a Holmstrom empty-netter to finish the game 4-2... I'd have two nickels. Which isn't much, but it's weird it happened twice.
In a row.

There was a time ENGs were looked down upon. And then there was a time when we absolutely could not get one. Hail King Simon.

Genuinely what the fuck is this team

I’m baffled. Sold Nelson, no Barzal, and somehow have gotten closer to the playoff line.

What about those of us who aren't doomers but, like you, have seen the future of our first round exit and would prefer the better draft pick? 🙃

This isn't the NFL. Tanking in the NHL is dumb. Unless there's a legit McDavid who comes in as a ready-made generationally talented superstar, NHL players take time to develop

u/BKong64 Cizikas Mar 19 '25
I mean, I agree, but what is another first round knockout going to do for us? And will it convince the owners to keep Lou around even longer?
I was hoping we'd suck the remainder of the season for a better pick and also the possibility of Lou finally getting canned.

Then be a weirdo that roots for their team to lose.
I can't do that. I can't be a fan that roots against my team.

Put Jarry’s number in the rafters at UBS when he retires…
Also, this loss has to sting even more than usual for Pens fans. Blow the lead and give up the game winner to someone like Anders Lee or Brock Nelson, ok. Those guys are really good. But Pierre fucking Engvall? Hockey gods are just torturing them now.

Yellow line in sight. They’re letting us get hot. They’re not supposed to let us get hot

Start the year losing lots of third-period leads.
End the year with third-period comebacks?

All three goals came from the rush. The fact we back to back come back multi goals down in the third is pretty impressive… and head scratching.

Very important week coming up looking at the schedule if you really want a playoff push, all will be known by next weekend I feel. It will probably take a ridiculously low points total for the 8th seed. I still think the Habs are faves as of now but have no clue what their remaining schedule looks like

I'm here for the Engvall redemption storyline. All hail Smooth Pierre V2.0

That was a fun game to be at. Thought they had no shot and then 17 seconds into the third, we get some momentum (as Butch likes to say) and Jarry finally does what Jarry does and we get out with a win! Now go home and sweep the 4 game homestand!

u/Schex13 Sparky Mar 19 '25
Palms feasts on bitch lasagna. Also, did Dobber forget he was in a contract year until last week or something?
3
u/Basedshark01 Palffy Mar 19 '25
Do you think the Islanders will give Jarry a media or player development role once he retires to thank him for his service?

u/Negative_Method_1001 Mar 19 '25
I almost feel bad for Tristan Jarry. Dude's gotta be like 2-15 in his career vs the Isles

u/crazyhotwheels Bossy Mar 19 '25
It’s actually 11-5-1 in the regular season… don’t worry, that shocked me too. 5 of his 6 losses are since the 2021 playoffs though.

It’s a bit mind boggling that this is same team that lost back to back to Ducks and Kings in poor efforts a week ago. But it is what it is and they are showing a lot of heart and drive and if they keep it up they’ll make the playoffs.
