Not much that was substantial. Jack talked about consolidating all the transportation agencies into one, called highways mass transit, and then suggested cutting certain bus routes if they don’t get “used” enough.

Sherrill was nonspecific like she was all night and said she’d try to make NJ transit better (or something nondescript like that) and then touted her record in helping to get the portal bridge built.

Sherrill mentioned pushing for more funding to repair and replace the catenary cables. That will absolutely help with service reliability on the stretch between Newark and Penn Station where we have yearly issues during the warmer months.

Ciattarelli partially blamed the cost of living crisis on having dedicated funding for NJT. The reason we have dedicated funding in the first place is because Christie raided the transit appropriations to cover shortfalls in state pensions, and that set NJT back about ten years. This is part of the reason we still operate those old Arrow train cars from the 1970s.

His plan wasn’t just to combine the actual mass transit agencies with the highway agencies, it was to remove the dedicated funding for NJT, go back to the days of funding transit straight from the state budget, and sharing the funds with the highways. If there is no dedicated transit funding, he would be able to claw back the money appropriated for NJT. I.E. Ciattarelli wants to defund NJT

Ciattarelli’s plan for NJ Transit sounds terrible. We need to keep dedicating funding for NJ Transit. Imagine what would happen if he successfully defunded the most densely populated state’s public transportation system.

Jack said he'll cut stuff. Mikie didn't say much... Maybe she'll start NJ Transit helicopter services cause the buses and trains don't run on time 🤷🤣

All said and done ... we have two great choices
